“I am sure you will accept the ``Wata Ball`` appeal I made on the same post concerning ethnic/nationality slurs.”

Your appeal is upheld. Ethnic/nationality slurs are not too bright. (Proviso: the desire to annoy is not per se evil, while the desire to intimidate is fairly wicked. Let us not see more here than there is – he can be irritating, but no more. Am I right?)

Bhaijaan – allow me to take this opportunity to say that I have learned more and more to really appreciate the Pakistani sense of humour (we need more like that in India, IMO, Rsax!). And also to share with you this gem from TFT (ya, I know you have probably already read, magar phir bhi):

[The Diary of a Social Butterfly

I think so my best month is Februrary,” I told Janoo, as we were driving to Twinkle and Bobo’s for dinner. “I used to think keh December is my best but Februrary uss se bhi best hai.” “I agree. There’s something uplifting about spring,” he said. “Spring shing koh maro goli,” I replied. “I was talking of basant. Parties, shaadies, non stopped. Uff I can’t wait.”

Dinner at Twinkle’s wasn’t bad. Small sa tha. About seventy people only. Food was from Avari, although she pretended her cook had done it. Jhooti. I’ve ordered those fat, fat, deep, deep, fried, fried prawns myself so many times. And not to mention the cold slaw and the chicken ceasarion salad and the black forest chateau and the chocolate mouse. Sub from there only. Honestly, I don’t know why people have to lie particularly when they know they’re going to be disposed. Also pretended she’d done the flowers herself when I know she’d stolen the buffets from the dinner at Holiday Inn from the Gurgling Fridges valon ka function. Uff taubah. So much of lies.

Anyways, talk was all about the coming parties. Didi — oho baba, Shahida Saigol, who else? — is organising the LRTB ball in Lahore na. It’s to be in the Fort. She wanted it in the Jamia Masjid but the DC told her they couldn’t give permission for that because Jamia Masjid is in Delhi. Chalo, never mind. Fort will do. I’m sure Didi will make it the best ever. As Janoo says a lot of the basant parties will be Coke fuelled. Voh sponsor kar rahe hain, na. They and Emirates. Allah unko khush rakhe for making so many deserving people happy. Also Razzak Dawood’s son is tying the string. The wedding will be in Karachi and Lahore over a whole week. Hai mazaa! We’re sure to get invited because Janoo knows him from before. Must remind Janoo to call him and just do hello hi to refresh his memories. And phir Imran is having a fund raiser with Amitabh in his hospital. Imran’s not Amitabh’s. I wish vaisay he’d asked Shahrukh Khan. Amitabh is not bad but ub zara aged hai.

Aur kiya? Haan, at dinner people were talking of some Pearl which has gone missing from Karachi or Lahore or somewhere. “Hai Mikimoto tau nahin tha?” I asked. “So expensive they’ve become now.” “We were talking of Daniel Pearl,” said Janoo through gritted teeth. I think so he needs to see a dentist. He’s begun to grit his teeth a lot lately.

“Chalo as long as it wasn’t South Sea.” Janoo gave me another dirty look but I ignore maroed. What’s the point of spoiling one’s mood, haina? ]

It makes me want to praise God that I am South Asian.

Best wishes,

Zafar

Zafar #76 ``I must confess that I have enjoyed the BHL joke – aren’t you being a bit severe about it, however? `` Righto sir. We shall leave it for the schools to provide severity, and simply declare a ``No Ball`` on some (cricket, of course) balls that have been tossed in a dubious manner. However, being as you are an umpire of fine judgement and complete impartiality, I am sure you will accept the ``Wata Ball`` appeal I made on the same post concerning ethnic/nationality slurs.

TAhmed uncle, why don`t you take a dose of chill pill (twice a day at first, then once a day)?

I think that is what Zafar is telling you as well.

“As for this thing about the Paki ambassador`s hair-do: the reason I bring it up is because I think it is quite pathetic for man to comment on how a woman in public life dresses up or looks.”

Tahmed Mian, as usual you put me to shame. I must confess that I have enjoyed the BHL joke – aren’t you being a bit severe about it, however? The humour there is definitely Disney Family Program level. (Sonia Gandhi, just for the purpose of comparison, is widely referred to as ``The Shroud of Turin`` in some circles in India – not just due to her national origins but also her famously animated speaking style when addressing Parliament in Hindi. This doesn’t seem improper either. I know it`s wrong, but....KYA KAROON?!!!! I am but weak flesh….)

Rsaxena #73 OK I went overboard on my earlier response below to your post #73, what I said makes no sense, and you can ignore that response if you wish. I have no right to comment on people`s personalities since (as I said ont he other board a couple of days back) we are mere shadows of our real personalities on chowk.

Having said that, what I can say with confidence is that your habitual putdowns of ethnicities and nationalities basically stink. As for this thing about the Paki ambassador`s hair-do: the reason I bring it up is because I think it is quite pathetic for man to comment on how a woman in public life dresses up or looks.

Rsaxena: Trouble with the internet is that what you write is there for ever, and no amount of cleverness can change that. While you may be a succcessful lier in real life, in claiming you never said this or that in real life, you cannot carryover that habit to the internet. On chowk the hundreds of posts you have written are testament to your screwed up personality.

{{Rsaxena will take revenge with yet another post to chowk pointing out the oh-so-bad hairdo of the Pakistani female ambassador}}

you seem traumatized by this comment and bring it up more than i do...you had a crush on her or something?...did i offend you?...won`t your camel in the backyard feel betrayed if you actually knocked boots with the beehive lady?...

Epilogue to my post below: And when the deed is done, and Joe Cool the Camel puts on his dark glasses and lights up a cigarette after having satisfied his savage lusts, Rsaxena will take revenge with yet another post to chowk pointing out the oh-so-bad hairdo of the Pakistani female ambassador, these mean Pukistanis, ...

Stuka #61 Dont know. I am sure though that if Rsaxena (who reminds us once again of his humorless humor in #63) goes out with a camel, the camel would be accused of violating a (mental) minor.

Thank you very much.

I was also trying to hunt in cyberwoods but was stumped because of a memory-blip.

Thanks again.

Sometimes all it takes are a few words to trigger of your memory so reading your post, I remembered the name of the book by Hsuan Tsang the Chinese Traveller - it was ``Si-Yu-Ki`` or ``Voyages to the Western World``, so a simple search on the net gave me this link - http://www.vedamsbooks.com/no17442.htm

Thats where you can get it.

If memory serves me right then this traveller came to India during the reign of the Gupta dynasty, he was preceded by Fa Hien whose book was ``A Record of Buddhist Kingdoms`` and here is another thread -http://jollyroger.com/library/RecordofBuddhisticKingdomsbyFa-Hienebook.html

The other traveller you talk of Megasthenes - he was the Greek ambassador to the court of Chandragupt Maurya - his account was Indica and I believe only a few fragments of this survive.

“btw, there is a growing but little reported movement of Israeli conscientious objectors, men and women who are refusing to serve in the Israeli military because they cannot in good conscience participate in Israel`s current domestic military supressions. They number around a hundred now.”

…at last count it was 150+…maybe this is the start of smt….

Prem--58

Thank you.

But buddy I realy want to know the titles of these books,if available, in eglish/urdu.Now I also remember there was another traveller Magasthanese!--where are his accounts.

How come such stuff is not available in hindi. It would, then, be easy to get it in URDU.
