Another thing I`d want to mention: The course titled `Marxism` has been banned or euphemitstically speaking has been removed from the syllabus, whereas the critiques on Marxism are still being taught with immense zeal. Absurd enough, and even analogous to banning `satanic verses` and making available books that criticize it?

skepto:

...there is something more disturbing...if gowns are used as a target practicing tool...so the gun toting marauders can distinguish between students and faculty...

...seems like the fata and other frontier areas the federal (or local or provincial) government laws re: gun control does not extend to the campus...

...so go ahead...kill another student...another human being...in the name of some dead holy man or living pir...

lve,

t

ps: did you read the piece rubina did a few days back?...it is on the baithak.

I used to meet her in the business admin building.....to her I was the son of a mango juice processing tycoon and to me she was the daughter of cloth mill owner. Afetr our rendevousz, I used to take university point to my hostel paying 30 paisas as fair and she used to take G-3 to Bhains Colony paying Rs. 1.50.

But life was good then.

ummm ... i was under the impression that gowns were introduced in khi uni to give the place a ``scholarly`` feel ... like `back-in-the-day` during the islamic renaissance ... i`m pretty certain it wasn`t to differentiate students from teachers ...

Well, KU has always been a place full of filth and political garbage. I am glad that somebody other than me has realized it. I am so glad to be out of that mess. As long as Jamat-e-Islami exists these kinds of stupid decisions would be taken every day. And yeah Pirzada Qasim is a very nice man. I personally know his whole family. But he doesn`t have the resolve to reverse the decision. And I personally don`t think this decision will make anything change especially girls in Burqas having sex with boys who get in the burqa so nobody can see them inside the girls bathroom in the deprtment of Islamic Studies. So I don`t think it is something to be really pissed about. After all it is Pakistan we are talking about. You didn`t think going to KU would be like going to a univeristy in America did you?

This was a nice read.

I would like to know more about this Hashmi cult and the fanatic chicks.

And is this THE Peerzada Qasim the poet that is the new VC?

qurat ul ain,
hello,
`karachi university is an amusing place to be`. ah yes. sometimes its wiser to detach urself and look at it from another angle .
im studying at ku too. i was`nt amazed at this decision of the admin. because i dont expect any better (tho i hope for it).
its three months now and black gowns have almost disappeared from the campus. (im not even sure if u are going to be reading my post since the last one was posted months back, but i dont know how else to interact )
and months now since the appointment of the new VC.
so has the rule been changed or are they too tired of making sure its implemented?
dont u think there should be a platform or some sort where students of the univ. can discuss issues concerning them all and work together for solutions/their rights> in other words, student organizations? the current political parties that are so active have really messed up the environment. but then besides those groups, and besides those who aretoo passive and not bothered about anything, there are those who would want to contribute to the effort of making a change- it just bothers to be nkowing and complaining and yet doing nothing about it.
sorry if i sound naive. i dream. but i do mean to ask u what i have. would like to know what u think.
