sattar2 #25:

ON NUMBERS

So it is ultimately about numbers?…while I may occasionally confess to pleading the fifth…catch twenty-two aside…it may be better than the eighth…or it may be worse than the moral equivalent of chapter eleven…or while i may do some homework on the number nineteen...so the chapter thirty-one that am writing will conform to the other thirty while ironing out the wrinkles like four of this or three of that…am sober despite imam bu hanifa’s ‘char oongal’ allowance for the threshold of inebriation…but what earned my ire was not your having fun at urstruly’s expense…the fire breathing donkeys are dead horses…and you flog them incessantly not realising that you are flogging dead horses…er, donkeys…again and again…and now to twenty-five…you say…’…And when did being monotonous become a sin? …’…tauba tauba…honestly did you not know this?…you mean your ahmed or his mohammed never told you about how the greatest sin in all is being monotonous…the only thing that takes the cake to being monotonous is being living dead…take heed…o muslim (or pseudo muslim;))…avoid the fate ordained for the living dead and be not monotonous…the world is free…and wide…and the circumference is pi…twenty-two divided by seven…and while am on a roll...if the mai-baap carved india on midnight past fourteenth how come we insist on fourteenth as the big day and they the fifteenth?…is that the muslim penchant for doing things differently?…as abandoning jerusalem for mecca, ditching saturday for friday?…or how about this…adopting a waning crescent on the flag instead of a rising one?…and now we come to the sixteenth where this line …’ … your own god is not faring much better either …’…drew my ire…monkeys are one thing…do not ever drag god into your silly machinations…specially when abdul’s allah and ahmed-mohammed’s allah is the same one…pay heed o sattar two…if am piqued enough who knows what i may utter about ahmed when i get that prophethood…so what about one hundred twenty four thousand?…what is one or two more here or there?…save there is that catch twenty two…enough about numbers…enjoy your fourth…we had our first…three days earlier:)…sorry ferz...this guy had to be told about numbers...

farzana, you have two posts to choose from:

1) if this piece is autobiographical, i think wallowing in loneliness is a waste of time, writing about it is a bigger waste of time.... join the peace corps, adopt a kid, get a pet, or if i may be so bold, let yourself get involved with someone who falls short of your ideals (we all know ideals don`t exist anyway)....you may be pleasantly surprised...

myself, i would choose adopting a kid and drowning myself into motherhood, work, and a meaningful existence.... with effort, we all have the power to change the negativities in our lives.

2) if this piece is not autobiographical, it`s a great piece of writing. very convincing.

Farzana honey,

This is excellent writing, but I hope it`s not true. If it is, don`t despair, sister. There are thousands of unworthy men you can toy with and kick to the curb when you are finished with them. Much like toilet paper.

Cheers,

Lucy

Urstruly and others:

This has nothing to do with Ms Varsey`s article, but none the less, it is relevant to the state of the State of pakistan.

Why comment on the dirty hindus? They can take care of themselves. See the *hit we are in. I have said before Musharaf`s days are numbered.

Here is the latest editorial from the New York Times. Sir(s) your comments and analytical mind shuld be brought to this article and we should know of your thoughts on this. Dont duck urstruly. The pig-swill is on our collective face.

I am cutting and pasting the whole article here.

Political Quicksand in Pakistan

The United States has no more important ally in the war against terrorism than Pakistan. Were Pakistan and its nuclear weapons to fall under the control of Islamic fundamentalists, American security would be gravely threatened. That is why it is critically important that Gen. Pervez Musharraf deal smartly with the rising challenge to his pro-Western, secular rule. Mounting criticism from Islamic militants and the mainstream press has started to focus on his decision to ally Pakistan with the United States, and on the recent American pressure on Pakistan to stop aiding the Islamic guerrillas in neighboring Kashmir. The general has also infuriated many political leaders by moving to consolidate and enhance his powers in spite of his earlier pledge to restore self-government. These are serious problems that could abruptly undercut Pakistan`s role in the war on terrorism.

Since Sept. 11, General Musharraf has engaged in an impressive balancing act, shifting his nation from its longtime support for the Taliban in Afghanistan to an alliance with the United States against the Taliban and Al Qaeda. Last January he gave a historic speech explaining why Pakistan must align itself with the West and against Islamic militant hatred of America. It was a courageous address at a pivotal moment for Pakistan and the United States.

More recently the general has drawn criticism over the involvement of the Pakistani military in chasing after Al Qaeda forces in the semiautonomous northwest tribal areas, especially after 10 Pakistani soldiers died in an unsuccessful raid on a suspected Qaeda hideout. But General Musharraf has most overplayed his hand in matters related to Pakistan`s continuing support of the anti-India uprising in Kashmir and by his move to undercut, in advance, the results of the parliamentary election scheduled for later this year.

The explosive Kashmir situation has eased somewhat, in part because of the general`s assurances that Pakistan would halt its aid to militant groups operating in what is India`s only Muslim-dominated state. In the face of criticism in the press and elsewhere that he has been too compliant toward President Bush, who demanded a cutoff in aid to Kashmiri militants, General Musharraf must work harder to make Pakistanis aware that support of violence in Kashmir or anywhere else can only undercut the nation`s stability.

As for democratic self-rule, General Musharraf has unfortunately succumbed to a dismal pattern that has recurred throughout Pakistan`s history. He seized power from an elected government headed by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, with whom the public was clearly disenchanted. What General Musharraf has forgotten is that the public can become quickly disillusioned with a military government when it thinks the generals are trying to grasp for power and stifle democratic institutions. It was a blunder, for example, for General Musharraf to have sponsored a referendum on his leadership earlier this year, banned opposition groups from working against it and then declared that its passage gave him a mandate to rule for five more years.

Facing these sentiments, the general should not postpone the parliamentary elections scheduled for October. Nor should he take any steps to hamstring the opposition`s ability to contest them. Last month he proposed constitutional changes that would enable him to dismiss a new Parliament and prime minister and set up a shadow government in the form of a national security council that he could control, reducing the new civilian government to a puppet. These proposals should be reconsidered and promptly withdrawn.

The United States has an incalculable interest in maintaining friendship with Pakistan at this delicate moment. But Washington must encourage a return to civilian rule as the best guarantor of stability and popular support for the alliance with the United States in the fight against terrorism.

t bhai …

If I am getting some mileage out of the fire-breathing donkey issue … while having fun with Urstruly Sahib … is it so bad?

And when did being monotonous become a sin? I know I am rather dull and boring … which explains why spotty left the day he was old enough to walk. But besides that, things have worked out ok. None of my siblings had to be treated for depression … my landlord never increased my rent for being boring … and my two-year old thinks I am funny as hell. So tell me why should I lose any sleep if you find my posts monotonous?

As for your claim of prophethood … or godship …or choice words about prophets, Sinatra, or Zeenat Aman … who am I to stop you Sahib? Knock yourself out … while I’ll be busy barbecuing on the 4th, saluting the statue of liberty, and memorizing the pledge of allegiance to the cowboy in that big white building … Happy independence day, mate.

Farzana,

I`m not sure whether this is a character piece. I think the work that strikes such resonances with us is based in our collective emotional states. This is a moving work of writing.

I drag a boat over the ocean

with a solid rope.

Will God hear?

Will he take me all the way?

Like water in goblets of unbaked clay

I drip out slowly,

and dry.

My soul whirs. Dizzy. Let me

discover my home.

*

This world,

compared to You-

a lake so tiny

even a mustard seed is too large for it to hold.

Yet from that lake all Beings drink.

And into it deer, jackals,

rhinoceri, sea-elephants falling.

From the earliest moment of birth,

falling and falling

in You.

*

Coursing in emptiness,

I, Lalla,

dropped off body and mind,

and stepped into the Secret Self.

Look: Lalla the sedgeflower

blossomed a lotus.

Lal Ded

not bad. sometimes i try to confront my emotions like that but the result is so cheasy that i invariablly have to delete the file, and empty the recycle bin immediately afterwards so that no one might be able to chronicle such stupidity in my biography...

but this was not bad at all, very honest, simple and stupid (the word stupid has many connotations, please don`t mind ;)

i will tell you when i die if i feel lonely or not...

until then,

have a good time with your loneliness

Al Qaeda thriving in Pakistani Kashmir

Sheltered by Pakistani intelligence, officially banned Islamic militants are moving freely near the Indian border.

By Philip Smucker | Special to The Christian Science Monitor

TARSHING, KASHMIR – Nasir Ali, a wiry jeep driver, says Al Qaeda fighters from Afghanistan have arrived here in large numbers. He should know, he says, because he was the one who gave them a lift in from northern Pakistan after their escape from Afghanistan. ``I, myself, drove three Arab fighters into the center of Kashmir,`` says Ali. ``I carried them only part way in and their own jeeps met us and drove them the rest of the way. Hundreds have entered Kashmir in the last several months.``

Mr. Ali, an employee for a private transport company, described in detail subsequent meetings with Middle Eastern fighters he admires. Ali`s account, and several others gathered this week, of how groups of Al Qaeda fighters have infiltrated Kashmir present a harrowing prospect for Washington. Strategic analysts have long warned that Osama bin Laden`s Al Qaeda network is keen to exploit tensions between the two nuclear powers of India and Pakistan, whose governments both claim full rights to divided Kashmir.

Urstruly Sahib (Re #12): “…but some of us have lost our voices and some of us are cursed to fall in love with our own image...”

And the rest are destined to be killed for blasphemy by those who fall in love with themselves. Forget that Greek retard Narcissus … your own god is not faring much better either …

Unless it is a case of corrupt interpretation of the scripture … by those who believe in fire-breathing donkeys …

Take your pick … mullah MiaN …
