Marches like these have more positive effect on peace than thousand articles Farzana Bee may write. When i hoped that muslims in India would condemn the bomb blasts, FB became defensive. Why only the muslims? Because any act of terrorism today is somehow linked to muslims terrorists. I am not alone in saying it. That is how it is. That is the common perception. That is why, condemning such acts and taking a pro-active stand means a lot. FB, in her whole article, did not condemn the bomb blasts. She tried to justify them. That was sickening.

re: Farzana bibi`s reply
Why do i think this author is retarded? To my question:
``Are the muslims in India (at least the leadership), who said they would abide by court`s decision, ready for this report? I think not. They do not want to know the truth.``
She says:
``It was the Kanchi Shankaracharya who changed his tune after so much publicity about his mediation. Therefore, the Hindus (at least their leadership) are not ready for the verdict either.``
Is this the answer? If the ASI finding says that there indeed was a temple in that site, would the muslim leadership accept the verdict of the Supreme court, whatever that may be? The answer to this question is a simple yes or no. No need to bring the Kanchi seer in this discussion.
Here is another gem.
To my question:
``why does Farzana Bibi think that this riot had anything to do with those documents?``, here is her answer:
``1.It is election time, and everything is fair game.
2.Politics is the mother of all invention.
3.There are goons out there who want to legitimise themselves and come across as saviours of a community``
So, she thinks somebody set up these bombs because it is election time! Interesting. Farzana bibi seems to know all the right kind of people. She knew that the documents yet to be released in Supreme Court would cause these bomb blasts. She now says she is aware of goons out there who can legitimise this dastardly act and get mileage out of it. Great investigative work for a journalist. Now, let us hear who these people are.
I am kind of sick of this whole thing. Farzana bibi poses herself as the victim and gets sympathies from her muslim colleagues on chowk. She has no class.

I would beg to differ from you sir-
India should be quite happy to let Islamic Jehadi`s be busy with USA. India should not be sticking its neck out where it is not needed.
As soon as Iraqi oil is secured for USA, USA will forget about everyone else and India will againe be alone to fight its own war.
It is time that America should have realize that fight against terrorism is global one and other counteries also need safegaurds. USA must put leash on its own weapon manufacturers, military trainers and mercenaries. Let US fight its own fight. India`s cooperation with USA must be limited to information sharing and mutual extradition treaties.

India took the right decision and there is no reason to reconsider it unless the UN issues an appeal for peacekeeping troops. The US is fighting its battles for oil and influence in the Middle East, which have nothing to do with the Indians. It chose to go after the most India-friendly regime in the Arab/Muslim world. India has to fight its own battle agains terrorists and, at the risk of being rididculed, I think it should also address some root causes, such as the Hindu fanaticism which is alienating its largest minority.

stuka,
[...After all where does the government of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee think the Pakistan-based extremists might seek refuge if they are finally driven out by Gen. Musharraf? Arab lands, most likely. The US has driven a wedge into the centre of Muslim terrorism with its occupation of Iraq but it still is battling the remnants of Iraq’s former terrorist regime. Can India believe that it has no stake in this fight?...]
not a very convincing argument. the author is asking india to go to iraq and wait for the pakistan-based extremists to show up there under a hypothetical and most unlikely scenario of them being driven out by gen musharraf of all people. the govt of prez bush should rather help india in its fight against pakistan-based exremists by fighting them in pakistan before they have a chance to go to arab lands. if and when the duplicity in fighting the global war on terror is removed, the govt of abv could be asked to change its decision. i am reminded of richard armitage`s bewildering statement to the effect `we have tried... in pakistan and... we have failed`.

good point for Iindia to consider...from the Wall Street Journal:
``From the cross-border sanctuaries of Lashkar to the international ties of SIMI, this experience once again shows how the fight against terrorism is a global one. That’s a lesson that doesn’t yet seem to have fully hit home in India, judging from New Delhi’s recent rejection of a US request to send 15,000 troops to help restore order and combat terrorism in Iraq. Washington reportedly even offered to allow the Indians to serve under their own command, and decide which sector of Iraq they would be deployed in. But all to no avail.
Perhaps India will now reconsider its rejection. Arab lands, most likely. The US has driven a wedge into the centre of Muslim terrorism with its occupation of Iraq but it still is battling the remnants of Iraq’s former terrorist regime. Can India believe that it has no stake in this fight?
If there is one good thing that can come out of yesterday’s tragedy, we can hope for a realization by India that the only way to restore safety to the streets of Bombay is by India playing a fuller role in the global war against terror. —WSJ, Aug., 26``

``And many have commented on the ASI report before the court verdict; I am not an exception.``
If you are not different from others, why should you be taken more seriously than them? If claims that blasts are handiworks of ISI, Jehadists etc are rdicidulous, why should we not think same about your unsubstantiated claims of blast being an election gimmick.
On one hand you project yourself to be a citadel of conciousness, on other hand you claim ``I am not an exception``!!
`` As regards my adopting the kid, considering the opinion some of you have of me, why would you wish such a fate upon a poor innocent child? ``
Farzana bibi, is it supposed to be a tongue in cheek comment? Or are you trying to act cute. You have shown that you are not easily influenced by what other think of you. Why this sudden bashfullness? If you believe in your own ideas, go and adopt that child. Act of that death row inmae has done one good deed. At least someone (may be a muslim) will now come forward and finance upkeep of that child.
And Farzana, my opinion of ``your running to keyboard`` is not based on this single article. Go and check your article on movie ``Gadar``. You were crying foul that why rustic Sarday ji gifts a ``Golden Temple`` replica to muslim girl friend (and trying to convert her). And you did that without checking that poor sardar ji actually gifted riplica of Tajmahal. That speaks for your motives!!

`` Therefore, is it ‘preparing for elections’ time? Is this an answer to the no-confidence motion passed in Parliament? Is it some silly peeve against the proposed visit of The Israeli prime minister? Is it a dead man’s urn? ``
But alas.... Indians continue their efforts towards economic development in Bombay and elsewhere in the country.
Meanwhile, muslim apologists continue to silently support terrorists by putting out insane theories such as Indian conspiracy of bombing their own city buses and market places. Sure.... the whole world is aware of these conspiracies... isn`t it ? like the jewish conspiray of bombing their own pizzerias and city buses.... hindu conspiracy of bombing their own city buses and market places, etc....

Farzana:
``just one simple fact. I did not run to the keyboard immediately to start a rumour mill. This was written over 12 hours after the blasts, after I had done what most others did.``
Why are you even dignifying idiotic insinuations with clarifications? You wrote an article and people are free to comment on it. You don`t owe anyone an explanation, least of all to those who will suspect your integrity regardless of what you say.

Let the silly abuses be ignored...just one simple fact. I did not run to the keyboard immediately to start a rumour mill. This was written over 12 hours after the blasts, after I had done what most others did. Besides, most people in the media business write when the event is happening; not all are after a scoop. This was a story that made headlines, it was not whispered in my ear. And many have commented on the ASI report before the court verdict; I am not an exception. I have a take on the motivations, and I urge the reader to follow what is happening and come to their own conclusions. I have already said why I could not donate blood. As regards my adopting the kid, considering the opinion some of you have of me, why would you wish such a fate upon a poor innocent child?
dost-mittarji: you probaably wrote that before you saw my response. You may still differ. There is something called topicality. Remember the time you said you had dashed of a piece to Chowk on something important and went for a walk and returned to find it published? And you never were a journalist, yet you understood the merit of such promptness. I do and am glad that the Chowk editors have the capacity to know the value of timeliness.
Since this board will be gone soon, I hope people don`t forget such incidents while hopping mad at others` insensitivity.
