the opposition to war on Iraq -- is NOT a movement to support Saddam -- Saddam is a mass murderr -- HE IS a war criminal -- and deserves to die

the Iraqi men women and children ARE Not -- and THEY don`t deserve to die

the crowning moment of Bush`s presidency was -- when he busted the balls of Islamist extremists in Afghanistan and Liberated the men, women and children of Afghanistan from that medieval tyranny of Taliban --

On that mission -- millions of moderate Muslims were with him all the way -- and are still with him -- and will be with him if -- the United States goes after Islamist Extremists all over the world -- and delivers the Muslims of the world from this scourge -- he will be a Messiah a Mehdi for the Muslims of the world ushering them in the modern 21st century

but NOT an attack on moderate, relatively modern, secular educated Muslims of Iraq -- not on Iraqi people battered by a Gulf war ONE -- and 12 years of punishing inhuman SANCTIONS -- and daily BOMBINGS -- and 8 years of incessant DAILY inspections --

MY COUNTRY the United States of America -- SHALL NOT KILL -- 250000 already battered -- IRAQI MEN WOMEN and CHILDREN -- ONCE AGAIN --

to capture just ONE MAN.

IT WILL ONLY STRENTGHEN THE ISLAMIST EXTREMISTS -- ALL OVE THE WORLD.

IT WILL be the SAME BLUNDER -- the United States committed -- against the leftist regime of Afghanistan -- actively PROMOTING AND ARMING Jehadism in Afghanistan -- that destabilized the whole region for decades –

and resulted in -- 9/11.

If -- the Bush administration can force through this build up Saddam Hussein into EXILE -- that will be the SECOND FEATHER in the cap of Bush`s Presidency -- and the world will salute him once again --

but an actual WAR against Baghdad and the people of Iraq -- and the ensuing death and destruction of Iraq --

will be the DOOM AND DISGRACE OF bush`s regime –

and will bring him -- as a WAR CRIMINAL to the Hague -- by the end of the decade.

btw -- Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice -- are NO ``uncle Tom and auntie Tammy``-- they are the only voices of moderation -- among the cackles of -- the Chicken Hawks -- surrounding the Texas oil boy.

Pankaj,

Hain Ji, ``Allah is just and kind`` and yet ``shows no mercy to incompetence, corruption and immorality``...and of course, the only incompetance that Gulab Jamun Muslims commit is forgetting to pay their heating bill and not say, the pernicious and evil incompetance of telling other Muslims and non Muslims ridiculous interpretations of Islam based on their own bigotry, and when he says corruption, it wouldnt be the inability of the local ISI to stay out of involvement with acts of terrorism in Kashmir. Also, don`t forget that immorality does not apply to criminal Panchiyats that proscribe gang raping as a punishment to young women and boys...and yes, this is the justice of a glorious Allah...Perhaps you should tell Gulab Jamun and co. that the rest of us have had enough of psychosis induced Islamic interpretations and have come back to claim OUR religion, even if it means cornering these squirmy little toads at every corner...

Ghalibzaman: since you seem to a proponet of knowing ones own language and taking pride in it over other languages, what are your views on Punjabis learning their mother language before jumping to urdu and english?

Support For War With Iraq Weakens
Majority in Poll Disapprove of Bush Record on Economy

By Dana Milbank and Richard Morin
Washington Post Staff Writers
Wednesday, January 22, 2003; Page A01

Seven in 10 Americans would give U.N. weapons inspectors months more to pursue their arms search in Iraq, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll that found growing doubts about an attack on Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.

In addition to the public`s skepticism about military action against Iraq, the poll found that a majority of Americans disapproved of President Bush`s handling of the economy for the first time in his presidency.....(WP)

six hundred sixty eight days left -- for good riddance......

Re: Saima

Freedom of speech is not about a person`s right to say anything; it is about the ability to tolerate what is being uttered. Chowk is, and was, designed to bring an interaction of various ideas and people, where all are free to think and say what they want.

When you seek to curtail the right of a person to say something, you undermine Chowk`s reason for existence; breed a sense of tolerance within a community, where tolerance is sorely needed.

Ciao

Saddam`s letter to Vajpayee

New Delhi(Jan 21):Iraqi parliament Speaker Saadun Hammadi on Tuesday arrived in New Delhi where he is expected to deliver a letter from Saddam Hussein to Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Hammadi is in India for a three-day conference of parliamentarians from 85 countries, but will meet Vajpayee to deliver a message from the Iraqi leader, according to the Iraqi embassy.

He is also expected to meet with Indian Foreign Minister Yashwant Sinha, Parliament Speaker Manohar Joshi and Indian political leaders sympathetic to the Iraqi cause, said Iraqi Ambassador Saleh Mukhtar.

India has opposed any US military action to remove Saddam from power.

``We strongly oppose any move by any country, however mighty it is, to remove any regime anywhere,`` Sinha said on Sunday.

He added Iraq should cooperate by allowing UN weapons inspectors to do their work freely. ``We want a peaceful resolution of the crisis,`` Sinha said.

UN weapons experts checked at least seven suspected sites in Iraq on Tuesday, a day after Baghdad pledged to bolster cooperation with the disarmament process.

Chief UN weapons inspector Hans Blix is due to give his update to the UN Security Council January 27 about progress made in tracking down Iraq`s alleged weapons of mass destruction.

There has been widespread speculation that the United States may use the date of January 27 as the threshold for deciding on military action against Iraq.

Too bad when Allah reminds you not to be such a bigot, you dont seem to hear it...and perhaps we should note that specific languages in certain countries are made the language of the country because its speakers are in positions of power...so the working folks you profess to care for don`t even speak those languages-or the obfuscating language of the Islamacists who have realized that ``because the Q`uran says so`` doesnt qualify as a legitimate argument anymore....

ghalibzaman:

urdu is not the language of most pakistanis. better approach would be to provide support to all languages (sindhi, baluchi, english etc) and let people choose whatever they want. all attempts to impose a language from top down will lead to failure.

who says uncle sam cant introduce democracy in countries it occupies:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A24537-2003Jan21.html

As for Mutairi, he has become perhaps the most public example of how far the Kuwaiti government is willing to go to defend its alliance with the United States. In a country where officials often tout freedom of speech, Mutairi is standing trial because of a television interview in which he criticized the war in Afghanistan and the Kuwaiti government`s alleged torture of citizens who had fought there on the side of the Taliban. Twelve Kuwaitis are interned by the United States at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, for taking part in the war, and Mutairi said in an interview that he believes the U.S. government may have pressured the Kuwaitis to make a case against him.

#76: Pankaj

My sentiments exactly---a 100%.
Please read again.I said learn any # of languages but there is no glamour in taking pride in not knowing one`s own language. Angraizee purrh---angraiz naa bunn.

I repeat:Name any other country which conducts its affairs in an alien tongue WITHOUT being illiterate in ones own.

You from India are perhaps not aware of this but in Pakistan this perversion is almost an epidemic. This brahmanism, an anathema to Islami values, is rampant without an iota of guilt or shame. From Ghulam Mohammed to Mushharraf this corruption & perversion is a national cancer. It is this low-class unglisized ``elite`` which has rented the cultured and learned fabric of Pakistan. The military & bureucracy is rife with such scum. The culture of plots and pay-offs prospers because no FAARIN style can never be maintained without such `rights` of the ruling class. Allah has warned us that when a nation cannot manage its own affairs another more competent one replaces it. All the signs are there. Being a margarine muslim has no especial privileges in Allah`s eyes and any morally upright and competent non-muslim has every right to take-over. The hereafter is only for believers. In worldly affairs (secular), too, Allah-is just & kind and shows no mercy to incompetence, corruption or immorality. The laws of matter or physics are the same for anyone & everyone.

mastram:NO
Farsi was the official language of Hindostaan before the British occupation in 1857. And Ghalib, his contemporaries as well as his predecessors wrote extensively in Urdu , Rekhtaa, khari boli , and brj bhasa as well. Hindi did not even have a script before the British intrusion. Hindu scriptures were initially translated from sanskrit into farsi and urdu by muslims. Brahmins were not too keen to let the lower castes even listen to certain slokas.

As Japan, China, malaysia(official language hindi & malayee), Iran & all others have proven that Syed Ahmad Khan was totally off his rocker. NO wonder we are still slaves----the special treatment accorded our passports is a living testimony to that. I know Indians are treated somewhat less shabbily because its leaders DO exhibit a lot of pride in making themselves look walk and talk as Indians. So do Bangladeshis. Everyone including myself admire them.

romair: I am not deciding the war. In fact the ones who are protesting are not deciding either...they are merely protesting against something that they have no control over. My deciding moment was over 2 years ago when I voted against Mr Bush and his party...from top of the ballot to the bottom..all the way.

>>At the very the very least, the war-mongers should support a poll in Iraq to find out what the Iraqi people`s view is regarding an attack by the USA, before stating that they are doing this for the benefit of the Iraqis. But then again, such a poll may provide information that would be contrary to the statements of those playing God. <<

Dear sir, first please come down to earth and tell us what kind of results would you want in this poll? 98% like Sadaam got few months ago or 97.5% like Musharraf did few months ago. dubbi taaN je saah na ayea! If Iraqi ppl could go to poll freely phir problem ki ay? We will not know yet what iraqis have to say but I can pretty much guess you will be disappointed when they spoke.

From today`s HBL

Are Musharraf`s fears for real?
Rasheeda Bhagat

We like to think — or rather we comfort ourselves with the thought — that the West, especially the United States, is caught in a frenzy of Muslim-bashing. We try not to realise that our own condition, a mixture of ineptitude and backwardness, is an invitation to bashing. We are not the victims of a cosmic conspiracy. We are responsible for our backwardness ourselves.

SO WROTE the Pakistani columnist Ayaz Amir in his weekly column in the Pakistani daily Dawn dated January 17, a full 48 hours before the Pakistan President, Gen Pervez Musharraf, made the rather startling — for his countrymen, that is — — statement that after the US had done with Iraq and its President Saddam Hussein, there was ``impending danger`` of Pakistan being the next target of the ``Western forces.``

Addressing a distinguished group of Pakistani businessmen and industrialists in Lahore on Sunday, he painted the doomsday scenario that when this happened ``we`ll have to work on our own to stave off the danger. Nobody will come to our rescue, not even the Islamic world.``
