RE: #7,
Hi Jawad Ali,
thanks for for reminding me about my younger cyber-warrior days on
soc.culture.pakistan. I have slowed with age and am somewhat more realistic now.
Have even become known to frequent a Masjid every now and then.
I like your site. I found out about it recently through another writer here.
Will be writing a report on KarachiKamera for Pakistan Link and maybe others
next week. CHOWK may not want to publish another piece on the same topic.

Thank you Ras, for your kind words.
It was not a meant to be report on the event. I wrote it before the event to encourage people to go see it. It somehow got lost at Chowk and appeared after the event. I hope that people still found it useful.
I am the editor of Muslim Wakeup (www.muslimwakeup.com). You can read some of my other writings there. The other useful link that got left out is Karachi Kamera (www.karachikamera.com).
Ras, I think I remember you (and several others here) from the early days of social.culture.pakistan.

jay: One of the most pathetic interactors on chowk, and you deserve no biscuit for it.

``The soul of Pakistan has never been filmed or televised``
Hello, what a beginning to an article, can you tell me in words ``what is the soul of pakistan``, let alone in films.
Let me tell you my friend, soul of pakistan is TNT, muslims cannot live with people of other religions. Now film the jihadic training camps, enlrage and print what is on the passport application about the ahmadias, and you are as close to the soul of pakistan as possible.

Jawad,
this is a very well written report (Dawn material). I could not have done
a better job than you with the style of presentation and word usage.
But in your hurry to get this on CHOWK (and beating me to it)
you appear to have have glanced over a great deal of what made
the showing last night most interesting.
Its almost like interrupting the open expression of Pakistani female sexuality
in ``Beauty Parlor``.
You approached this event in the detached manner of a true journalist.
I`ll have to try that sometime.
My CONGRATULATIONS to BUNYAD. Let us hope that you guys can keep
this going. The drive back to Sacramento was very tiring but worth it.
Ras
PS: I usually have to submit my report to Pakistan Link first. Since its a weekly
I usually get more time to write in the details (if I can remember them).

``We meet hamidm, a Pakistani drag queen in New York, in one surprisingly touching and subtle film. Hamidm has a day job, but his evenings are spent stitching glamorous outfits for himself and practicing his sexy dance routines. He comes across as a very sweet person and a devout Muslim. It is hard not to love him. He is philosophical about the indignities of being a Pakistani Muslim cross dresser. New York is not really much more tolerant either. Yet he would rather talk about how grateful he is to Allah for the opportunity to indulge in his “hobby” in this lifetime. ``
Finally, some acknowledgemnt and appreciation of hamidm`s art and life. It is a nice biography. I have seen it.
