KOZHIKODE: Transport Minister R Balakrishna Pillai inaugurated the Computerised Learners` Licence System (CALLS), as a prelude to complete computerisation of the RTO`s office. The office here is the third in the state, after Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi, where CALLS has been introduced. Under the new system, first an applicant will be photographed using a web camera. Then the applicant should take the test online. The applicant can choose either English or Malayalam as his language and 20 questions will appear in succession on the computer screen. From three choices an applicant has to select the correct answer by clicking on it. In order to pass the test you should get twelve answers correct. Nine or more wrong answers would mean that you failed the test. The total time allowed for the test is 20 minutes. At the end of the test, the computer displays the result of the test. The C-DIT and the National Informatics Centre are carrying out the computerisation jointly.
Bina, post this in your karach news papers, about events in a highest muslim percentage state in india. Of course for the needs of karachi, you can always adapt the computer technology, you do not have to follow the kerala example.
Take the case of edhi foundation needs. How to transport the corpses to the mortury, at least cost. This is a classic ``transportation problem`` of ops reaserch, to minimise the fuel costs, solved by ``shortest cycle algorithm``, every day in the morning, once the corpse locations are identified. That is progress for pakistan, using modern technology to solve traditional islamic problems, existed since 7th century, lets us call it the ``jihadic alocation problem``.

``But I take exception to the accusation in the article, never stated in so many words, but shouting from every line nonetheless: that the people of Karachi accept this state of affairs. That those unaffected by violence have no feelings for the turmoil and chaos that is a way of life for the poor. That as long as everything appears normal in Defence and Clifton, the educated and the elite can ignore what happens ``
DISHONESTY, thy name is bina. What the ehdi founadation collects every morning, 40 corpses every day on average is the fruits of jihad. At every street corner where the psosters cry of jihad, at every collection boxes where the pakistanis part with their few paisas for jihad, at every mosque that the mullah palks of jihad, the seeds of distruction of pak society is broadcast far and wide. It is nurtured by the ilks of bina by refusing to pour the poison of condemnation on jihadic killings, by refusing to spread the message that it is not necessary to kill the kafirs, and the man of TNT has to be given a place along with that man frome germany.
Bina, you do not care a damn about the killings of karachi, for you it is another article, another publication, another line on the CV. If you have any care for the human suffering, you will condemn the ideology at root of it rather than describing the suffering for yet another article.

From the CHOWK archives..
A Beggar From Karachi
Once like the current multitudes in Chappals
These legs also walked your dusty streets
As this was home, but now all but lost in memory
Clifton Beach, Saddar and the market no
Empress would much care to bless.
Paan stains or is it the crimson of blood?
Of the many young and now old, pierced hate
The metal of unholy bullets in still bodies
Widows, orphans and the ravages of
Jinns let loose in the bazaars of fearful lives.
Peace once walked through this city but
Like Mir, sons died here for many perceived sins
And the loss has now reached the healer Hakim who
By educating children was pronounced guilty of doing good
Sentenced to death at age 78 to leave us horrified.
Many names not as famous come to mind too but
Space limits and the pain of this madness erases
Man dreams burnt in the hot Tandoors of hate
Bigotry, selfishness and the smoke of street heroin
All are now experiencing the futility of addiction.
Very easy it is to blame the outsiders for oppression
But amongst ourselves oozes a little truth
The City of Lights calls for an era that once was
When the people of Karachi lived around the clock
And were not forced to plead for peace
Like this beggar from the past.

ferozk #26 Time magazine obviously fails to meet your standards of journalism.
Would be good enough to identify newspapers or newsmagazines published anywhere in the world that do meet your exacting standards?

Bina:
Your last paragraph is very impressive.
However, my question to Chowksters is how to respond to propaganda against primarily Muslim countries. Should some Pakistani organizations e.g. chose to immediately challenge such somewhat out of proportion gossiping in the court of law? Is it possible to do that? This maligning has happened before. As soon as Pakistani Government began taking some steps, the mis-informers disappeared altogether. See the following examples:
1. The western media quoted the arrest of ``shoe bomber`` without giving his name as one caught from Pakistan giving the impression as he was a Muslim caught from Pakistan. As soon as Pakistan`s FBI released the news that Mr. Reeve was caught long time ago and handed over to USA when he was entering Pakistan, the news linking to Pakistan disappeared and the name was also given to till that time unnamed shoebomber.
2. There was a sudden spate of news items all across British and American newspaper tabloids that Pakistan had leaked nuclear information to North Korea. When Pakistani officials began demanding hard evidence, the news disappeared altogether. One should note that the news item had appeared simultaneously across all such newspapers in a pattern that clearly indicates to have stemmed from an organized campaign.
3. Earlier during the US war on Afghanistan, American NYT had reported that Pakistani armymen were flown out of Mazar Sharif in time so as not to be caught. The news was denied. However, subsequently, the Northern Alliance was not able to produce a single eye witness to endorse their viewpoint.
oint to note is that all such news items seem to run under a campaign, especially in centers of Indian concentration and of Jewish influence.
Another important point to note is that documentary evidence of Indian connection to Iraqi Chemical weapons program was found, but the matter was not reported widely in the media.
Some points to ponder for Pakistanis.

I couldnt agree with you more. those who point out problems incessantly whitout doing any thing to solve those are in fact the main cause of problems.
a attempt at solutions is important but it is unfashionable to solve ``worlds problems`` here on the chowk or in a living room or any where else. apparently some one else has to come and take control (some were talking of the brithish comign back again for a few decades to take control!!)
Well you get what you deserve. the one who attemptssolutions sees only problems as more numbers which he is going to tackle in future.

I suppose the problems of mexico city can also be laid on this junoon similarly those of the street children killed for fun by police in south american cities are because of this junoon. Of course Indian cities are heavens on earth.
