Urs,

Picasso`s Guernica, Eugene O`Neill`s plays, Adam Zagajewski and Sappho`s poems...good luck with your musical instruction...

I am not into music much; aside from thumri and dadras when I practice my kathak on alternate days from my karate kaataa, there have only been two groups that I have been able to follow loyally: Vital Signs and Pink Floyd.

saminashah

I think it is the anarchist - the kid in me who will never mature and never grow old. By the way, The Wall is the ultimate cry of pain, that emnates from the heart. I have yet to see a piece of art that is truer than this.

Urstruly,

Really....you need to just put down that joint and get rid of your hippie vinyl connection....I find it a little disturbing that youre quoting the lyrics to an album thats a rite of passage for young adolescents...a man at your age...

Saminasha:
8. Call equally on girl students as you do boys. Give female students consistant and respectful attention.

MaiN to kehta hooN all this studying is bad for girls. According to Hazrat Allama Imam Maulana Judge Kalaam-e-Imaam, imaam-e-kalaam a`la hazrat Akbar al Ilahabadvi rahmatullah alaihi:

ta`leem laRkiyoN ki zuroori to hai magar
khaatoon e khana hoN, saba ki pari na hoN

You don`t need to do PhD to become khaatoon e khana, unless it`s in homiknaamiks.

We don`t need no education
We dont need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey! Teachers! Leave them kids alone!
All in all it`s just another brick in the wall.
All in all you`re just another brick in the wall.

``Why do you bother trying? Children are horrible, work is horrible, and the food stinks``,

HAHA! Reminds me of my Accounting teacher in Class 11 and 12, guy named Anand Swaroop..also known as Don because of his Amitabh style covering the ears hairdo.

Here was his opening statement on the first day of school for Class 12:

``Today we going to study Consignment Accounts. Everybody think it is very easy. But actually very difficult. Everybody fail. Everybody get 33 marks. Nobody pass..Okay, open books.``

Ofcourse, in all fairness he was also a teacher who was technically proficient and that is something I have never understood...

What makes a better teacher? Someone with complete mastery of the subject or someone who may have comparativly lesser knowledge of the subject but is better at inspiring students?

T-Bhai,

Oh, for the virtues of sober, reticent and calm maturity...I`m pretty sure we ALL have our moments...but then, you wouldnt be responding if I were a paragon of good manners, would you? Interestingly enough, the students of some of my saltier colleagues seem to have a good deal of respect for their looser approaches...but I wonder, why such a minority of progressive professionals on Chowk?

;)

...let me get this right...do you mean not all are adults here?...my goodness! what an insightful observation sammi...hmmmm...this explains the juvenile diatribes and pontifications on other boards and unplugged...

(and yes am utterly serious)

T-Bhai,

Well...this is at the uni level, so we`re all adults at least....well, some of us anyway. My fav. recent story is of two very bright profs. who are co-teaching a Ph.D class and spent the entire first class debating the merits of the readings the other had assigned. Now THATS entertainment! I`d pay to just watch that class...

...still have nightmares...if i make a silly grammar mistake miss val d`ramo would dispatch obl personally to take care of me...(shudder)...between you and samm no wonder i was a lousy student and luckily for devils and brats strayed away from teaching...

lve,

t

(ps: yes, one of these days will reply:)
