Upman,
Thank you, Upman. So long as we have officers like our CEC, and so long WE, as Indians, are willing to openly stand with them, we can be proud of who we are.
Thanks again for the link.

In Your Face # 18:
i dont get what you are trying to say...who
objects to not mixing politics with
charity.........what i`ve written are my political
views, i`m not mixing that with anybody`s
charity......if u object to my views u can say
that.....as far as i am concerned, never in
independent indian politics has right and
wrong been so clearly defined as in gujarat
today.....the closest was the Emergency and
`84 riots.......this was a state sponsored
pogrom by an elected government......and its
not that they are ashamed of it, they are
actively trying to make capital of it......if it works
this time, it can be repeated
everywhere........and its no time to be polite or
diplomatic about who is responsible, even if
they are in power and have many, unthinking
followers.....its good that the NHRC and EC
have spoken against it, but thats not
enough.....a national outrage about what
happened there has to be sustained....its not
sufficient that the BJP be `shown its place`.....it
has be to be ejected politically and
prosecuted for murder of innocent civilian
indians
...btw i have an opinion on kashmir.....its that a
plebiscite outside the indian constitution
cannot be allowed for the simple reason that
the result would not reflect sane, reasoned
thinking......just as an election in immediate
post- communal polarization gujarat yielding a
BJP govt cannot be considered to reflect the
democratic aspirations of an average gujarati,
a pan-islamist, pakistan executed oppressive
militancy throwing up an anti-Indian result in
any plebiscite will not reflect the the moderate
muslim kashmiri opinion.....for that we need a
stretch of peace and development, of which
there had been periods earlier........however
an election conducted by the EC, in a free and
fair manner, even if boycotted by
secessionists is credible enough to me if
there is no attempt to influence results
between the various parties who are
agreeable to the indian constitution

Good work. I talked to an old net friend of mine who now writes for a prominent net paper and here`s what he had to say about Gujarat which he visited just after the riots:
``Hello there,
Thanks for your note! I tell you, those days in Gujarat were scary and profoundly depressing. Something is terribly rotten in that state. And
it seems to me that more than removing Modi, or punishing people etc -- all of which must happen -- the real task is to change people`s mindsets. I
have no idea how to do that or if anyone is going to try.``
Try we must and thank you for doing that. What we need is another Gandhian revolution against the criminals who are running the Government. We should send them a message that the common man will not be cowed down by their threats and intimidation.

Ajay,
Nice article. Hope your efforts bear fruit. Here is another organization doing good work in Gujarat.
http://www.homestead.com/iref
I have deep appreciation for the CEC James Lyngdoh and his efforts to do his job right in spite of the pressure from the central govt. Its people like him and the Institutions that make our democracy great.
Regards,
Faruk.

Ajay,
Thank God for people like you !!!
Have you thought of contacting ``ASHA for Education`` or ``Child Relief and You`` for funds for your school ? (http://www.asha.org and http://www.cry.org)
This project is right up their alley. If an ASHA chapter adopts the projects I am sure you will be able to raise substantial funds for your very worthy project.
Good luck with everything !

I agree with Ali1 totally. There are tens of Gujrat waiting to happen in India right now. How many releif efforts would you conduct. The best course of action at this moment is to curb the anti-Muslim, anti-Islam, ant-Paksitan biggotry prevalent in your intelligenstia. Whether a Hindu is a Hindu Hindu, or a secular Hindu or an atheist Hindu all are neck deep into it. Your media, your government (unfortunately an elected one) leave no avenue unturned to spread their anti-Muslim bias. Why don`t you go for the root cause of this problem - end the anti-Mulsim bigotry, educate secular tolerance to people if you dont find it in Hinduism, and let them live. There will be no Gujrat, there will be no genocide, and no Kashmiri pandit will have to leave his house.

Upman:
1. Charity and politics do not (should not mix). Do you wonder why Salvation Army doesn`t really care what KKK does? Do you wonder why most muslim charities in US are being watched by authorities?
2. CEC is doing India proud ... showing BJP it`s place. And the world should realize that CEC is the BOSS when it comes to elections in India. Right?
3.BTW, is there any chance that you, arundhathi and your friends across the border will accept James Michael Lingdoh`s (CEC) word if he certifies that eleections in J & K were `free and fair`?

Ajay:
Thank you for your efforts!
If you want to succeed, keep away from people like Upman. Your stated goal is to build schools, distribute sewing machins but not to convince any body about BJP/VHP. I hope you stick to your stated goals, unlike lot of NGOs in India.

Asif Naqashabandi,
I read your idiotic post on some board, I can`t find it now, but I want to say that misguided mullahs like you are the biggest enemy of muslims and Pakistanis.
I`ll dig it out and give you a line by line response when I get the time.

re: Donations
Ajay,
Is a donation by check in dollars acceptable? Perhaps, as some chowkies are suggesting, you should have a secure and dedicated website thr` which we can donate. I know ASHA has one. I will hold on to my check until i get some answers from you or other chowkies.
