since we aren`t actually in boiling hot water (literally, figuratively its another matter)? Even in Karachi, humid though it is, it would be ``steaming`` to death and not ``boiling.``

Sorry, just one of those things insignificant things that bothers me. Incidentally, has any one ever tried actually using the phases of the moon to detemine when its Eid and when Ramzan ends, instead of relying on some half blind mullahs in the Ruet-e-Hilal committee? Isn`t this how the Saudi`s do it?

Just one clarif.... Indian Standard time is +5.5 GMT, i.e. the two countries are still not ``sharing`` time. A theory runs that Mushy adopted DST so that Pakistan is actually ahead of India in something :))... Of course us Indians are too thrilled about it. This means that in the event of a nuclear attack, we have a whole half-hour to react. Whoopeee!

Interesting article. I am glad we have a general in charge to make sure such important issues are addressed. Now, the beggar will be able to leave his office at the streetcorner in saddar bazaar, on his knees and elbows, one hour early in summer, thereby spending more ``quality time`` with wife and kids. The unemployed youth will be able to start looking for cars to hijack...one hour earlier. The landlord will be able to start beating his peasant...one hour early.

I am so proud of our army chaps and the great job they are doing of running the country. As next Great Achievement, I think the military should finally overthrow the British Raj (kind of like the Battle of Yorktown that finally freed the US) by switching driving rules from the left hand side to the right hand side. The gadda-walas that go in the middle of the road will now have to overtake stalled cars from the left side rather than the right side. Another great coup (excuse me, I meant referendum) for the general.

Glad you all liked this piece. I wrote this on the first day of the time change, totally groggy and confused whether I should be waking up one hour earlier or one hour later.

It was a delightful read.

Daylight Saving Time in Paksitan can make sense, if the working and schooling hours are also adjusted (in summer) as from 7:00 am to 2pm. (DST applied). This way children and people can spend hot summer afternoons at their homes (without load shedding, I hope). The electricity for airconditioning and/or fans at work can thus be saved. This saving then can be transferred to consumers at home. ha ha ha I am just kidding.
