Chowk staff,

May I suggest that you also add a section that shows IP addresses used by a user. That would give us a very good idea of how many 12-heads are lurking here at chowk.

I am simply amazed at this story written in Urdu from a female writer in Pakistan.
I now recall that in the NWFP (with least number of minorities), our district soccer team captain was a Christian. At school and later at college, I had Hindu and Christian classmates. At work, I had a Hindu colleague. I don`t remember that we ever treated each other in a different way just because our religions were different. I agree with Indian contributors here that we have such a small percentage of minorities that we don`t ever notice their presence.
However, one thing is true. If ever there was any discrimination against the minorities in Pakistan, our parents (the founding generation of Pakistan) were perhaps guilty of it. We, the second (or the truly the 1st) generation Pakistanis mended the things and never discriminated against other people on the basis of religion. Now, as the things stand, we do witness aterrible backlash from the people who are losing their ground to humanity, fairness and equality for all.
But what about Indians? Their founding generation was secular and not biased against the minorities. These were the people who were revered by the world. However, the present generation is all set to rectify the mistakes of their founding generation on this account by electing fundamentalist Hindus to power.

Ah Ismat! She had a way about her.
Some of these translations can be irritating but I must admit this is good. One of my friends has asked me to translate some of his works recently. I will probably get some help from reading your work here. Thanks for all the effort.
