``British Muslims seem more apathetic than annoyed.``

Nobody seems to care about standards any more. Zamana tha ke British Muslims barely slept, they were so busy burning books by that insane Mr Rushdie, lobbying Parliament to fund Islamic Schools, and monitoring Page Four for any hint of hijab. Apathetic? Not annoyed? The youth of today is a great disappointment.

Ali G is hilarious! He has become an icon in the UK for the past 3 years with his interviews in which he pokes fun at the establishment. After two series though celebrities here found out that any interview with him would just make them targets for ridicule so he has moved for his latest series to the USA. He pretends to be a white-guy-pretending to be a black guy! Basically he satirizes the `gangsta` street-culture. The film wasn`t very good but his interviews are genius! The whole premise of the joke is that the older generation of people from the establishment do not understand the street talk he uses! He once interviewed a famous feminist in the UK and asked her if she thought women should all try `feminism` at least once in their lives! Of course it took a while for her to realise he was talking about lesbianism!! Or his immortal line to a police officer in the UK who tried to stop him crossing a blockade, ``Iz it coz I is black?`` Much of his humour has sexual connotations and is crude but it is this shock value in his interviews --no interviewee expects such blunt questions!--that make it a success. Like in last weeks episode in the Ali G In DA USAiii series he interviewed some former senator who knew Hilary Clinton and he asked the elderly man, ``Does Hilary Clinton drink from the furry cup?``
When he continued in this line of enquiry as to whether or not Hilary was a lesbian and the senator kept on dodging the question diplomatically Ali G said OK if she has just cough. Then he stopped asking questions for about 2 minutes and stared at him which made the old man uncomfortable. Ali G kept on indicating with his facial expressions that he wanted the old man to say yes. Finally the guy lost his temper and said what are you doing? I am waiting for you to cough! came the reply!! You are stupid was the reply and that was so funny!!

In another episode he discusses the book Animal Farm by Orwell with some serious literary academics except that Ali G is referring not to the book but the notorious porno with animals. So when one of the old men says he likes the bit with the pig Ali G says, ``thats disgusting!`` etc.

VEry clever. VEry British.Aiiiii! Boyokasha!!

:D

And I thought only feminazis didn`t have a sense of humor, as per some of the usual pip squeaks on board here....lighten up, honey! Don`t hurt your little heads! Be happy!

Ali G. is as funny as veeresh after a couple of pina coladas. Hopefully he`ll discover religion and leave us all the agony of suffering through his moronic tirades.

I saw his movie and that was rubbish. Friends who`ve seen the shows, however, appreciate his sly mockery.

You read about Ali G. on May 7, read some reviews on the internet, and on May 9 you have an article on Chowk.
That`s the power of Information Technology !

Shouldn`t you have bothered to see the guy for yourself?
