Muslim malaysia,

It is pathetic to see the pakistanis claiming malaysia as a great islamic success story. The achievement of mahatir is not making it an isalmic country, it is a multi racial country and he is the one to boast about it. Take the case of pakistan, in the pakistan of today there weere nearly 15 percent non-muslims and now it is leass than three. Pakiatan has put sharia at the highest with blasphemy laws and hoodod at the operational level and that is why pakistan is an islamic country and malaysia is not.

There is no way in the world pakistan can ever follow the model of any multi racial country simply because the hatred is embeddedinto the pak psyche. Other than hamidm no one on chowk has dared to say a few words about abdus salam. The tahmeds find the very mention of abdus salam so repulsive and even the chowk editors at least in the last 4 years never published an article about abdus salam.

A nation where even the educayed cannot show regard for a fellow pakistani because he is a non muslim, is the real islamic country. Every pakistani has to be proud of this singular achievent creating the land of the pure as envisioned by the father of TNT.

ACCORDING TO TWO NATION THEORY
MALAYSIA FIRST SHOULD BE DIVIDED INTO MUSLIM MAJORITY STATE AND A SECULAR
STATEFOR CHINESE AND INDIANS
AND IF YOU DON’T AGREE THEN PAKISTAN HAS NO RIGHT TO EXIST

{You have to respect what he has achieved in Malaysia.}

...mahathir has done as much for malaysia`s economy as al gore did for the invention of the internet...

...mahathir and his fatass lazy malay population have sat on their behinds while the ethnic chinese population has built that country....now the muslim malay population is leeching off their hard work...simple as that....

[re. nakhok`s various,
Incidentally, aren`t you confusing the (occidental) Sephardics with the Ashkenazi?]

The Ashkenazi are the Jews of Russia, Eastern Europe and Mittel Europa.

The Sephardic are the Jews of Spain/Portugal and the Arab countries.

[Mahathir himself is of indian extraction but has somehow managed to pass himself off as a bumiputra (thanks to his religion).]

I believe Mahathir`s mother is Malay and father an Indian.

[The mullahs in malaysia are gaining ground and one sees lots of women wearing hijabs (compared to some years ago).]

When the government feels the need to erect mosques in all the state capitals at government expense, are you surprised that the mullahs are gaining ground? To think that about 5 years ago, Malaysia banned polygamy for Hindus! I am not sure they banned polygamy for Muslims.

The PAS party has gained ground in the poorer northern states and they even attempted to enact legislation imposing a fine for not wearing the hijab.

[...and once the first chinese lands on the moon, then what? will he open up a chinese restaurant on the moon? or play ``east is red`` for the moonlings?]

No, on all counts. Official Chinese maps will show the Moon to be part of China. just like they have claimed Tibet to be Chinese or Mongolia, ignoring that Mongols ruled China under Genghis Khan and Tibet once took the war to Beijng`s doorsteps and won.

I agree with you 100%.

If Malaysia had a 30% Zulu minority instead of Chinese I really wonder if Malaysia would be as prosperous as it is. Everything considered I will give credit to Mahathir. He inherited a tense inter-racial situation and he has kept the peace using practical measures. He has followed prudent economic policies. The 64 million dollar question is whether his legacy will survive his rule. There is always a remote possibility of a Yugoslavia in Malaysia.

`` Only a tiny portion of Muhathir’s speech was about Jews. He is too seasoned and far too successful and experienced a politician to have made those remarks, off the cuff. He must have had some reason behind it. Some of those are factual, and some are racist. But, if someone is going to condemn them, then they need to apply the same criteria to anti-Muslim remarks in the Western media, as they apply to anti-Semitic remarks. US talk shows have many anti-Muslim generalizations. If they were to replace the word, “Muslim” with, “Jew,” and make similar generalizations about Jews, the talk-show hosts would be fired. ``

Let us assume for a moment we do not know who owns what in this world. Maybe Jews control the world. Certainly a lot of fellow OIC states control a lot of the oil wealth. I have not seen a word of criticism by Mahathir or the Pakistani government/media about the rulers of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, Qatar and Oman. Sorry it is bigotry pure and simple.

warpster #65 quite correct, although mahathir (despite his odious personality) does get credit for not standing in the way of foreign investors on the one hand and chinese entrepreneurs within malaysia on the other. another thing that mahatir lovers (in whose eyes anyone who thumbs his nose at the west can do no wrong) forget is his suppression of the opposition (whose leader was hounded and jailed on charges of having a homosexual affair).

While i have never been outside the airport in malaysia and so cant say much beyond what i have heard or read, i am familiar with indonesia - and there is no question that chinese indonesians (who try to mingle with the population by adopting local names) have been the unsung heroes of progress in that country as well.

Everyone seems to have missed a huge point.

The chinese in malaysia (35%) are primarily responsible for the successes of the malaysian economy. The ethnic malays (bumiputras) who are also muslim by and large monopolize all the cushy jobs and political offices by virtue of their majority. The status of indians (7%) is pathetic in that country. Discrimination against minorities is legislated in malaysia in the name of affirmative action for the majority. Somehow the chinese swallow all this and focus their energies on business. Malaysia also has large oil and forest reserves; combined with a small population they have to be complete idiots not to be doing as well as they are. The difference between indonesia and malaysia is mostly the lack of a substantial chinese minority in indonesia (the ones who are they control a lot of businesses but are also blatantly discriminated against)

Mahathir himself is of indian extraction but has somehow managed to pass himself off as a bumiputra (thanks to his religion). The mullahs in malaysia are gaining ground and one sees lots of women wearing hijabs (compared to some years ago).

Chinese majority singapore split with malaysia in 1965 and has managed to do better without any natural resources at all in a very small space (a small city).

Comparing what talk-show hosts say in the US with what heads of state say in some of these countries says something - the heads of state of these countries should actually have been talk-show hosts.

Mahathir has been among the few success stories in the `muslim world.` For that reason we can cut him some slack. On the other hand, his position of prominence puts him under spotlight. One doesn`t expect him to behave like Gerraldo.

... while we are on the subject of “kicking people out”, here is a Maudoodi on dealing with non-practicing Muslims. I am hoping our internet mullah Urstruly will enlighten us … and then we can nominate Maudoodi for nobel peace prize … which may bring the total for the Muslim world to 6 … with Naqshbandi as a possible 7th, for writing erotic poetry while fooling Muslims into believing that he was actually composing a na’at. Back to Maudoodi …

“Whenever an Islamic revolution takes place, all non-practicing Muslims should, within one year, declare their turning away from Islam and get out of Muslim society. After one year all born Muslims will be considered Muslims. All Islamic laws will be enforced upon them. They will be forced to practice all of the obligatory duties (faraid) and optional duties (wajibat) of their religion and if anyone wishes to leave Islam, he will be executed. Every effort will be made to save as many people as possible from falling into lap of disbelief (kufr). But those who cannot be saved will be reluctantly separated from society forever.”
(Maudoodi, “Punishment for Apostates in Islamic Law”).

... And Urstruly is unhappy that jews are kicing out muslims ...

I am sorry to see Mahathir put his foot in his mouth like this. You have to respect what he has achieved in Malaysia. A multi-ethnic society where muslims, chinese, hindus and buddhists live in relative peace. If I recall correctly, 1960`s malaysia had the most ugly forms of violence and rioting between these communities.

Mantolives #51 The demonization of israelis and jews in Pakistan by the mullah brigade is certainly a disgraceful thing. While you are right in saying that Israel was formed through a process that included UN recognition of Israel as a sovereign state, this does not change the fact that the creation of a nation-state is ultimately a political, not a legal, process.

For example, what would have happened if the Brits had lost WWI to Germany and Turkey? The Ottoman Empire would still be around, and there is no reason to believe that the Ottoman`s would have unilaterally freed the large swaths of the middle east and north africa that they had ruled over for hundreds of years. There would then have been no jordan, no israel, no iraq or syria, and thus no middle east problem. The closest thing to legality is jewish ownership of land in israel, since under the Ottomans they had (as I mentioned below) purchased about 6 percent of what is now Israel fair and square from palestinian landowners under the Ottomans. The rest is based on politics (with 1948 and 1967 being extreme forms of politics - war) where arab overconfidence and incredible incompetence (as a pakistani general who visited jordan just before 1967 saw first hand) proved their undoing (even though they were the ones who forced both conflicts).

These are inconvenient facts that the urstruly`s in Pakistan chose to ignore.
