What a person he (Zameer Naizi) was , Bina 3 cheers for wiriting the tribute --
Zameer Naizi was a example a institution himself, someone who helped everyone and anyone. I remember he wrote a article against my grandfather and according to him of all the pressure on him he never wrote a apology. Later they became very good friends. I know him as ` akhbari dada` ..
may Allah place him in Paradise..

Zamir fought long and hard, for no personal benefit, for no remuneration - against heavy odds - all alone - all his life. I bought his `Press in chains` many years back. He had put in so much of work for a noble cause.

God Bless his soul.

Would greatly appreciate it if you wrote about his life and works in detail. Would give other younger Pakistani`s a glimpse into how role model`s came to be what they were/are.

Just my two takka`s

Touche #5 jiya_f and Beena Sarwar

Zamir`s life was spent in searching for our national Zamir.

But is it extinction or hibernation? That still remains the question....

Please read the column by Anjum Niaz in Dawn Magazine today!

Seems like he was a pretty cool guy. I used to confuse him with Munir Niazi.

Very nice write-up, Beena. Zamir was, indeed, a great man. However, I fear that many people don`t even know of other Pakistani journalists. What about people like Muneeza Shamsie and Zaib-un-Nissa Hamidullah? Shamsie remains one of Pakistan`s formost journalists, and Begum Hamidullah was one of Pakistan`s first fighters for press freedom, as well as Pakistan`s first woman journalist. Why doesn`t anyone remember these people? (not a rhetorical question, answers and explanations would be greatly appreciated)
