I had no idea that this had been published on chowk...no e-mail....found it by chance. so im sorry i wasnt able to address the concerns raised in the interacts before.

temporal: salima hashmi is certainly interview-worthy. This piece was written specifically for the relationship section of the TFT and they wanted only the father and daughter. this article ensued.

irfanhamid: how many do i know...enough to make the generalisations that i have..not enough to believe that all mathematicians are in fact catatonic.

and i want to know one more thing - you think me arrogant because i made a generalisation of this nature. what does that make you?

urstruly/princess: thank you

rozaiba: good to see you here. and Buffy is good entertainment. i will defend my stance :).

Khadija:

Refreshing reading. It shows how the two individuals reflect the trends in the Pakistani film scene and are a beacon of light in an otherwise dull atmosphere. though cheesy, Faiz`s words come to mind: `Qatl gahoun say chun kar hamaray alm, aur niklain gay ushaaq kay qaflay!`

IQRA University has also begun a program in film production- in response to the 18 or so private TV channel licenses issues thus far. These are all good indications for the future.

ps) Buffy the Vampire Slayer?? Please!

Khadija: masha-Allah, you write very well. Will agree with Irfan, though. Avoid generalisations/popular stereotypes. Have known some incredibly sublime mathematicians, some plain raunchy ones and one, at least, who was both. Have you read about Richard Feynman?

Khadija:

``Somehow, mathematicians appear to be a breed of people very different from this jaunty humorist. They lack not just a sense of humor, but entire personalities.``

How many do you know?

``The thought of the mathematician conveys images of catatonic professors overseeing catatonic students caught in a stuporific obsession with solving equations and learning the logics that establish long-known conclusions.``

It`s true, ignorance IS bliss, or in this case, arrogance.

Regards,
Irfan Hamid.

K:

...this is certainly better and more comprehensive than the other version in the rag;)

...Mira appears to have taken after her grandpa...Faiz was a very soft spoken person...

...just wondering...was her mother not worthy to be interviewd?

lve,

t
