ur man deserves a kick up his back side, why our people are colour obsessed i still dont know... theres nothing wrong with being `sanvli`... khair i hope u do well at work, and ur man can appreciate you for who you are, so maybe one day you can walk out the office happy and take the same smile home...

take care

``kya amma, aap ne to kaha tha shaadi ke baad iska rang khul jayega…``

this is very nice!!! I can just visualise how the amma would have convinced the reluctant groom!!

very good writing.seemed to be an enlightened person.husbands usually have sore tongue.
some times they are threatened by wife``s good look.that is a very enjoyable moment.

Sameena

It was your first attempt at Chowk, but obviously not at English writing.

My compliments for writing such a flowing, speaking and driving article.

Sameena:

Welcome to Chowk! This was a very good piece of writing--I enjoyed it immensely--it was funny yet had a serious underlying message too...

I think that to an extent all guys are obsessed with looks whether they admit it or not...
I can tell you from experience that looks aren`t everything!

Well hope to read more of you soon...:-)

.......men are dawgs - not some, not most - all men are dawgs..........it is the nature of the beast since god created man in his own image and eve was an afterthought ........we have been mistreating women since abraham dumped sarah for hagar and then dumped poor hagar in the desert after she put on a few pounds..........and it doesn’t matter if you are tinker, tailor, soldier, sailor, beggar man or thief .......doesn’t matter whether you are mitterand, clinton, khar, mick jagger, trudeau, sheikh zaid , donald trump or the khansama next door – the neighbor’s wife always looks prettier than your own who is barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen ...........

........ i know this because I am one of them, and also because mrs hamidm keeps on reminding me by saying ``admi ki zaat ka koi aitebar nahin`` .......and by god, she is right – given half a chance most of us would wander off with some floozy who bats her eyelids and fills out a tight sweater.........that is why I keep on telling my daughters that they have to get straight A’s, score a perfect 1600 on the sat, go to a good college, get a job and become financially independent so that they can tell the man to take a flying leap if he doesn’t like their complexion..........

A light reading. Interesting. Very Interesting. In fact, very very interesting...

Your attitude must be appreciated.

Is this known as compromising attitude ?

howdy sameena.
u really have me scared if this is the life awaiting someone who doesnt want to get married anyway. the similarity in ur situation n mine is surprising....except that im not married yet and i dont have a job (im still studying).
wish u a very happy n prosperous future both in ur office and ur home....but ur piece doesnt really put my apprehensions to rest. they r rearing up their ugly head again.

pata kiya...im still wondering vat my saaso maan and my fiance saw in me ...its not like im particularly endowed by nature in either looks, brains or `sugharpan` (yes they know i cant cook or anything and all i do is spend time online). plus i have to be the most anti-social person on earth! :D
i have been very mistrustful of my fiance professing to be mad about me, and his undying love, and his sincerity (oh puhleeez!), his claims that he cant wait 3-4 years for me to complete my masters and gain some experiance in a job coz he is dying to marry me (HUH??!!).
he couldnt have fallen for the looks coz frankly i dont have any, except if u count that smile ( yesh....like urs....but i dont even have long hair)
u sound like a vibrant, exuberant person...hope ur hubby dear learns to appreciate the gem he chose and doesnt do more damage to ur self esteem.
ooay! do u think he could be trying to make u jealous by talking about that girlfriend of his? hmmmm just a thought! ;) ~

Sameena

Loved it. You have a sense of humor. And written it very fluidly.

My wife has two personalities right inside the home:

One is the matter-of-fact no-nonsense Punjabi jutti towards me.
And other is soft, sophisticated, convent background and slees urdue towards the guests.
