It will be utter stupidity of Iranians not to develope their nuclear weapons at this time. Their future generations will regret having not done so now. Same thing goes for Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iraq, Egypt, and various other countries. But for them the window of opportunity has closed for good.

Must agree with Urstruly, post #1, on this one.
Also, the author wrote:
``Needless to say, anti-American feelings are already deeply rooted in Iranian society and could rise to a boiling point.``
I think this statement is not accurate. Anti-regime sentiment seems to dominate in Iran today, across all sections of society. It`s foolish, though, to think that this would translate into pro-US sentiment to the extent that the average Iranian would welcome a US invasion...they may not care for the corrupt oligarchy ruling the country, however they are ferociously nationalistic. Any US action against Iran proper, including attacks against the popular nuclear program, would no doubt give the regime a new lease on life.
Iranians, regardless of their political leanings, want WMDs. I don`t blame them.

A good analysis indeed.
The extended IAEA regulation is not adopted by any country so far. It calls for inspection of all the facilities by IAEA even military facilities. It is definately a provocative move by IAEA to expect Iran to sign and ratify the extended IAEA regulation.
So Iran is not going to comply period. USA can bomb the nuclear facilities in a ``shock and awe`` style bombing raid and thats the end of it. This seems like a good containment policy.

The sooner Iran gets the nuclear bomb the better for it.

Re arjun_m:
``AFAIK, the US media was very critical of Israel when it bombed iraq.``
Quite right...it was indeed. Keep in mind that Saddam was a ``good`` guy back then. Anyhow, with Iran, the situation is quite different. Media seems to be hawkish...

Nuclear bombs? We should have MORE of them! LOTS AND LOTS OF BOMBS!! I want two on my kitchen table-one for salt ;) , the other for pepper. People who dont want bombs, or think that everyone should have them are anti American, whining people and that is that. I`m going to use little bombs in my hair as clips and keep my updo in place as I walk around my young republican meeting taking a poll on if we should bomb Iran. As if I have to ask....

............ everyone should have a bomb in the arsenal to protect that chicken in the pot ......... some people have bombs even when they don`t have a chicken (or bhaji)........
...............i don`t know about anyone else, but i threw one hell of a ``bomb`` party when pakistan let off that big firecracker .............. for four or five days i was petrified, terrified and quite upset at the atomic energy people who i thought had run off with all the money like their brothers in wapda and pwd ........... it was a relief to know that now we can blow up a couple of million horrible hindoos if they ever try to turn us into vegetarians or if we are having a bad day ...........
............ once everyone has the bomb, then what?
