So what has changed folks!! Another group of pakistanis, another meeting, another waste of opportunity to set priorities right. Another waste of collective brain-waves which could have been used to do something constructive for a change.
To put matters in perspective - do a simple search on this article for the word ``kashmir``. You would get 5 references. Then search for the word ``economy`` - you would get .... none, nada, nothing - not a single reference. Neither would you get any response for words ``investment`` or ``FDI``.
To give you an example of how irrelevant this little meeting was, see the following line - ``.....He spoke of the involvement of the United Nations in two important conflicts. ....U.N. Resolution ...247 on Kashmir and their significance in history.``
So which pakistani student ( or child or adult ) does not know about this UN resolution that the learned professor has to elaborate on its ``significance in history``???

[``Pakistan was not pressured but took the decision in its own interest ``].
Excuse me !!! The Paki dictator was ordered to do so otherwise he would have been found like a rat in the hole in Peshawar just like Saddam Hussain was found. Siddiqui saheb a little honesty and little objectivity to the article will be appreciated. Root cause of terrorisn is Pakistan itself. World community needs to address that.

Frontline state in terror war is right. Indians like Rupin Katyal`s wife can attest to that.

Did any body see the report on CNN, about Libya`s Kadafi`s attempt to join the civilized world, by renouncung the WMDs. He has laid bare all is paraphernelia used for nuclear and biological weapons. The interesting part was the certrifuges, and there was speculation of their origin. The country most suspected was Pakistan.
Even if this proves to be wrong, the glaring thing is the difference in the assessment of Pakistani`s about themselves as the article shows and the world view. One thing that is common among the present dictator and the previous Pakistani rulers is their thinking that they can hoodwink the world.

re: this article
``Pakistan on the frontline of terrorism`` may be a more apt title. It is true that Mushy and Co have helped US in its fight against Al Qaida. This fight has, however, been a reluctant one and a desperate act of self-preservation by Mushy. As the attempt on his life testifies, there are elements in Pak not happy with him. Pak is not in the frontline of anti-terrorism. Mushy pretends that he is. The world knows the truth but tolerates him for want of a better alternative. One can only imagine what will be Pak`s fate if Mushy does fall prey to an assasin and the country is taken over by a fundamentalist-leaning military dictator.
Pakis may educate themselves by reading the following Urls:

http://www.washingtontimes.com/commentary/20031201-082833-4319r.htm
http://www.cato.org/dailys/10-19-03.html
Excerpts from the last url:
``Indeed, Pakistan, under President Pervez Musharraf -- the general who, in a coup, overthrew a democratically elected government -- and whose military and security services had served before 9/11 as the leading backer of the Taliban, seems to be undermining stability in neighboring Afghanistan. Pakistan also is reportedly harboring Islamic militants, fighting Indian forces in Kashmir and elsewhere, and playing an active role in the proliferation of nuclear weapons, which it has already developed -- unlike Iraq or Iran, the latter another member of the infamous Axis of Evil.
Several respectable news outlets, including Newsweek, have reported that members of a resurgent Taliban, enjoying the support of Pashtun tribes as well as sympathetic Pakistani military officers led by the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), are using Pakistan as a base for strikes against the U.S.-backed government in Kabul. In fact, some intelligence experts suspect that Osama bin Ladin and other al Qaeda and Taliban leaders may have found sanctuaries in the so-called Federally Administered Tribal Areas in Pakistan.
At the same time, some members of the Pakistani security forces continue to provide assistance Islamic militant fighting against India`s rule in Kahsmir. Indeed, U.S. officials admit that Musharraf has failed to crack down on those who support the fighters in Kashmir, who threaten to ignite war -- possibly one that could turn nuclear -- between Pakistan and India. ``
Australia says Pak is the source of terrorism:
http://us.rediff.com/news/2003/aug/28aus1.htm
And finally, Pak`s ``Mai`baap`` US itself is now saying that Pak is sponsoring terrorism:
http://www.indiaexpress.com/news/world/20010501-4.html
``The US State Department`s annual report on ``Global Patterns of terrorism`` acknowledges the role of LeT in attacks on civilians in Kashmir but merely places it on list of ``other terrorist organizations`` along with Jaish-e-Mohammad......
Vindicating India`s stand on cross border terrorism, the report said the Pakistani military government headed by General Pervez Musharraf continued previous government`s support to Kashmir insurgency. Kashmiri militant groups continued to raise funds and recruit new cadres in Pakistan and several of these groups were responsible for attacks against civilians in Jammu and Kashmir, it said. ``
It used to be said in the old times that ``all roads lead to Rome``. In modern times, a more apt saying would be ``All terrorist trails lead to Islamabad``.

Khami #8,
You got it all wrong buddy. You bring name ``India`` and our Kashmir in any forum and that is what the avalanches of responses you will get from all Indians. If you talk about Quran, Taleban, Hodood, Blasphemy, Brotherly countries etc and no Indian will give two hoots about it.

Ambassador Jamadani, could you please explain why Pakistan is the leading nuclear arms proliferator in the world? Could you please explain how that fits with being a moderate and responsible nation? Or does that just fit with being irresponsible and dangerous country that desperately needs to be iraqized?

Your goose is cooked my friend. YOu can try all you like to spin out your silly lies (and yes, the angana chatterjees will definitely ``help`` you) but the truth about Pakistan and dictator Musharraf is widely known now. I think most people in the USA who have heard of Pakistan have a pretty clear idea what it stands for.
Add to that 100,000+ millionaires of indian origin who are now US citizens and things become even worse. Add to that growing trade and investment in India and party is over for your jihadistan.
Good luck with your ``just`` cause(s) that somehow always involve the murder of indians, envy of americans and, most bizarre, hatred of jews. If I were you I would start learning one of tamil, telugu, kannada or chinese. Because that is what your destiny is going to be..

War on terror,
It is so tragic to see the educated pakistanis teeling that it is a front line state on war on terror. Wait a minute, who created taliban in the first place. How about the taliban production lines, the madrassas, they are still there. How about the students at these, from indinesia to australia. Now only they are being rounded up. The basic jihadic activity continues, with repeated banning of the organisations.

Banning terror,
A good example of pak fight against terror is the banning of organisations. laskers were banned, they ca,me back, jaish mohammed were banned they came back.
The process appear to be when an organisation is banned, they remove the name board from the office and put up another one. What is needed is banning of terror traioning which pakistan cannot do simply because it is a jihadic activity.
Pakistan bans organisations in the name of fight against terror, not the activty itself. The tragic fact is that the fools in delhi beleves that these are good actions.

Interesting article.
Ras,
This kind of pedogogical approach is a nice innovation. Who came up with this idea and through which dept. was this course taught?
What kinds of ideas or goals regarding this course emerged for the students?
