Good reminder. But no need to be despondent. If chowk is any guide, there are many well-educated, liberal, articulate and progressive women in and from Pakistan.
...btw, I know a daughter of Begum Ikramullah who lives in Ottawa. She is a very modest person, an artist and one of the few Pakistani women who still prefers sari over salwar kameez. She wanted her daughter to learn about desi culture and sent her to a private school at Aligarh for her high school.

Today`s females (as well as males) should draw inspiration from these women.
