Indira Gandhi was the best PM we ever had. She showed the world what woment can do. She earned the respect of the whole world. We should thoroughly investigate to make sure the Pakis didn`t cause her untimely death.

[The 1984 riots were at best a betrayal of Sikh people by a political party.]
Definitely worse than Operation Blue Star. The Congress that proclaims itself to be secular, did nothing as thousands of innocent Sikhs who had nothing to do with the Khalistan movement were butchered. At least the terrorists who perished in Operation Blue Star deserved the treatment they got.
[Operation Blue Star was an attack on Sikhism by India.]
Operation Blue Star was an attack on those terrorists who had taken over the Golden Temple and turned it into a hellhole. Ordinary Sikhs who wanted to visit it could not do so without fear of attacks. India did what it had to do to purge the temple of terrorists whose agenda was purely political and not religious. In the process, the temple got damaged, but even so, great care was taken to see that the it was minimized. Some soldiers lost their lives because they were asked not to fire back if they were fired upon from inside the temple. Even the repair and reconstruction work was carried out by the Army. What more could the Army have done?

Jang:
I do believe that from a religious perspective the 1984 attack on the Golden Temple was a worse attack. I disagree with Kaura or Paradaisi (whoever made the other arguement).

There were two attempts on Tytler. He has a long life. Lalit Maken and his wife were killed though for planning and leading attacks on Sikhs in south Delhi.

``Shaheed Beant Singh and Shaheed Satwant Singh did the biggest favor to the country by killing the Daayan. That is a nationalist perspective. ``
what is surprising to me is that Lt Gen Brar lives in a secure area to date due to threats by his own Mama among other sikh hot-heads, but others congressites (Tytler etc), the culprits of 1984 masscres have no problems. what that tells me is that the sikh hot-head community considers the entering the temple as a worst griveance as compared to 1984 riots. (I am not proposing any violence here, but an observation).

I think US should do their bismillah for democracy from the friendly nations like Pakistan, Kuwait, Qatar, etc. which are under their occupation and there is no Iraq like insurgency there either.

Americans are the most informed people on this planet - the avenues and the options that they have to find information is just awesome - they don`t live in a Stallinist hellhole and despite that, the way they have behaved after 9/11 has revoked thier privilege of benefit of doubt. Honeymoon is over - they are responsible for all the crimes against humanity that they committ like any other nation they are so fond of accusing.

I dont have any far-sighted answers other than those implicit in my interacts.
kkkandk#115:
``I hate to generalize, but I notice that Poonjabis think that they are the only ones with problems, grievances, and issues. If they are happy, everyone should be happy. If they have an itch, then everyone needs to start scratching.``
Maybe because others cannot resolve their problems peacefully and then make panjabis ``qurabani ka bakraas``. If anything, Panjabis have always obliged them thus deserving the title of ``daggas`` for them

``............. arn`t we forgetting something here? ............. has anybody noticed that big bad saddam is gone and the iraqi people have a fair chance at electing some sort of a democratic government?........... now what is wrong with that?........... ``
I am surprised at how a smart man like you can be so deluded. How can the iraqis elect a govt. which is both democratic and untheocratic? You are lucky that you are in Detroit, whose key your mayor once gave to Saddam, and not in Baghdad where you wouldn`t have been able to pop your champagne bottle to celebrate Saddam`s departure. You could have done that in Saddam`s Iraq without any problem. Now the infidels are being forced to close their liquor shops and it wont be long before the ``modesty`` in dress is imposed upon the daughters of the ummah.
Saddam was no angel (there aren`t many among the haakims of the world today!) but Iraq under him was closest to the type of society you want in Arabia. Women were equal partners in all spheres of the society, some even wore skirts. He was the enemy of OBL because of his secularism until he was forced to seek the help of Allah by the Americans and added ``allah-o-akbar`` to his flag.
And hold that merlot until the drama reaches its conclusion. The Americans have already handed Fallujah to a Saddam buddy and I am sure are now searching for a Saddam-like figure to get them out of their miseries.

Urstruly:
Thanks for reading and agreeing with the analysis. Some points:
``However, since American people, by nature, are arrogant fukks, therefore, they will do exactly opposite to what common sense suggests.``
I don`t think that the American people are as arrogant as they are ignorant. The free press American press has been a willing tool of the administration and completely misled the American people. The New York Times and Washington Post have already done a mea culpa but the worst culprit was the electronic media wrt keeping Americans in the dark about how their govt. was manipulating them with lies and deception.
``American people know very well that what their government does around the world is what puts food on the table – Bush or Kerry, doesn’t make a difference.``
I disagree with you. The oil will continue to be produced no matter who runs the govts. in the oil producing countries, and the price will be determined largely by the markets, otherwise it would not have gone down from $40 to $10 a barrel and rise to $46 now. You would however been correct in saying that what ``their`` govt. does around the world puts the caviar and champagne on the tables of a few in the US.
Re. Chavez victory, I`m waiting if the Americans accept the results as valid or not and how the Venezualans will be ``rewarded`` for this exercise in democracy.

You have not rattled any cages. You are simply pouting.
Most of your indian inter-acters have condemned the ethnocide of sikhs in delhi in 1984, and are just as angry at the inability / unwillingness of the present government to punish the guilty. MMS should have taken a stand at known killers being given cabinet posts.
Similarlly Modi should have been fired by the previous government, for dereliction of duty, if nothing else.
But you chose not to notice all this. and presume to speak on behalf of all sikhs (Who died and made you king, btw?) and spout nonesense like `we do not care`. Most sikhs do.
