Saddam and his cronies will be terminated InshaAllah. People poking fun at the situation are simply hoping that USA will fail and Iraq will burn in the flames of anarchy. Then all these Fiskians and Chomskians will sit by the fire, drink chai latte, and say ``I told you so``.

Those who beat the WMDNF (WMD not found) drums, should remember the Cuban missile crisis. JFK was ready to go to war based on what? A few pictures taken by U-2 flying at 40,000 feet! Those little picture were used for nuclear brinkmanship between USA and USSR. What if there was a war and USA had occupied Cuba. Where would be the real proof of the missiles?

Fast forward to present situation of NK`s on-again and off-again nuke claims and Iranian games. There is so much that inspectors can see and the rest is assumed based on the old adage of walking like a duck.

Why was Saddam not cooperating with UN with solid evidence? Why did it take two aircraft carriers and 125,000 US personnel in the gulf for Saddam to take inspectors in the country? The onus was not on Bush; it was on Saddam to prove that he had actually destroyed all the weapons. If he failed, we should blame his ``demagh choos`` (for uninitiated it is the rope to hold men`s scarf on their heads. This rope simply destroys the brains of Bedouins).

people in the Congress and the Senate are demanding -- that some heads should roll over -- the BRAZEN LIE of weapon grade Uranium purchase by Saddam in Niger -- for his `Nuclear weapon program` -- that the HMV President of the United States `was given` to `READ` before the world -- in his State of the Union Address -- as to why the United States MUST invade Iraq -- and must do it NOW -- before Saddam invades the United States -- as part of the infamous doctrine of the Buffoon B`s Preemptive Strike.

in today`s New York Times -- the lioness of the American journalism -- Maureen Dowd suggests that if there is any head that should roll over this scandal -- it`s President`s own head -- not of his lowly employee Tenet -- or his house cleaner Condi Rice -- (a poor excuse for a house cleaner indeed).

but then –- who can deny that one shouldn`t have some compassion for this President`s Handicapped Head -- the inside of it -- carries an ‘UNDOUBTEDLY` impaired mind....

MAUREEN DOWD
(excerpts)

The president and Condi Rice can shuffle the shells and blame George Tenet, but it smells of mendacity.

Dissembling over pre-emptive strikes is pathological, given over 200 Americans dead and 1,000 wounded in Iraq, and untold numbers of dead Iraqis.

Our troops are in ``a shooting gallery,`` as Teddy Kennedy put it, and our spy agencies warn that we are on the cusp of a new round of attacks by Saddam snipers.

Their defensive crouch and obsession with secrecy are positively Nixonian. (But instead of John Dean and an aggressive media, they have Howard Dean and a cowed/coward media.)

In a hole, the president should have done some plain speaking: ``The information I gave you in the State of the Union about Iraq seeking nuclear material from Africa has been revealed to be false. I`m deeply angry and I`m going to get to the bottom of this.``

The Bush administration has known all along that the evidence of the imminent threat of Saddam`s weapons and the Al Qaeda connections were pumped up. They were manning the air hose.

Mr. Tenet, in his continuing effort to ingratiate himself to his bosses, agreed to take the fall, trying to minimize a year`s worth of war-causing warping of intelligence as a slip of the keyboard.

``These 16 words should never have been included in the text written for the president,`` he said, in 15 words that were clearly written for him on behalf of the president.

But it won`t fly.

It was Ms. Rice`s responsibility to vet the intelligence facts in the president`s speech and take note of the red alert the tentative Tenet was raising.

Colin Powell did when he set up camp at the C.I.A. for a week before his U.N. speech, double-checking what he considered unsubstantiated charges that the Cheney chief of staff, Scooter Libby, and other hawks wanted to sluice into his talk.

Ms. Rice did not throw out the line, even though the C.I.A. had warned her office that it was sketchy. Clearly, a higher power wanted it in.

And that had to be Dick Cheney`s office. Joseph Wilson, former U.S. ambassador to Gabon, said he was asked to go to Niger to answer some questions from the vice president`s office about that episode and reported back that it was highly doubtful.

But DOUBT is not the currency of the Bush hawks.

Asked if he regretted using the Niger claim, Mr. Bush replied: ``There is NO DOUBT in my mind that Saddam Hussein was a threat to world peace. And there`s NO DOUBT in my mind that the United States, along with allies and friends, did the right thing in removing him from power. And there`s NO DOUBT in my mind, when it`s all said and done, the facts will show the world the truth.``

I`m happy that Mr. Bush`s mental landscape is so cloudless. But it is OUR doubts he needs to assuage. (NYT)

Indeed a cloudless/clueless -- `UNDOUBTEDLY` impaired mind -- of a born-to-kill man -- who is a poor excuse for a President of the United States.

Girl exposes coercion in Gujarat backery case

NEW DELHI, July 11: A 19-year old victim of the infamous Best Bakery Case, has ultimately found courage to speak the truth. She has admitted that death threats by BJP officials forced her not to identify the killers of her family in the court, reports the `Hindu`.

Zahira Habib Ullah Sheikh, who survived the massacre of her family on the night of March 1, 2002, during the worst ever communal violence in the BJP administered state of Gujarat said, ``what I said in the court was not true. I said it after pressure was put on me. In fact I recognize all those who attacked us that night``. A Hindu mob attacked and killed 14 persons in Best Bakery Vadodara in Gujarat. Her testimony to the contrary before the fast track court had led to the acquittal of all the 21 accused on June 27, in a case which was considered watertight on all accounts by the legal experts.

She said she was being threatened by BJP MLA Madhu Shrivastava, Vadodara councillor Chandrakant Shrivastava alias Bhattu and another witness, Lal Mohammed who said that they would ``kill her family``.

Zahira said Lal Mohammed, the witness who told the court that the accused had saved Muslim families from the mob on the day of the massacre, was a close associate of the Shrivastavas and had been constantly threatening her. ``I was so scared that when I stood up in court, I could not tell the truth. I also saw many Bajrang Dal people in court on that day and that scared me even more.``

She said she did not have faith in the police, lawyers, government or the courts of Gujarat and wanted the trial to be reopened in Mumbai where she now has the support of some independent groups.

Over 3,000 Muslims were killed in the communal violence in Gujarat last year.-APP

DO U NEED MORE PROOF OF HOW LOW YOU HINDUS CAN GET:

Haryana big market for minor girls
Rema Nagarajan
Faridabad, July 12

What is common to a minor girl and a buffalo? Both are on sale in Haryana and both are transported in trucks. What is the difference? The buffalo costs Rs 18,000 to 20,000, the girl costs about Rs 4,000.

Two weeks ago, the Hathin police rescued two girls, 13 and 15, of Tezpur and Guwahati, from Buraka village in Haryana. They were sold to two local men for Rs 10,000 two years ago by a trafficker, Hanif. Hanif is now missing; the 13-year-old is pregnant.

A few days later, the Hathin police rescued two more girls, 13 and 14, who had come from West Bengal. They fetched only Rs 4,000 each for their relatives who had sold them.

These cases, though, are only a vignette of what has been happening for three years. Thousands of minor girls have been brought from Assam, West Bengal and Hyderabad, and are sold in villages in Karnal, Rohtak, Faridabad and Gurgaon, say NGO workers. But state authorities aren`t getting into a flap over this. ``It`s just a question of demand and supply, a natural fallout of the state`s adverse sex ratio (820:1000),`` said a senior district official, who didn’t want to be named.

In fact, the Hathin police are in a lot of trouble. ``We have come in for a lot of flak from our bosses for rescuing these girls and creating a controversy,`` said a local police official.

Haji Abdul Rehman, sarpanch of Uthavda village said, ``There are thousands of girls from different states here, mostly brought for marriage. But some people have started selling the girls, bringing a bad name to us.`` He had heard of men marrying girls from other states, keeping them for some time, then selling them. At least his village was free of that, he said.

The girls are transported mostly by trucks ferrying inter-state cargo, and are usually from villages conveniently close to highways.

Ofcourse in India it doesn`t happen what so ever,
Bride burning, satti, witch killings I could go on and on, you Hindus are the worst
abuser of women in the world. You people are still living in the lala land.
and those women they caught were probably as pure as driven snow. It must be the
work of ISI.

Witch’ killings on in Jharkhand

Two women were burnt alive in Godda earlier this week on the orders of the village panchayat. The next evening, a 65-year-old woman was killed in neighbouring Gumla district. Their fault: They were believed to be witches. But these two incidents are just the tip of the iceberg.

Perpetrated by ojhas (witch doctors), such killings have suddenly shot up in Jharkhand. Officially, more than 30 `witches`, mostly tribals, have been killed, while NGOs working in the area say the figure could be 60 or higher.

The state had, in 2001, adopted the Prevention of Witchcraft Act to curb the menace. But the law enforcement agencies have little knowledge about the law, so it is hardly ever implemented.

Free Legal Aid Committee, an NGO that has been spearheading the witchcraft prevention movement since 1991, has demanded an anti-witchcraft awareness decade.

The NGO`s chairman, Premchand, says: ``In most of the cases, it`s either for sexual desires of the Ojha, if the victim is young lady, or for land and property, in the case of an elderly woman, that such crimes are committed. Therefore, in order to eliminate this superstitious practice the government besides imposing strict measures against the Ojhas also needs to come up with a package for their rehabilitation.``

hrrehman 4,

Action of the malaysians is a typical islamic reaction. A few months ago, they raided the houses of indian techies in KL and arrested a few on false charges, india cancelled the palmol;ine imports, banned afew malay companies from contracts. The police involved were punished, the ministers apologised. As can be expected from an islamic country, under increasing influence of paki jihadists have turned to the women. It is not very far off when malaysia will take the lead islamic path of pakistan and introduce honour killings. There somethinmg for pakistan to be proud of, as you have noticed, the malays are turning to attack women.

harrehman 4,

Malay response is a typical paki islamic response and no wonder that you found it interesting. A few months back, the malay police arrested a few indian techies, the indian govt cancelled the talks on palmoline oil imports, banned a few malay companies from construction contracts. Prompt came the apologies and few police men were charged. As can be expected, being a muslim dominated country, malays have turned to women. It is the same as in pakistan that legelised honour killigs, the malays are increasingly under the influence of pak jihadists . It is not very far off when malays will introduce honor killigs. Apparently malays are very impressed by mushy, with in the first three months of his taking power he invited the father of sahial slawar to confirm the he will not be charged for honour killigs and that mushy is in full support of this great islamic tradition. Pl read the article on chowk, titled something like ..``...hundred days of mushy..``

Ansari saab,

I have no sympathy for those who can see the future only in US$ terms. India banned the ECFMG exams from the country in 1972 if I remember correctly. The FRCS and all that crap from UK are not recognised any more in india because there is no reciprocal agreements. No sir, to accord human dignity to the fancies and fantasies and self aflictions of the elites of pakistan would be criminal, so says my inner voice from the young days when inquilab sindabad was the slogan.

Hasan sahab,

Thank you very much for your kind wishes. If it is indeed the same person who I think it is, I believe I have already met the doctor you refer to. The gentleman came to give a talk on leukemias last year when I was doing an undergraduate medical student elective at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. After the talk, which was for general pediatricians, he came up to the Hem/Onc department for an informal discussion with the fellows and the residents and it was there that I was introduced to him, as the department`s lone international elective student. It`s a very small world we live in, Hasan sahab.

I`m not sure yet if I have a problem because I haven`t applied for my visitor`s visa yet. That`s the main thing, to get your B-1 in time for you to make all your residency interviews. I`m hoping to convince my program, the one I match into, to give me an H-1, so that I avoid this visa hassle altogether.

I will however take you up on your offer in three or four years` time when I finish my pediatrics residency and am looking for that Hem/Onc fellowship!

Filhaal, aapki dua ka muntazir,

Aamir

Dr Ansari -- i hope you aren`t affected by this -- or are you? -- I was about to suggest to you for your Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at USF Florida -- the Head of the Department of Hematology/Oncology is one of my proteges -- if you are interested let me know -- wish you all success.

Jay sahab,

I don`t usually step into these India-Pakistan-Amreeka arguments but your comment, about Pakistani physicians being denied the J-1 for their residencies in the US, cuts very close to where I live. A fair proportion of those denied were from my school and I know them quite well. These people sat their US medical licensing exams in Karachi and passed them, the majority passing with marks in the high 90`s, and then went to the US to pass a third exam called the Clinical Skills Assessment, after which they were sent scurrying around the country to interview for residency positions. Three months of having endured this, they were rewarded with relatively outstanding placements for themselves and were thus enabled to return home satisfied only to be told now that they cannot go back.

I understand that to outsiders it may seem only a statistic, albeit an unfortunate one, but speaking as someone who`s currently going through the rigors of the same process it seems a travesty of justice to go that far, to be so successful and achieve that much for yourself, only to be denied the opportunity of realising your achievement. So, wise words though you may be sharing with us in terms of the mechanics of politics in specifics, perhaps it`s better to sometimes humanise and see beyond the numbers and the platitudinous reasoning they tend to provoke, and spare a thought for the people involved.

Regards,

Aamir
