Dukhi Ram

How can anyone say that the nomads who targeted India were not barbaric, when there are historical records on the number of infidels killed and the number of slaves distributed. You must sound like the Brits who mentioned of ``white man`s burden``.

What about the gypises and Scinti of Europe surely they are not remnants of any invading army. Th vast majority of them were either ejected from their homelands by benevolent invaders or better still sold in chains by more commercially minded invaders.

Targeted eradication of local populace and their beliefs were the prime reason for invasions according to some. If people were so keen on making this their home why did the modern day heirs of Moguls have to vacate the land and find another homeland. It is always easy to blame a passive community because of its overwhelming numbers.

If natives had an organised religion and resorted to the tactics of their conquerors the Moguls would never have set shop and that would have made a big difference.

Instead we have been snared into a ``MY god is better than yours``, ``MY language is better`` attitude which is wreaking havoc .

Muslims especially of the North must wake up to realities such as the fact that they need to integrate with the mainstream.

If I were to say this ensure that differences are not evident or cannot be perceived.

Further popular Hinduism is not a religion that believes in evangelisation. Nobody cares less Abdul Hakim became Shyam Sunder or not.

My personal experience tells me that many Muslims go out of their way to emphasize their differences with their non-Muslim neighbours. On the other hand I have seen Hindu owned establishments even sport images of Kaaba as well as Christ to accommodate other interests.

Time is running out and with it the possibility of rapproachment - with the affirmative action, power is passing to the hands of sections which are probably more boisterous and less amenable to civilities.

scouty,

{{with all due respect, you know as well as i do that i`ve held the male interactors here to the same standards as females. i`m disappointed and surprised that you make that accusation to me, of all people. you`ve seen me interact with the male morons here.}}

Whoah..did I accuse you of that?! hah! never..

I mean..forget gender..even if a stray dog wandered into Chowk & took an innocent pee on the lampost, you would probably give it a scolding..you bully..

Maybe you should stuff your ears with cotton whenever you see binifer`s & my posts...but while your doing that..just in case you happen to take a whiff of your thumb..I`ll bet it`d smell like Preparation H.

``Chowk is also not a place where a person like me will just accept everything and be agreeable all the time, with everyone. if i chose to tell someone that profanities will not get her anywhere, i will chose to do so. i`m not here to make happy small talk and chamcha-giri. i have an opinion and i will say it, whether someone likes it or not.

IN MY OPINION, people do not earn respect in this world by going around calling others ``chootpieces`` and ``ullu ka pathas.``

``

Well said. Those who dont have anything substantial to say try to attract attention by posting gaalis. No decent man/woman needs to hurl profanities at the other to make his/her point. I am not a prude but maa-behan Hindi/Urdu gaalis are simply not my cup of tea. They should be left for the street loafers.

(IN MY OPINION, people do not earn respect in this world by going around calling others ``chootpieces`` and ``ullu ka pathas.``)

When have I ever come on Chowk to *earn respect *? I come here to make a point (which is rather rare) or then indulge in some chichorepann or fun when I`m really really bored. The idea of wanting to earn respect here is preposterous (quite honestly, the idea of `earning` it anywhere is crazy) But then, different strokes for different folks.

Thank you for your kind wishes. Kachee kairyaan are very hard to come by where I am unless you want to Fed Ex me some.

Lajawantijee

(Yougo trying that with smallbundle jumping upand down, up and down, up and downon your bladder, then advising, THANX!)

You tell `em sugah (shakar/cheeni not gaali I prmosie)

Shankar

That is some delicious imagery

`What about our own Khmer Rouge?` (Hindustan Times)

`...India will help in efforts to bring former Khmer Rouge leaders to justice...the murder and mayhem witnessed in our own country is yet to become a closed chapter. To realise that the term genocide when applied to Gujarat is no exaggeration, one only has to look up the dictionary meaning of the word: the deliberate murder of a racial or cultural group. (Even an RSS old hand like Nanaji Deshmukh has admitted the post-Godhra killings to be “an orchestrated genocide”.)...Perhaps Mr Vajpayee knows that it is easier to be solicitous about atrocities in another country than to deal with a crisis raging in his own backyard. Only the fool who looks at the finger when someone points at the moon will miss the irony in Mr Vajpayee’s noble gesture. `
