``So lets keep talking, discussing, arguing, meeting but not hating or fighting. South Asia is a common heritage of both Pakistanis, Indians and other SAARC members. The 4000 years old Indus Valley Civilization is owned by all of us. ``
Yes, it is owned by all of us.

``and that is to write their stupid insults and ridicule of pakistanis and/or muslims from safety of the internet ``. `Safety of the internet` indeed!!
These kind of veiled threats are also a danger to any maeningful dialogue on forums like Chowk. The problem is that we`ve moved away from the declared purpose of this website - ``to know more about each other``. So, we have Indians jumping into debates on Islamic doctrine, Pakistanis poking fun at Indian deities, and the whole exercise falling apart.
There will always be trouble mongers, people who register just to throw expletives. But, how about those who dissent based on flawed perceptions. Like someone said, Indian defence expenditure is more than it ought to be. No one justified the defence expenditure, but the person was taken to task and deluged with homilies on the performance of the Pakistani army. Rubbing a scar will cause pain, how about writing some articles which we can`t get on websites, say the Pathan tribes in NWFP, or the way Indo-Pak communities mix in North-America, what kind of place is Karachi, or Islamabad, or Lahore, who are Bhoomihaars (some Hindu caste in Bihar), the Maxist insurgencies in India, the role of Christian missinaries in India/pak, role of Hindu missionaries in tribal areas...
I see some people try this, but we never care. I don`t think we can change perceptions by abusing, let`s divert our energies to more fruitful pursuits. I know I`ve not been a model interactor myself, but I want to make a fresh start. Actions speak louder than words, so I`ll try to control my natural instincts of belittling, heaping scorns and getting worked up at the slightest of slights.
Not sure if this long post influences anyone, but let me true to my conscience by giving it a decent try.
Long Live Chowk!!

{{I am glad that they yanked my previous post. I went thru the Dost Mittar moment after I had hit the submit button. I was hoping that they would reject it.}}
Dear me! What a crying shame. You have been hitting a consistently high standard with your posts on this board. You must have surpassed all previous limits with the rejected post – in all likelihood a masterpiece of its genre. Is the loss permanent, or could you possibly reconstruct it from memory?

CHOWK STAFF: One more thing (further to my post below)
barachota was a nice guy. He was new to chowk, meaning no harm to anyone (unlike the self-proclaimed paki-bashers). I had some really interesting chats with him (some in french, which he obviously enjoyed practicing as much as I did). Indeed, he even started off with very positive things about india. Got sucked into a ``discussion`` with these paki-bashers who live and breathe insults and ridicule (obviously the only life they have ever known). I tried to warn him by telling him how many of these Indian posters I refuse to have any ``discussions`` (although I dont mind putting the mirror to their face once in a while if they get too carried away with their own delusions and stupid insults). Poor barachota was new, didnt realize the scum he was dealing with, and lost his cool and I saw some heated posts from him after which I left the board.
CHOWK STAFF: Fine. If some breaks chowk guidelines (for any reason, provoked or unprovokied) then toss the man or woman out. But be consistent. That is all I ask.

HP: Great Post. Shows that you are a man of great character. I have had a few of my posts deleted by chowk staff too, and I agree that they did the right thing. I do hope they let barachota back though - il etet mon amis avec qui je peu practiquer mon francais (he was my friend with whom I could practice my french).

Nice try with the face saving tactic but it won`t work.
Too bad you didn`t go thru the Dost Mittar moment when you wrote #542, #516, #496, #386. I read your post #565 which was removed and it was equally venomous and foul as your other posts so you`re not really fooling anybody.
By REPEATEDLY hitting out in the manner you did to a female in these posts, you have only exposed yourself, and the respect you have for women in general.

I`ll miss barachota. He was a very witty and intelligent fellow. They removed his extremely witty and well written posts as well. *sigh*
There are thousands of posts by Hindutva nuts in chowk archives where they have abused and insulted individuals (Farzana and Romair are the top targets) and hurled invective on Pakistan, Islam etc. Why were they never axed?
chowk-staff wrote ``Chowk welcomes you to read, write and think. This means to open your mind to views new and different from your own.``.... what they really meant to say was that Pakistanis should learn to tolerate, understand and appreciate the abuse they receive from Hindutva nuts and other assorted rabid Indians.
Hey chowk-staff, if you want Pakistanis to open their minds to gujjubania`s and dost-mitter`s views, why not let Indians open their minds to barachota`s views? His views are much less virulent then the former, no?
