For all who leave Lands of Islam for Lands of Kufr & Shirk, this is an example. O` Muslims, Kuffar are not your friend and your home is with your own brethren.

Its lovely that you translate in order to make the what the urdu journalists write more accessible. Moreover the quality and range of their writing is interesting, from the reference to Sylvia Plath`s poem to the male/female quality of Nirma`s dancing. I just want to say something to #3 kashifaziz, to chuck his holier-than-thou attitude out the window. Are there not Muslim brethren in the States?

`For all who leave Lands of Islam for Lands of Kufr & Shirk, this is an example. O` Muslims, Kuffar are not your friend and your home is with your own brethren. `

Thanks for your isolationist view point, question for you

1) If i am a native `gora` British Muslim convert, why should i leave my family and land?

2) If Muslims don`t live in other lands, how will Islam spread, and how will Muslims learn from others?

Its attitudes like this that have got us in the current BS we are in....

anNY # 4: There are several weekly newspapers from NY in Urdu and English. Either they have arrahgement with Pakistani newspapers or just copy Pakistani news from Pakistani newspapers brought in by every PIA flight from Pakistan. These papers are free of cost and distributed at the restaurants and grocery business. People just pick them up from these outlets. The source of income for these papers is advertisements from Immigration attorneys, travel agents, money transafer through hundi system, and southasian businesses such as groceries, halal meat, audi/video stores etc.

The local journalists are mostly part time doing it on the side as a hobby, just as posting or writing ar chowk. These newspapers take sides openly on matters of Pakistani politics with supporters of Nawaz, MQM and PPP.

The contents are arranged in Pakistani newspapers style, giving a page or two each to sports, entertainment, children, op-ed/ editorial, women and interpreting Islam.

The best one is Pakistan Post with most pages, advertisements and arrticles. However, as you notice the comparison of Nirma with the story of Heer-Ranjha displays poor knowledge and background of the journalist. Heer becoming of Ranjha is Sufi stuff with merging one`s identity for the love of lover (as in love of god). The Nirma in Persian is not related to Sufi stuff.

ana_dobatah # 9: This is called `hor choopo ganney` in Panjabi when you start acting on the basis of imagining bashing to take place. That is pre-emptive to warn bashers not to come here who are busy with bashing Gandhi and Jinnah.

hari: We, southasian Americans, all mourn the loss of Kalpana Chalwla today. She was part of the common desi American pride. My condolences to her family, friends and all desi-Americans.

Did anyone see the film 11/9/01?

I saw it yesterday in NYC. It is probably one of the most powerful and moving films I have ever seen. GO AND SEE IT.

Mira Nair, Samira Makmalbaf among the filmmakers; will try to post something on it shortly.

Muslims are fleeing from US because of religious persecution, ethnic hatred, discreminatory laws, and because they are being denied legal due process. Canadian government is doing a shamful thing by not granting asylum to these victims of hate and prejudice. It is against what Canada stands for. Canada is denying its own history of tolerance and acceptance and following the path of hate and discrimination of Muslims as its neighbor. I must appeal to the Muslim community in Canada to pursue their senators, ministers, neigbors, human right activists, lawyers and representatives to help these unfortunate souls and refugees.
