No, I haven`t read Chitra Bannerjee Divkaruni`s poem. Will look for it though. Thanks :)

Excuse me if I wasn`t around earlier to interact. Ever since the new site came up, I hadn`t been able to log on with the old PC.
rozaiba, temporal, scout (*gasp*), soundmeister (LOL), Binifer, harpreet, semipreciousme, Urstruly, Samina Shah, Ana; thank you all for your kind words. I`m truly glad you enjoyed the poem.
And so sorry to be tearing myself away from home and a loving family to return to what`s been turned into a warzone almost overnight. Karachi-waalon ke liye dua kariyega, please.

aamir,
what a good poem. Some of the images remind me of Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni`s poem `Blackout 1971`. Dunno if you`ve read it :). The energizing into another world via the transport and power of words, and being returned by the `gentle` child...i really like that contrast. thank you!
warm regards, ana

Urstruly,
re:``...Where is my last interact on this board. You have also deleted about 20 replies from my board ``Blasphemy Law...``
Consider yourself fortunate; not all of those replies were that interesting....and when a post appears mistakenly with your nick, reeking of pinko politically correctness and tobatoba reformism- take several deep breaths! :)

Where is my last interact on this board. You have also deleted about 20 replies from my board ``Blasphemy Law``. Other than that I am trying to make sense of new chowk. There is too much info on one page.

Saima;
[psychologists say that we do go into a trancelike state when we read]
- I know what they mean. I can be really grumpy if interrupted in the middle of a deep reading, the same grumpiness as when someone wakes me from deep sleep. (But I am usually grumpy anyway so its a moot point if it means anything)

Aamir;
[The quiet plenitude of words unfolds,
Words, crushed to a fiery powder,
Lick at the sleepy memory of a womb
Where anything can happen.]
- Superb.
A brilliant reflection on the abandonment of reading. My friend once described reading as the most intimate act imaginable, because, especially when you read a novel, you allow someone entry to your brain, allow them direct access to your neurons and imagination. I personally think when you become so absorbed in words it is magical.

…wonderful, wonderful, wonderful…you’ve captured that special smt that happens during a good read…when, even though you’ve reached the last page, you linger…just savoring it…

How nice Amir. The joys of reading and being transported into another world- a blessing and beautiful experience that so many dont know. You have captured quite nicely what it is you have tried to.
Do write more.

Aamir, take a bow....no poet has ever had scoutie say good one to them before!
But seriously, as usual--- nice job.... I like the build-up of tension that suddenly dissipates in the mundane act of dinnertime....nicely done
