i have always been interested about the essays of mercy killing, because i have never been able to find out whether any justification for mercy killing can be given or not.
i think that this really can never be justified because killink someone is after all killing someone..and i totallu agree with the writer.
but however there is another aspect that what if the person reaaly is in an unbearable pain and cannot face another moment of pain..but still life once gone will never come back......

i still havent come up with any conclusion...

Let me tell you a personal story :
One of my (close) relatives who belonged to a very upper class families in Karachi in 7o`s moved to UK for the better future of there 4 sons and one girl *the reason was there education*
now there sons are established , married and earning more and more where is there parents?
The old lady is a froster home somewhere in London and theer dad died some years back in froster home. The old lady *who can`t speak english* is living with about 80 English Grandpa`s and Grandma`s , a woman who used to wear Saris is wearing frocks , a woman who hated english food is eating beans and english food (thanks to there so-called proud sons). When my mom went there to meet the old lady my mom brought ( meat balls koftays) and the way she ate koftay was according to my mom ` was like she never evere ate food in 2o years` -- she asked my mom begged her to either take her away back to Pakistan or Kill her! her son later banned all visits to her ! I so wish either to kill her son or kill her (for the sake of humanity) --

Anish, has any patient ever asked you to end his/her life?
I was wondering what a doctor goes through when a patient asks him, rather, begs for mercy killing.

Anish:

int. topic...wish had more time to participate...

am for mercy killing in certain cases... yes, it can be misconstrued as playing god...but then using common sense has its pitfalls;)...

...advanced age/terminal condition/brain dead (at whatever age)/incurable and hopeless mental or physical condition....are some of the areas where i would look favourably on mercy killing as a way to ameliorate conditons for the subject as well as their families...
