You stepped into a new exciting level of awareness accidentally. We created opportunity by planning with friends sitting on back bench during Islamiat class. One, possibly one or two years older than us draw a cartoon and our curiosity to prove it right led to proving him right. Few years later, thanks to an honorable_syeda, we became honorable too. Later pretending it to be accidental but intentional in reality, I forced myself baptized into najeeb-ul-tarfain honorable with the same honorable one. Praise the lord! Amen.

I guess this article could serve as the script for the Bollywood or Lollywood version of the movie ``Summer of `42``. Complete with the sexual intercourse between the young boy and the older woman replaced with beating around the bush (or peeping around the bush). And with the emotional sensitiveness that provided beauty and pathos to that movie completely lost in the translation.

There is that one day in the life of every growing up boy when he first gets to know the facts of life. He is literally shocked and it gets him to thinking on this issue on the quiet and very secretly.

My Summer of 42 occured in the Summer of 69 - i.e. my confused love for miss Batool)

I wonder how & when the girls in our culture get to know this. Some perhaps on their ``Suhaag Raat``.

It is amazing how many events brain remmbers and how many it does not. My own feeling is that brain compartmentalize or turns older memories into folders because they are lamost always come out aa a package. Although your article specifies only one area, but thinking of it for me immediately downloaded childhood as folder as compared to downloading puberity as a file.

It was a place known as Westridge, Rawalpindi, I learned to walk, run and started going to school. The names like, Roberts Lines, Cannaught lines and Palmer lines came to mind alongwith puberty related event (s). The bus ride from Roberts lines to Palmer lines came back with all the markers along the way. Actually Rawalpindi garrison was well kept place with solid, well maintained buildings, tree-lined streets and good roads. Yesterday I felt more impressed by the contribution of British Raj than before due to visualizing the condition more than 35 years ago. Saddar was only a mile or so away from Palmer lines school. As we grew older, we started going to Saddar more often, looking at the women posters at the only cinema house. Then we discover Mall road within wandering distance, three more cinema, with names like Odeon and Plaza and English movies posters. I believe, those poster really influenced in expediting and enjoying puberty. Moving to purely residential Islamabad, all of a sudden for us kids, changed the growing up style. Now residential streets were the center of all activities, every street havig an alpha male boy and a gang. The gang would go to school together, play on the street together, fight against the neighboring street gang together, tease school-going girls together, smoke cigarettes together, peeping couples making love at night and buying third class movie tickets together by helping one guy to push his hand through ticket booth window.

Folder closed and shelved again until next time.

Reminds me of a Miss Hayat with a pair of huge (cup sizes were beyond our comprehension then) and a parker pen perked right in the middle, like a referee between the two wrestlers, and bunch of us pushing and shoving each other to get close to Ms. Hayat for a ``look see``...

The days of innocent curiosity, and infinite imaginition, I would say!

nazarhayat #6 ``There is that one day in the life of every growing up boy when he first gets to know the facts of life.``
I think most growing boys in Pakistan get to know the facts of life not by peeping at sexy naked female teachers, but (a) by experimenting with themselves or with other boys, (b) being sexually assaulted by an adult (particularly in the frontier areas). Not as pretty as being introduced to sex by a sexy older female. But nevertheless, closer to the truth I think.

Nazar,

An interesting theme. Almost every boy growing would have an experience as the one you describe.

We had a teacher name Usha... She would have been chubby by todays standards, but to us boys she was the personification of beauty. Talk about running errands for, we couldn`t wait for the words out of her mouth before we ran to comply. She would sit on her chair and put her legs on the table and her skirt would open up and and I will leave the rest to your imaginations. I doubt if we ever heard a word she said.

So the first ``sensuous summer`` is a universal phenomenon. The secrets residing in the far hidden recesses of brain are gradually coming out:

Ajeet`s first fixation............Usha
nadeemakr`s first fixation......Miss Hayat
Mine....................................Miss Batool

I am waiting for the secrets of Tehmed32 and Ansari Sahib (and others) to flow out -- It is good for the system.

I wonder if you watched miss universe competition today on NBC but it was more entertaining on Telemundo, Spanish language station. Ooooo la la. The Puerto Rican beauty was worth watching. What a photogenic face!

Probably, Mr Nazar Hayat Khan needs to be designated as Chowk`s Resident Expert on illuminating topics. Since, all his focus of illumination revolves and has been revolving around women and their anatomy, so probably, my first assertion is slightly skewed. It should be: Resident Expert on Women(with a certain perspective). That`s it!

No offense meant or implied to the writer. Just felt like stating an observation.

Nazar sahab,

``I am waiting for the secrets of Tehmed32 and Ansari Sahib (and others) to flow out``

As Mushtaq Ahmad Yusufi said, ``Humn tau uss bholi bhaali nasl se hain jau samajhtay they ke bacchay buzurgon ki duwaon se paida hotay hain.``

Warm regards,

Aamir

If a childhood fascination leads you to give this designation to Nazar Hyat, than all boys will quality for this title. We all have gone through this stage of ``admiring`` our teachers, than neighbours and later in life classmates. However, most of us, if I am representative sample, were never bold enough to do anything more than carry books, or run erands for them.
