Anoop,
Very good piece this. The stacatto works. And as Farah pointed out, nice dollops of detail. And your response to t kind of spoils the pleasure for those who might read responses before reading the piece.
Looks like the block has been removed ... on the writing front!

you need to ponder on what is unsaid rather than what is said here. A suggestion- look at it from the point of view of the guilt of the `inadequate` son, not quite a prodigal- and you may begin why the cold, distinctly aloof, detached approach is necessary.

Anoop: i read the entire psssage in almost one go. excellent way of handling such a topic. short sentences. very meaningful. you`ve pointed out details like the watch, gold flake, lunch, nurses, etc. very eloquently.
temporal: i actually like the `cold and distinctly aloof and detached` way he`s used. brings a certain clarity to the descriptions.

[....handpainted sign ``Operation Theatar`` in your average Hindi flick...]
How about ``Operation Theatore`` at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi? (I saw it in a TV program.)
