There is no doubt that you are expressing your feelings in your peom but i too agree with # 33 . It is no one but the woman who pillars the success of every man.

Way to go! Totally agree with # 33. You are limited by your mind, and nothing else. This is coming from a fellow Desi girl. I believe that we remain our ultimate enemies -- that we search far and wide for the enemy, and find it within us. If you believe it is possible, then you will see it to be possible. And impossible is nothing -- especially for a woman.

Dear Ms. Saroop Gul:
Being a Girl > Yeah You are a girl.
I cannot live > If it`s so how come there is almost 50% girls still alive after millions of years of human civilization?
I cannot give > Oh Girl Thy second name is to Give: as a mother/sister/wife and all.
I cannot see > U only show the path to see. ye make a baby walk first and talk first and see the future of the baby by u;`r tender eyes....
I cannot be free > You only show the path of being free..... A man is incomplete withoul a woman....
Being a Girl > Yeah...
I am not able > I don agree... You Can Transform the Nations...
I am not stable > Stablity is always given by women in the family not the men?
I am not bright > From thy brightness the world shining...
I have no right > NO one gonna give u but u have to snatch it now!!!!!
But being a Girl > yeah
I am a daughter > surely u r
I am a wife > yupp
Am I alive? > you decide now?
Regards`
Manoj

i under SGs feeling completely and she is so right. In my opinion women in our society are treated like daulay shah`s choohay which is inhuman simply.

Saroop Gul,
I understand you, your feelings. In very simple words you explained every thing. But believe, the world would be changed by the people.

Saroop ......Your short poem though simple and straight depicts immense hoplessness. In our patriarchal society where men are considered to be the De-Factos , women sometimes feel that they are allienated and unwanted. But certainly that is not the case. In a feudal society, women are undobtedly maltreated and denied basic rights. Women`s retalaition is plausible and justifiable in such a society. But I have seen women in an educated society where most of the people are rational, optmistic and easy-going are still demanding for MORE rights. Particularly for these women, I`ve got a few questions stirring my mind.
1. What sort of freedom are these pakistani women demanding ?
2. What are the objectives of this so called ``Freedom Struggle`` ? :S
3. Is the freedom struggle and demand of rights an excuse for westernization and promoting the American-Like Woman in our society?

you have managed to capture the true insecurities of the women of our society. bravo!

Dear All
A special thanx to all those who took time out to read my piece and a very special thanx to all those who posted their interacts, even if it was criticism, I appreciate you guys taking time out and sharing your thoughts.
As someone who has been writing for a long time, let me tell you that feedback ALWAYS helps, i know this wasnt the best of efforts and neither would everyone agree to this point of view.
Everyone has their individual expression and as a friend of mine says ``Writing in the gray comes to me naturally`` so this might seem TOO depressing, pessismistic, outdated to some but then one cant deny the fact that the situation depicted DOES exist, its not as if alls well everywhere. This piece was written at ONE such point in time.
It relates to not only my own personal experiences but also of my friends, family and even the people I read about in books and newspapers.
It was a humble effort and I am once again grateful to you all.

well zara
at the very moment i have started enjoying this dialogue...u want it to end!Not fair at all.
All Nustians are,by default, technical, just for ur information.Last time I heard abt em,they have not yet started a course in Fashion Design or Modelling.
Computing is a term normally used for numerical analysis-havent u seen that famous book which is available online for free´ Numerical Recipes in C: The Art of Scientific Computing. Cambridge University Press
well thts wht computing is..the marriage of CS and applied mathematics-but whtever u say abt that--i dnt mind....but u see,u ahve changed that to software engineering!!!watch out...u are taking my influence!!!!
and the last line of ur message is a bit catchy--´if yess...aaargh...i donno what then....´
if u really wanna know the answer(which i dnt think is the case),u can drop me a line at waseem@rbg.informatik.tu-darmstadt.de
and i never get tired of talking to nice people-but u wont see much of me after 22nd...u can count on me for that.
thats all for today....thanx for ur appreciation.I know I did good.

hello zara
(to the rest of u--we two are in a full blown argument..and it has got nothing to do with the poem by saroop ).
so here u are-proving my point..the point we started with....if running a house was the aim and purpose of life...why waste a seat,an oppertunity for someone to study who needs that...why waste nations resources--off course then...u are free to study home economics....
and this writing of urs is very much negating the point saroop discussed in her poem..just read the last few lines...I am a wife
am I alive!!! started with criticising her...and u started with supporting her....and here we are..u want a gal to be a wife..just a wife....ok...u are a gal..its ur choice....but dnt cry abt it.Thats what i started with!!!
and as far is i am concerned...yess i wud allow...rather allow is an inappropriate word for a relationship of equality...so...i wont mind my wife working 9-5....and i wont expect her to do household chores once whe gets back...for ...for the past 8 years-i have bin living away from home
and for the past one year,i have bin cooking for myself
so if i need someone to cook food for me,i would have a cook.not a wife-i dnt believe in that ´legal lifelong prostitution´-
and as far as my rights from islam--parent´s duties from islam-and a ladys obligations from islam--i wud say..it all sucks.tht self contradicting doctrine sucks.....
and tell u one thing, from the very start of this discussion ,u have been kinda careless...just writing for the sake of writing--without much substance and logic
if u just get back to my first message,u wud find out something i sed their abt islam...and womens rights
and gods injustice
i am not gonna repeat that here, for i fear to burn my dinner
i am sitting with my apron on!!!
and btw, where do u study computing--is it a kool word for computer science or u study computational engineering-as far as i know, their is no place in pakistan wher one cud study computing-
ciao

okies....if they get married its never always fer their ownselves....their parents can neva wait n let them establish a career n then get them married.....n parents at the right side in doing so cuz marrying your kids asap is a concept of islam.....n then it comes to the husband.....So will u let ure wife work 9-5 in an office?.....so dat wen she comes bac home she is tired enuff to take some rest instead of accompanying u-who comes bac after a same long day n needs attention-...dont hesitate to say ``No`` cuz again thats ure right from islam that ure wife looks after ure home....and dats hard fer the lady to cope with 2 full time jobs.....jus give a thought....after office if u expect her start up with house work innit too much...so its logical if they give up on careers for the family management thingy which they hav to do as a concept of Islam again....family comes prior to a lady...well enuff a comment to go against the economic loss u talk abt....sooo?

a critical analysis of my comments...is it?...i mean it is...neways all things aside...i wud jus argue against the second argument of ures...i hope u kno n agree with that phrase``achay buray log har jagah hotay hain``...keep dat in mind always...but in general if v talk abt a girl who gets in to a professional institute...u r wrong to say that this girl intends of hunting a husband..``IMPOSSIBLE!!..logically``...a girl who thinks of hubby hunt can definitely never give much attention to her studies n come out competitive enuff to reserve a seat in some professional college...Girls getting in there are at all times the studious type...who never even consider there class mates(boys) worth it...thats observation!!...trust me dat wen a girl dreams fantasy(a kewl handsome husband etc.)...she wudn b left with much time for study kinda things...priorities will change...so u`ve been misguided by ure brain to think that ure girl class fellows hav any cruel intentions as u portrayed...hope this convinces...
