Roshan:
I am not suggesting that we should boycott American goods and services because I say so
All I am saying it that it is about time that we act as a nation and not as bunch of people clubbed together by MA Jinnah...
We need to rise as a nation...
agree or not

No matter how much good relations government of Pakistan (or France) have with US, but what can it do if people are not buying. I do not think that any government can compel people to buy something which they dont want to. One must understand that this mattr is now not between the governments of this planet but now it is US versus the people of the world united. This is the wave of the future. And this boycott will be most successfully arranged in the US. The people in this super-size value meal consumer culture of glut will find it a thing of novelty at first. Keep in mind that this culture used to have gluttony of freedom as well and now the sources of this freedom are quickly drying up. So boycott is the only way the people will feel empowered. Consumerism in a police state - that is going to be some fun.

Lux is sold in Pakistan @20 rupees compared to 12+/- in India, economies of scale..may be may be not...
Of the twenty rupees that a Pakistani spend on buying a lux, induced by provocative bill boards, he or she ends up paying 8 rupees for advertisement cost... of that a big chunk goes into the pockets of a few ad. agencies and a couple of models who have no qualms in showing off their easy earned money...
sufi soap or lifeguard soap on the other hand do not enjoy the back up they need to compete with Levers so they suffer...
the purpose of the post is simply to:
1. lookwithin and not beyond...like we the Pakistanis have the habit of claiming foreign fathers, Arabia, Persia, Afghanistan and so on and so forth... Mahtab (moon) is as much an ``infidel`` name as is ``Chandar``...but Chandar is ours and Mahtab is foreign! Indu as in Hindu as in a person of darker color is what middle east think of us...muslim or non-muslim
2. think of solutions and don`t harp on problems; Pakistanis need solutions not a mention of problems
3. Stop exorcising the minds of young men in the name of religion and send them to die in foreign lands in the name of religion while you enjoy the luxury of a parliment, daily allowance, perks and the right to have the national flag flutter on your car`s hood.
4. Win the popular support that you are a nation and not a group of people forced to live together in the name of religion.
5. The idea to boycott American goods and services is not aimed at hurting US economy, it is aimed at Americans to realize that we are a nation and not a loose confederation of people held together by the armed forces.
6. No more rhetoric, while you cry wolf, your sons and daughters are enjoying the comforts of what the American way of life has to offer... and that goes for Musharraf and Qazi Hussain Ahmad...
7. Self Reliance: If India can do it so can Pakistan... Tata and Mahindara would not be the same if India was to allow Honda, Toyota and Suzuki to ``locally`` manufacture their cars and sell them to the locals at stupendous prices as they sell it in Pakistan..
I apologize to the readers who thought my post was mundane...
It is not...

I think it will be the height of stupidity for any nation, not to diversify their exports and imports at this time. And I think the process has already begun from the Western Europe - begining from Germany (3rd largest economy of the world) and France (7% of World GDP). As compared to US the efforts to develop hydrogen based vehicles in Europe have doubled. This is an effort to reduce dependence on fossil fuel.
At general public level an awareness must be raised around the world so that people compel their governments not to buy Iraqi oil - even if it is at half the price. The symbolic gestures of boycotting even toothpastes have tremenduous effect - after all it is not the governments that are selling toothpastes but it is multinational corporations that are selling these products - and the western governments are only representative of these MNCs. Just imagine, 6 billion people spending just a dollar less everyday. IN a month it mounts up to 180 billion dollars and in a year it closes near to 1 trillion dollars. I don`t think that MNCs or their governments can stand up to face a devistation caused by the loss of 1 trillion dollars in revenues.

BOYCOT OF F16s,
There is one person who has very effectively accepted the boycott call of nadeem and that is George Bush. As soon as the sanctions were lifted, mushy wanted the F16s, Bushy said no, and that is called forced boycott.
Pakistan has no mind, the so called educated are like tahmed, only schooled. Nadeems idea is good, it is response to the reality, it is new to pakistan, newer than thee book that initiated and supports blasphemy laws and honour killings.
Pakistanis can only follow something, they cannot think, thy cannot even accept a commonly accepted norm, even the educated cannot accpt. Ask any pakistani, take tahmed for example, ask him about killing of kafirs and what the book says.
Before pakistanis can talke any action like product boycott, they have to evolve from homo erectus pakistanicus.

The British Propaganda succeded in teaching all the students - they left due to boycotting of British Goods by the Indians. They promoted Gandhi, as the Chief Boycotter.
Who do you think American Propaganda machinery will promote? Usama Bin Laden?
It is confusing!!!
