Its an insightful article.I am saddened that a country which was founded on Peoples`Will over a half a century ago,has still to be told that it requires ``genuine democracy``by half literate machos.Thosewho voted for the destruction of the Bhutto family in a recent poll on the CHOWK may like to read this.Since Benazir is already going to jail if she lands in Pakistan we could hand over her three children to Serbs for a final solution. An ailing old lady called her mother could be hanged and buried by her already executed husband and her two sons. And her crippled husband in jail for the last seven years, could also be disposed off extra judicially. Is it any surprise that80,000 machos surrendered in 1971 without a fight?

That disablility has produced Nobel laureates Naipaul, Raman, and Chandrasekhar, Chess wizard Viswanathan Anand, Prime Ministers Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Vajpayee. To top it all, after 70 years of anti-Brahmin propaganda in Tamil Nadu, the Sangilikkaruppans have voted Jayalalitha to the Chief Ministership.
It is far better to be saddled with such a handicap than be granted the gift of flying planes into buildings.

WHAT was your point? My point was that Binalshibh was hiding in Pakistan for 1 year with ISI`s help. I also said that it is likely that bin Laden is hiding in Pakistan. Do you understand English?
[I have ALL hindians 85% of Indian speak lies about Pakistan.]
You should be grateful to the 85%. The 15% who are telling the truth about Pakistan are making life more difficult for Pakistan.
[Only the minority of India Muslim /Christians(arundhati,Dsouza,)are ABLE to speak the truth!]
I know, you guys have the absolute monopoly on truth as handed down by God in the form of Al-Kitab.
Screw you guys. From now on, you guys are going to behave or withdraw into the 7th century.

I don`t think in 1971 that ``the destruction was mutual`` (between Pakistan & Bangladesh). More one-sided, no?
The ``destruction was mutual`` bit was President Carter`s retort about Vietnam and the US. I was trying to draw a parallel with Mr. Musharraf`s recent speech in Bangladesh.

Latest news...Saddam agrees to weapons inspectors, with no conditions attached.. In other words he pees in his pants again. This time not the bombs, just the threat of bombs.
Your Musharraf covered his a$$ just in time.

Americanexpress.
``Imagine if Bush had chosen Atal over Musharaff...
Atal & bush would be just wringing there hands together !!!!!!!!!!!!! ``
With a nick like american express you should know better. When the B52s start dropping those bombs, hardier souls than Musharraf pee in their pants. Remember Qadafi, we have not heard a squeek from him since, his camp was bombed. Remember Saddam, he was willing to sign any thing so long as his hyde was spared. Remember Mulah Omar and Bin Laden, they are hiding in some miserable hovel in some tribal`s backyard. Remember Malovich, his own people gave him in when those bombs started raining.
Musharraf did not wait for the bombs. He put his tail in his legs and said told Bush you are next to Allah and your wish is my commad.
Unfortunately for the common Pakistanis Bush agreed. Because if he had not, Pakistanis would have gotten rid of the occupying army as well as the Mulah brigade in one stroke.

Hobbes,
re. #19:
`` On Chowk, readers may imagine that the armed forces of Pakistan are despised by ordinary pakistanis - but the truth is that generally, they are held in high esteem by ordinary Pakistanis.``
`despised` may indeed be off the mark, but whatever esteem there once was (which Pakistani cannot love an armed forces that repules evil India, hainji?) is fast dissipating. The only reason the army is tolerated in political life is because of an apparent depletion of choices. That, and the fact that Pakistanis are brought up to respect the uniform to the point of servility. Education, I can attest, has usually had the effect of eroding this respect in Pakistan.
(This is not to say that ordianry Pakistanis do not honour the memories of their brave soldiers, of which we have many)
But take away the threat (canard?) of an attack from India, and see how fast the halo over the arms forces disappears. Not that many Sindhis, Baluchis and Muhajirs have seen it for a long time anyways.
rgds,

The Pakistani left is so out touch with the people of Pakistan it`s sad how ineffectual they have opted to be - such an abdication of responsibility. On Chowk, readers may imagine that the armed forces of Pakistan are despised by ordinary pakistanis - but the truth is that generally, they are held in high esteem by ordinary Pakistanis.
The Pakistani left has in reality one goal, that is to see Pakistani society fail - in this failure will be their realization of a ``tabla rassa`` - they theorize. This same thinking has failed in all places where it was implemented. It is to the credit of Pakistan that they are tolerated and even given an opportunity to govern.
DOes it pay to be related to a army general in Pakistan? Does it pay to be related to a bank vice president? Does it pay to have connection in society? Duh?

[Nincompoop the Mianwalla case in Pakistan 6 people got Death Sentence .How many of your criminal who killed 2000 (just as much as 9-11) in gujjuriots, got even jail time ,dude???]
The 2000-strong Muslim mob that burnt the train in Gujarat has not been sentenced either. (Don`t tell me you have already forgotten the fact that Islamist thugs started the whole thing. Never start something that you can`t finish.) So, the Hindus and Muslims are just about even, I think.
By the way, do you think the courts have any validity in Pakistan? How about that poor girl who was shot dead in the offices of Asma Jahangir? her parents who ordered her killing are yet to be arrested. Oh, her mom is a gynecologist and her dad is the president of the Chamber of Commerce. I suppose their modern education has led them out of 7th century barbarities such as tumbling walls on wayward girls and instead humanely shoot them.
