Happy Birthday Chowk and Members of Chowk!!
I am very happy to be a member of this Pakistani group. There are some very good ideas that are discussed on this forum. The people on this forum range from the terrorists to peace loving. I am very impressed that this forum does not enforce/mandate censorship, and accepts all comers, regardless of their point of view. This is the nice thing about Chowk that we can be free to discuss our views. Also, there is no senior or junior member of chowk. All members are equal and are free to express their point of view. This is very nice and very Islamic. Eventhough many chowkies are unIslamic in their viewpoint and behavior. A vigourous debate is always a good thing and hopefully we can learn form each other and respect each other. I just hope the calm voices of the peace loving members will overcome the rantings and ravings of the terrorists.
On this happy occasion, I would like to say that I am sorry if I have offended some of you chowkies, but all what I have said is from my heart. I do not regret it and I hope you will come to appreciate my point of view in time.
Peace by brother in Pakistan, India and all over the world.
P.S.: To editors: In your statistics it would be nice to know the demographics of chowk. Who is from where and what is the age groups of the members.

Kudos to Chowk staff on their dedication to having a community. It amazes me that when many dot coms have dropped out or have converted to subscription sites and then have dropped out, you still keep going. Must be that you really love sadhana, urstruly & ylh :)
People here crib a lot when things are slow. That`s the price you pay for producing a bunch of addicts..

There is something great about Chowk. And that is why people tend to stick to it. if you see most of the other websites including sulekha, the rate at which people come and leave is pretty high. But on Chowk, most of the regular interactors have essentially remained same over the last two years and some new ones have joined the mainstream. This kind of loyalty is very rare in the cyberworld.
PS Happy b`day Chowk.

Some ancient Chinese sage must have--and if didn`t he should have--said that the one least visible is the one most noticeable. I`m glad to see that Chowk staff follows that saying so well.
Thank you guys for giving us Chowk, where our paths cross. You guys are just great, especially my dear friend with whom I had a great conversation at Kabul Restaurant. No, my friend, the food was very good, and my company even better. The English language has a word for situation like that: conviviality--good food, good wine, good company! Next time it`ll be my treat.
Running Chowk may be a tiring job, but in no way it`s thankless. We Chowkies love you for what you have given us. May the Heavens smile on you!

Happy Anniversary Chowk and congratulations to staff, writers, interactors abd lurkers. It is better to be here than spending time somewhere else [although the best spending of time is to accumulate.........whatever...........for hereafter. hehehe]
Who has the most articles?
Who has the most postings?
Which article has the most and least responses?
Who is the best Muslim?
Who is the best Hindu?
Who is the most partiotic Indian?
Who is the most patriotic Pakistani?
Any Insaan outthere?
Who is most loved?
Who is most hated?
Who is smartest?
Who is most stupid?
Who is most handsome?
Who is prettiest?
Who is most literate?
Who is most ignorant?
The answer to all 99 questions is, of course, god.
Pick any number between 2 to 10
Multiply it with 9
Add the the both digits of double figure number
Subtract 5 for chowk`s fifth birthday
Assign letter to 1=A, 2=B, 3=C, 4=D and so on
Think of a country whose name starts with the letter for the remaining number
Think of an animal whose name starts with the second letter of that county
Think of the color of that animal
Why is it Black color? Allah ki marzi!!!

Here are some things Chowk`s wonderful staff can think about for the next year:
1)Convert some of the 2000 lurkers into contributors and interactors.
2)Either update the replies section more frequently or get some volunteers to do it.
3)If financial considerations are causing problems for Chowk, try converting it to a subscription site for users outside the subcontinent.
4)Would it be too much to look for 12-head`s IP address(es) and have your cgi scripts automatically disallow it to create more nicks? This mere threat was enough to discourage mullah urstruly from doing the same......

P.S: Hopefully we`ll see Chowk around for a while.

Happy Birthday, and congratulations on all the hard volunteer work, for a job well done. You deserve a lot of credit.
P.S. Don`t let the success go to your head. The subtlety of a shy smile is much more seductive than the excesses of lustful exposures....the simplicity of the barely noticeable yearly chowk@x, hidden within all the regular articles, was much more graceful than a front page full of articles of self-proclamation.....

A Very Happy Birthday indeed.
To all the invisible minds/hadns behind - an EXCELLENT JOB, WELLDONE, THANKYOU to all for adding a certain spice to existence. THe first time was - what a drrrry website. THe second - what gives?? why would anyone rate this the best website! They dont even have a movies section!! FInally my attention went to the little numbers next to each article title and there was no looking back after that. Better than early morning cuppachai - it has been a pleasure coming to this website ever since.

Happy Birthday to Chowk..
okay, so I`ll refrain from singing the HB song that my mother still sings to her four children at approximately the time they were born!!! (thankfully none of us were born in the wee hours of the morn)
Thank you for making this possible..and may we continue to live in interesting times, and have articles that make us swoon, cause us gloom, and make us boom!
Cheers to all the writers, contributors, the editors and the staff..now back to the champagne and Red Label!!!
a.
PS..agree with temporal (must disagree with him at some point!) about the link, and bringing back the current articles :)
