[``Sadna has been at the receiving end from me for quite a long time``
You are one brave man! For both doing it and admitting it (in public). Make sure you clear this with DM and Aunty Tom. You too could get in a lot of trouble.]
Aunty Tom? The usual reference in the US is to (Uncle Tom and) Aunt Jemima though I admit that it could inadvertently be taken to mean (the soon-to-be-ex) Mrs. Imran Khan in the Pakistani context. We wouldn`t want that, would we?
[Peace]
In Kashmir? Along the LOC? Along the entire border? On Chowk?
You need to be more precise!

You quoted Najam Sethi:
[Editor’s response: Both gentlemen above have missed the point of our editorial and confirmed the point that we made: that middle class Indians are obsessed with India’s bid for big power status than with alleviating poverty. We argued that India should be spending more on the social sector than on trying to win an abstract big power status by means of its military strength. This is the message that hundreds of millions of poor Indians spelt out clearly in the last elections. For much the same reason, we also advised Pakistan to reduce the rate of growth of its defence expenditures and not get caught in an arms-race trap with India.]
It seems it is not just the middle-class Indians (though they are the ones who wrote to The Friday Times) who are obsessed with big power status. It is the Government of India that is ``obsessed`` with big power status. The fact that such obsession transcends the political party in power should tell Najam Sethi that India is determined to pursue whatever it wants regardless of what the Indian electorate is supposed to have voted for as interpreted by Mr. Sethi or any other Pakistani.
The last people Indians need to take advice on military matters from are those who lost half their country and THEN doubled their army. Talk about locking up the stables after the horses bolted!
If this should be out of solicitous concern that our boys in uniform might get funny ideas when they get their shiny new toys, such as taking over Doordarshan and arresting the Prime Minister, we thank you for your concern but assure you that they do not need aircraft carriers and AWACS aircraft for that purpose. As your boys in uniform have demonstrated repeatedly, a few rifles and a couple of jeeps would be sufficient for that purpose and it would be kind of difficult to maneuver an aircraft carrier on the Jumna river.
The bottom line is: we have the bucks and we intend to spend it as WE please.
PS. Taking into consideration the tremendous victories that the Pak Army has achieved in its history, don`t you think it could be reduced to a single brigade in strength and they could still take over the government?

“I confess i have committed such acts of indiscretion in the past and i am not proud of it.”
I am glad that you said that. You recall when you and some of your friends abused a woman roundly on this board and not a single Indian and that includes Dost mittar too, came out and tried to stop you and other people from doing that. In fact, when you said you were leaving the board some pmps came out and said you were a great contributor and still nobody asked you to restrain yourself from abusing a woman.
Now all of sudden, all well meaning Indian including Dost mittar are asking people to not to abuse this Sadass. Why these double standard?
Was it okay to abuse her because of her religion and ethnicity? NOW, it is NOT okay to abuse Sadass because of her religion and ethnicity.
Barachota actually apologized to Sadass and she did not have the courtesy to even respond to that and continued abusing him by referring to his body parts explicitly.
In your case, you have still not apologized to the lady you abused.
I am not talking about some payback here nor am I using her shoulder to fire my ammo. I am bringing up behaviors to compare the two situations as I know that person could have defended herself well if she had chosen to respond to your and some other Indian`s abuse.
It is clear that it is an issue of US vs them.
Nobody likes to be abusive or disrespectful to anybody and I am afraid this woman has been abusing posters and she always brings up the match to ignite the tinderbox. It is not the first time around that she has been picked up and this will not be the last time either. All of this is well trod territory here at chowk.

barachota,
i never questioned the rationale for your #384. i almost expect certain pakistanis to respond the way you did/are doing.
my post was addressed to chowk-staff who see it fit to relax their censorship policies for a select group of people... since neither i nor you/omar can find anything comparable to #384 from an indian, it can only mean that either indians don`t write such posts or those are censored.
take your pick.

Barachota/527 - I thank you, for your response, without any aspersions towards being patronising, condescending or having an Indian slant. I thank you for your placing your real name on the board, too.
Please believe me when i say that in my opinion you bring an energy as well as level of knolwedge to this website which is needed. I can only hope that you do not waste this energy by joining the pissing competition?
I shall, by this message, also try to get the same thought across to some of the Indians who have similar energy and knowledge levels. May I just name 2, Nikki and Gujjubania?
Thank you.

As regards my monologues on my trip to Pakistan, please appreciate that I am not a trained or full time media person. I am, however, lucky enough to enjoy an alternate competency as a media person, in English as well as various other languages, and for the English as well as vernacular medias, often under pseudonyms now.
Much of my media work in India invariably ends up sounding as though I am out there simply looking for the ills in India. Well, somebody has to do this job, too. You look for the dirt, you research it, then you present it. After some time, society takes over.
During my trip to Pakistan, I tried to be as positive as I could. I was not out there looking for dirt unless it was thrust into my face.
However, I am also reasonably cynical when needed, pragmatic is another word.
Unlike most other media reports on Pakistan by Indians, mine was funded by me, and without much pre-defined planning other than the entry and exit.
Just thought I would let you know.

Your observations about sexual themes in Hindu temples are interesting.
You may have issues with Coolair but u seem to implicate a whole religion!
You seem to be ignorant of Hindusim and bigoted enough to hate a religion because u do not see eye to eye with some persons in chowk.
My dear friend, if u are not already aware, this makes u another jehadi: ignorant and bigoted.
BTW, u are doing a good job of defending ``whatever it is u are defending``. The number of posters that u have in this forum is impressive!
Let me try to clear your ignorance first.
What is your problem with those sexual themes in temples of Khajraho or other temples?
Hindusim celebrates life and sexual union is considered not a sin. I talked about this topic in another forum in chowk. These motifs are usually in the exteriors and disappear when u are inside the inner sanctum of the temple.
Temples in HInduism are not just for worship but were places of social interaction, political discourse, drama, dances etc. In that way, these are different from Mosques or Churches.
In hindu religion, u do not have to go to temple at all to be religious. One can just meditate at home.

The hor is smarting in her pants and recycling old jokes. This moronic hor has an itch. She itches at the wrong place. What can you expect from these Kerala Clowns? Guess, it will take some time but this itch will go away.
Listen up hor since you have started me on jokes, I will be posting some choice ones for your itchy-btchy snatch.
Just keep coming back until your mother turns over in her pyre.

HP-the-mullah! I am glad I am in India because my legal system does not provide blasphemy laws as a stick for the mullahs like you to beat others with when they have some personal score to settle. You remain an unfortunate piece of work- first attempting to spam the board with you fanatic slogans in your pre-April avatar, and now returning to the same fanatic and abusive self despite recanting - kuch to Imaan ki baat karo??
