I got a nephew at 6 foot 5 inch who calls his 6 foot 1 inch dad, my brother, ``shorty``. Dead serious sir. In the last 7 years in the US, haven`t seen one 6-footer pakistani. In toronto during an interview there was a young pakistani sitting with me who was about 6-foot I guess. He seemed shocked to see an Indian towering over him. Kinda went quiet.

Cricket is the only field Pak can ever hope to outclass India. Even here, i am afraid it is going to be very difficult for Pak this time around. This is a superb Indian team ever assembled. I think they are going to whip the Paki A$$.

perhaps you should ask those who have been insulted just how seriously it should be taken. such words have been used maliciously for years. . .it wasn`t just nations they insulted, it was people. i know that i would not want to be called a paki or if i was japanese to be called a jap. neither would my japanese friends. it`s all about respecting yourself and those around you. oh well. . .not much of that happens in chowk anyways, so what`s the point?

i don`t doubt that they did that. if you google the word paki, you`ll see a whole lot of stuff on paki pride, paki pop, paki this and that. but the fact still remains that historically, paki was used as offensive british slang to insult pakistanis and indians and bangladeshis. the older generations in bradford or birmingham could probably tell you that as well. dunno if you saw `bend it like beckham` but jess gets called a `paki` by someone on the opposing side and she reacts violently and gets the red card.

there is such a phenomenon, sociological or psychological, that has to do with taking a racial slur, and making it your own badge of pride. . .like some african-americans have done with the N-word. it still doesn`t change the fact that it`s historically a slur and that it still hurts a lot of people to hear that. i don`t know if that`s the case here with the word paki, but anyway. . .i know you won`t stop using it. : )
