Good piece of writing and good choice for a topic. I suppose, men has been erecting fences of one kind or another since the arrival of neolithic age. They are not going to go away anytime soon, since pressure on the ecosystem by men is on the rise. Number of mouths to feed and energy needs are still climbing and continue to climb for the forseeable future barring catastrophic events, which are more likely to happen when ecosystem strains beyond adjustment and tries to maintain equilibrium. It will adjust itself in undesired manner for human beings. The survival of the fittest in this paradigm might not be per capita income and developed societies but some kind of immunity from epidemics.

If we have such strong beliefs and religious foundations, why even get a wall. Why can we not face the world and still hold onto our values and our religious pieties. I think the problem lies in the fact that our version of islam, The mullah and the Liberal version is so faraway from the purity of Islam that we cannot withstand any outside inference. Maybe its time to introspect our cultural adaptations of Islam rather than build wall to protect from Dajjal/taghoot/satan.

I am not going attribute any of the charming words that you have used to describe my knowledge. However I will refute your remarks, If you feel that Suicide Bombers are people who are just mental cases willing to die for whatever cause that comes knocking at their door, I have to say that you do not know much about the world. Suicide Bombers are born out of a terrible feeling of despair and helplessness, in palestine where they are facing an enemy armed to the teeth by the so called professors of democracy and all they have at their disposal to counter such an enemy is either the stones that lie around them or their own selves. Kamakazee Pilots from japan died for the emperor, Palestinian die to remind the israelis of their existence, Iraqis bombing American and Coalition targets are just a sign of their helplessness and the realisation that they will make more of a impact in death than in life.

No loss of life, Israeli, Palestinian, Afghani, American or anyone is right. But as human beings we have been to worried, concerned and focused about the result and have continuosly ignored the causes. If Palestine is given nationhood and they are allowed to exist in a post 1967 borders state, the palestinians too would prefer living to death.

The berlin wall collapsed due to the collapse of communism, and the end of an era when commies were the enemies of prosperity, where they had a didderent system of dealing with people, a different world view.

The fences in kashmir, the fence along pak afghan border, the wall in palestine is the harbinger of a new conflict, affectionately called fight against terror. What this is essentially a cinflict between two world views, a world view of life now and nothing theer after, and another one of eternal heaven for the shaheed. You have to realise that the walls are coming up at the jihadic frontiers. Afghanistan has been liberated, irq is on the way. There are walls coming up in afghan pak border, fences will come up on the iraq boirders. Fences are coming up in bangladesh and indo pak borders. This is a new world and it will take a very long time for these to come down, only when the world view of 700 Ad is destroyed.

Most people seem to think that personal loss (of a loved one) would drive one to become a suicide bomber. That is certainly an obvious and impulsive line of thought. But is it proved by numbers????

Does anyone have any statstics on this?

Are AT LEAST a half (or even a quarter) of the suicide bombers doing it because they want revenge for the murder of a loved one?

In both ` Mullah and Liberal` versions of Islam, Quran is same and there ALLAH asks both `Mullah and Liberal` type of Muslims to seek ALLAH`s protection from Satan. Don`t feel ashame of yourself being a Muslim and face the world without cursing Mullah so they may accept you as Liberal. There is no concept of Mullah in Islam. The Mullah came in because we did not learn basic Islamic teachings and even for our Nikah and Burial, we depend on Mullah. Can`t an Engineer and Doctor lead Namaz e Janaza? The Mullah bashing is not liberalism. The knowledge and self-respect will make you Liberal. Mullah`s bashing of you liberals doesn`t make him any more pious and your cursing of Mullah doesn`t make you Modern and Liberal. Learn Islam first hand and face the world with Dignity and build a wall around the strong foundations of your House of Islam so Mullah does not enter and your Modernism and Liberalism stay intact.
