New Theory Emerges in Karachi Blast Officials Say Huge Fertilizer Bomb Was Used in Suicide Attack on Consulate

Pakistani sources said a suspected ringleader in the Pearl case, Naeem Bukhari, was arrested this week. ``What would we memory challenged buzurgs do without you young whipper-snappers? ``
Dost-Mittarji, aap ke munh mein ghee shakkar.
Vaisai at the advanced age of 37, whippersnapperdom seems like a distant dream. (Hai. Life is so unfair.) In fact half of chowk, my style consultant in NYC for example, call me (very properly) uncle. Said style consultant kabhi kabhi zara overenthusiastic ho jatha hai, but he`s a good boy at heart, and always respectful to his elders.
(I recommend him unreservedly, bas jab silver pants ke bare mein baath karne laftha hai you should change the subject...)

Thank you for the Bihari response (though it was somehow more refined than I had anticipated. Ghalib and all…what`s wrong with crass, haiN?)
I might be wrong, but I always thought that Bodhgaya meant the place (literal translation) where the Buddha Went (gaya) ie left the body. (aka Mahaparinirvana). Am I right in thinking that till that moment he was, properly speaking, a Bodhisattava rather than a Buddha (anybody can help here?)
Buddhoo means stupid in Hindi/Urdu/Hindustani – in Sanskrit (and Shuddh Hindi) the word would be Murkh (moorkh?). As for your hypothesis regarding Buddhoo’s relationship to Gautam Buddh (or Buddhi), I suspect that you have been reading Derrida unsupervised again. (You KNOW better than that.)
“PS:Are you aware of any more Mahatmaas, other than Gandhi & Buddh?”
Mahatma is actually two words: maha (great) and atma (soul, or self). There are probably any number of great souls around – Gandhi and Gautam were different from these others only in that their actions caused them to be recognised as such (this recognition, per se, is peripheral to being or not being a great soul). I would suggest that there are several others we could be aware of: the Prophets, just to start with. The Dalai Lama. (And let’s not forget Elvis.)

Thank you for the quotes from the Koran Sharif.
Re: jihadis and sectarians being different, again, thank you for your insights. It is fair to point out that there is an article in the Friday Times which says the opposite, but for an outsider getting several opinions is more likely to lead to understanding than just depending on one.

[``The Emerald Throne``, which I believe is a translation of the persian ``Takht-e-Taoos``.]
Taoos is peacock in farsi – hence the “Peacock Throne”.

“Waisey, I have noticed that all abuses against Hindus seem to be directed against Brahmins and Baniyas...the Khatris seem to actually be exempt from a lot of ire...can anyone tell me why we are so exempt from the abuses that the Brahmins and Baniyas get?”
What next? You will write to the IRS and point out that they under-calculated your tax?
Puttar, you are too good for this evil world.

sameerjb #355,
whoa! that was more leg talk than i could ever dream about. legs are very important to desis too, chicken tandoori legs are the first to go, have u noticed...
on a side note, desis (men and women) tend not to have good legs, so it`s better that we hide them behind shalwars, pajamas, and saris.

rsaxena #349 ``...how`s that?...``
That`s one run. Next batsman in is jay. The crowd falls silent in anticipation...spin bowler urstruly takes a few short steps...bowls...it`s an anti-hindu spin...jay lashes out with a bat from his belfry...misses the spin...ball hits wicketkeeper ali1 (who has been observing jay`s behind) on leg pad...no run. Ball goes back to urstruly.
Urstruly comes in again...does a Kashmir spin...jay swings an article from Dawn...misses...ball misses wickets by a mile...ball hits wicketkeeper ali1 (who has been sexually misconducting behind the stumps)...no run.
(Another day in the India-Pakistan match at the Chowk Pavilions comes to an end).

Rsaxena and Scout: One of you is intersted in talking about Jinnah/ Gandhi and other about legs. Let me offer a compromise which might patch up your past altercations. Lets talk about Jinah and Gandhis` legs.
One of them had short and the other one long but none of them had it like the football players - even if they have iguana-like haircut. Nehru did not have much of legs but Lady Mountbatten liked them because legs of any kind are better than no legs of impotent Mountbatten. Master Tara Singh had better legs than all of them so everybody became envy and jealous of him.
Legs never played any real role in South Asia except for walking and running. They were often hidden behind pajamas, shalwars and saris although Punjabis made avaliant effort to make them visible in dhoti and lungi, particularly with erotic dancing scenes in Punjabi movies. It turned out that all the efforts by Mussarat Shaheen to attract public, west if Indus river, to her legs went futile and as she turned away from public in anger, cheers went through the roof. All the poetry remained fascinated with upper body. In the West, lately, lower body has started competing with upper body. No distinction is made of two legs, although it is the right one more often used such as kicking the door, playing football, speeding the car and pressing the breaks. It is very unfair with the right leg to make it equal to the left leg. This is communism and bloody commies are trying to publicize, ``In Defense of The Left Leg`` when the right leg has clearly defeated the left in automobile wars.
So what is ``Breaking News`` has to do with legs. Ask ZA Bhutto who thratened to break the legs of those MNAs who will dare to go to Dhaka to attend National Assembly session. And this was literally breaking news. It broke Pakistan.
Lower limbs played inconsequential role in the evolution of and tintelligence of homo sapiens sapiens. After all neanderthals had more powerful legs than us. It was freeing up the upper limbs, hands, due to walking upright by primates that set in motion a whole series of transformation by selfish genes in which blind watchmaker played no role.
So now there will be again a show of legs in Japan, by Brazilians and Turkish players next week. The kind of legs, poor Japanese can only dream of. There will be Muslim legs in red uniform (because of Islamists and commies common detest for noe-colonialism) and the Portugese speaking Catholic legs will be in greenish yellow uniform because not many indiginous amazonians are left to turn Amazon river red any more.
It does not matter if the legs are hairy or shaven as far as cows are concerned. The choicest steaks, the tip round, do not come from the legs anyway. Same is true about the legs soup, the nihari. The quality of legs does not matter in nihari. What else is added is more important as opposite to what is removed from the legs in the West. Adding on is a virtue, removing is vice.
So whatever happened to the legs of Jinnah and Gandhi? They are in the custody of almighty god, who knows for sure what to do wih them. One can try any form of channeling or wahdat-al-wujood of sufism to make a connection but for others it will remain a mystery. They were certainly biodegradable, therefore, better than the fiber glass ones!!!

Turkey seems to favor a short passing game. Senegal seemed content on defending . And Germany seemed like it was embarrased to defeat USA. Any other European team or Brazil might have handled USA soccer team differently.
As far as Bengal dominating Indian soccer goes , those days seem to be over. The last national champions ( Santosh trophy) were Kerala who beat Goa in the final. The best player to come out of Bengal in the past 2 decades is actually a Sikkimese guy by the name of Bhaichung Bhutia.
