Dear jb,

You said:

`We can atleast raise our voices and if we have then it isnt working,we need to SHOUT.`

What do you think you are able to achieve within your capacity? Do you have any ideas? If you want, please `speak` to me on the `dump` topic on the family health board on the uplugged section of Chowk.

Thank you.

Umer M.

thankyou for appreciating.

`` May I ask what motivated you to write this?``
a few months back a college girl was raped, no one payed any attention to it.people talked about it for a few days then all was forgotten.I didnt want to be one of them- a silent spectator.

we read about rapes almost daily and most of us do nothing about it.We cannot undo what has been done but do we really think for a moment what the victims go through?Their whole lives are destroyed yet nothing is done about it.We can atleast raise our voices and if we have then it isnt working,we need to SHOUT.
keeping quiet means we agree with what is happening around us.

Dear JB,

Thanks for posting this. I think this was just perfect in terms of its size and the degree of insecurity it leaves the reader with. May I ask what motivated you to write this?

--Who would want her body to be violated like that? The only thought that came in her mind was that perhaps they were weaker than the girls that were raped, they could not face the society and stand up and defend the truth, the easier way was either to keep quite and turn to some place where no one could say anything to them or finish off the life of that miserable carcass and then be called respectable because they ended a tainted life.--

this was very well expressed. and i think this could be applied to hudood, or honour killing without actually mentioning the two, because the last sentence of the aforementioned paragraph encapsulates both of those. i think the pain that comes with being raped is expressed very well in this.

the judge asked the raped girl why did u opened ur legs when u were being raped,as it is impossible for the rapist to commit the adultery if the girl doesnt consent. Thegirl replied honourable judge i couldnt resist the temptation.

Thanks for all the criticism, without it thoughts become stagnant, atleast that is what I think.
personally, I didn`t think it would be published, because it`s my first try and I think it`s full of errors.

I did want it to end like that because she is uncertain of what the future holds,``she closed her eyes and awaited her fate.`` that is why it is called BLANK FATE.

JB:

welcome!...

sensitively captured...delicately stated...more for what was not said...

... the dilemma of the person is in a manner the dilemma of the nation which has been continuously raped since inception...perhaps very strong words...forgive me for bringing it up...

When hudood was enacted 23 years ago, the laws were formally described as measures to ban ``all forms of adultery, whether the offense is committed with or without the consent of the parties.`` But it is almost always the women who are punished, whatever the facts.

Human rights groups say abuse of women is endemic in Pakistan. Often, they are locked inside their homes where they are subjected to beatings, acid attacks, burning and rape. Every year there are hundreds of ``honor killings,`` in which a woman is murdered for perceived breaches of modesty.

Rape itself is a crime under hudood, but it is so difficult to prove that men are rarely convicted. On the other hand, human rights workers say, as many as half the women who report a rape are charged under zina laws with adultery.

God help all those who are in need & His blessings be upon us forever.

Welcome JB,

this is really superb writing. One of the best to appear on CHOWK in a

while. The topic is extremely sad but the bitter truth is in the reaction of others.

Perhaps your theme and ideas are far more than you could express.

And in a mad fit of religiousness and false pride, he brings out the rifle and blows to a splatter the brains of his mother, sister, wife.

It is not only rape victims that see this fate but also those who are suspected to have been `exploited`. Upon being suspected of ``illicit`` conduct, I have seen girls as young as 9 being locked up, refused any food or water and eventually being driven to a slow, torturous death.

Fathers/brothers/husbands/sons who profess with pride their tall claims to provide their women with complete protection...
