C`mon guys, give Bina Shah a break. As the topic says, this is written for the ``pretty young things``. Read and enjoy it without trying to look for some obscure deep philosophical underpinning :-). People, dont take life too seriously :-)

:)

there are quite a few of these, materialistic designer name desi bimbos popping up in NY with a skinny cigarette tucked between their middle and index fingers and a small cell phone attached to their ear....speaking in an obnoxiously loud monotone about inconsequential bullshit to their gora boyfriends or equally obnoxious girlfriends.

might i add, they all have super straight hair and wear pointy witch boots.

how `real` is that.

Good mindless satire.......Amina Haq was a blast.....maybe marriage won`t turn her into a killjoy...................

The word incredulously should not have been used because I dont know what it means.

This is very good article and Dear Diary stuff never gets old. A lot of middle class folks who may have lived on the wrong side of the bridge might feel a little ignored by this article. I know I do. But thats why it works is funny & sounds real.

The pretty young thing does NOT accomodate readers who are not part of her reality. Geographically and culturaly she is ignorant & uninterested in everything beyond the Clifton Bridge. She must Ignore them poor bastards so a consistency is born between WHO she is and WHAT She writes. This was done successfuly here.

I dont see this as SATIRE. The writer can never get so close without relating. The writer did not pretend to be Pretty Young Thing when she wrote this. She simply found the pretty young thing inside of her and unleashed it... Writing is not acting. And this was writing.

I could not decipher it. Most of the people whose names are in bold letters are unfamiliar. Probably it is written for a certain croud.

Tahmed,

FJ is distinguishing himself as not only rubbish, but a special kind of rubbish....will someone post an article on Homosexual Banking to placate him?

``reminds me of TFT`s Amina Haq articles.``

I agree. but this is only satirical.

I miss amina haqq`s article. all that intelligence put to waste at writing stupid Girl Friday columns.

Seem to have read this before.
btw, to whoever writes it, I enjoy the Ittafaqnama in the Friday Times esp when your bhabhi smacks Nwaz with her purse.
Does Pakistan have a Jay Leno yet? India has once-a-week Shekhar Suman trying hard (I presume).

Just wanted to say ``don`t let the sourpuss comments get to you,`` because its good to see light humor. One gets tired of all the `academic` and political headache-inducing pieces that adorn these pages.

...SR

PS: Was wondering, though, where did the hives sneak in a food poisoning case? :)

FJ #3 You write ``Rubbish``. I assume you are introducing yourself, summarizing your personality in one word.
