Tahmed #264,
I am truly at a loss trying to figure out how to debate with you. As has been
mentioned copious times in this thread, India`s actions in May 1998 were not
entirely Pakistan specific - there were a number of other political imperatives
that made the Indian govt do what they did. I may personally disagree with
some of their reasons, but they are there and play an important role in
defining India`s defence and foreign policy objectives.
You seem insistent on ignoring all of these arguments and keep pursuing this
one-point agenda of India losing it`s conventional superiority over Pakistan as
the only fallout of the tests. As for Iyangar`s article, it is just an incredibly shoddy
piece of analysis - if it situates well in your preconceived biases, so be it. Both
India and Pakistan have much better political commentators, and he is not an
indicator of South Asian anything, much less wisdom and knowledge.
I never implied that you called Alephnull anything. That was directed towards
someone else - I thought that was clear.

plats #263 : if you think that India`s nuclear program was a sign of wisdom then, as I have been sayhing, with enemies like you Pakistan does not need friends. Since it is this ``wisdom`` in Delhi that neutralized India`s clear ability to overrun Pakistan in a conventional war. Thank you, all you wise people of Delhi. May God give all of Pakistan`s enemies similar wisdom as yours.
Amen.
BTW: I did not use the word ``anal`` for AlephNull, so dont address me as if I used that word.

Bongdongs #253,
I cannot believe this article is for real. It belongs right up there in the
``wet-dreams masquerading as intelligent thought`` category published in
paknews.com and equivalent sites. No offense to Pakistanis in general-
we have similar sites on this side as well. I did expect more from SAtribune,
though.
Tahmed32 #254,
``It is this tradition of wisdom and knowledge that is the true strength of
India, and what gives one hope for the future of south asia``
If this is representative of our tradition of wisdom, knowledge and
coherent thought, I relinquish my Indian citizenship herewith. This is, in
all seriousness, the stuff of tabloids.
Tahmed and hossp,
I would suggest that you not dismiss Alephnull`s analysis of the political
imperatives in May 1998. He is being very accurate in his estimates here.
Hossp, would you please clarify which part of Alephnull`s post is a figment
of his imagination ? I really would like to know. Personally, I find his posts
to be very informative - wasn`t even aware that deconstructing an argument in
rigorous detail is the same thing as being anal.
And no, I have no idea what mind chunking is. Isn`t that rather irrelevant to
the central issue here ?

I had to go back and read your other posts. You understand. Such guys here are not worth your inter-acts.
What most Indians might find hard to believe is that the anglo-accented-Pakis just can`t read and understand the english language. Most of such kind grew up in boot-polish colonies (the spit & shines) aka fauji-quarters (cantonements) . On top of that they learnt the language in english-medium schools where the emphasis was on form and not on content. The purpose was to produce drone-workers to carry out uncle Bull`s and Sam`s orders.
Thinking and analysing was strictly a no-no. That is why they were `protected` from the `masses`--who could corrupt them. It gives these guys goosebumps to be placed in a situation where they are expected to exhibit their IQs in non-english accent and dress-up.
They suddenly feel `native` and naked. All IQ evaporates in a flash. The lowliest from a Taat-Ka-school flattens them in a second.

Aleph, I dont think its impossible that the chap is Indian. Maybe he`s like a disgruntled employee or something. But you are right it will be carefully archived and regurgitated as the distilled truth.

That was a hilarious article from Mr ‘Iyangar’, which may be an assumed and fictitious name. Mr. ‘Iyangar’ tears into an Iyer (the very distinguished K Subrahmanyam) in his second paragraph; poor APJ Abdul Kalam comes in for even harsher treatment, as does Raja Ramanna.
There is a tell-tale sprinkling of factual errors through the article. Also telling is the reference to ‘South Asia’ and the ‘liberation movement in Indian-held Kashmir’. The crowning glory is the recommendation in the last paragraph that the political map of ‘South Asia’ be redrawn into manageable, governable and viable entities – the archetypical wet-dream of the Pakistani elite. The tone verges on the hysterical; the language is slightly Urdu-accented, like hossp’s posts. Perhaps the last is just the handiwork of the SAT editorial staff and not of the putative original author. Pakistanis can be expected to lap it up with delight as the thrice-distilled essence of truth.

hossp..you calling AlephNull anal is definately useless as it contributes nothing.
Besides, whats so wrong with being anal? Is it not
Besides, Anal is a name from Mahabharat, and not an insult. I have met one guy with a name Anal Dikshit.

bongdongs #253 Thanks for the article, and indeed I am in total agreement with what Mr. Iyangar writes. It is indeed refreshing (after the lengthy tirades on this board from Indians who were upset at my pointing out some blunt facts which Mr. Iyangar notes as well) to read this sensible and informative article. It is this tradition of wisdom and knowledge that is the true strength of India, and what gives one hope for the future of south asia, and not the jingoism and militarism of the BJP ideologues that seems overrepresented at times on chowk.
Thanks for providing the link.
