Most pakistanis do not want to hear it from indians, because they think of it as patronizing, but this is meant sincerely. What is killing pakistan, is the lack of democracy. Most will point to India`s social iils and say what kind of democracy is that? But that is mixing up two entirely un-related things. India`s social ills are a product of it`s history, not of it`s democratic system adopted 57 years ago.
One man, One women One vote. So simple a solution, yet so unattainable. Maybe when a brotherly country like Irak becomes democratic (I know, I know, the odds do not look too good), Pakistanis will be more receptive to the idea.

A beautiful, deep and moving piece of writing. It hits the nail right on the head. Unfortunately few have caught the gist of it. It simply says that the average Pakistani is not sincere enough to think beyond his own vested interests and lives in a bubble of superficial patriotism. It simply says that given the opportunity to materially advance ahead ones neighbours, friends and `competitive` family members one would even stab this patient. So much for the land of the pure that gave birth to him, now its parts are being severed and put for sale. Whether its the army, politicians, bureaucracy or whoever, they are simply executing and accelerating the murder. The sadest part is not the implementation, but the silent acceptance of the Middle lower, Middle, Middle upper, upper class etc whose interests are being advanced in one way or another. The rest of the people are only suceptible to be made a fool out of because of their mere conditions which have led to their lack of understanding.

For all the indians with the condeceding messages, I reproduce a news item from today`s Times of India. Obviously democracy doesnt work always. If the results of democracy are not as per your liking then you always have Indian Army to fall back upon to unleash terror but somehow you cant win hearts and minds.
Kashmir mobiles ring in Pak tunes

SRINAGAR: This is infiltration no one will be able to check. For it can’t be seen, and comes over virtual borders. This is not terrorism, but has the potential to turn into an ugly issue of territorial loyalty.
In Kashmir, where the people find the National Anthem, Jan Gan Man, unfamiliar, Pakistani national anthem, Pak Sarzameen Shadhbaan, has become a favourite.
So much so that, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) mobiles in Kashmir are buzzing with Pakistani national anthem ringtones.
School kids, college-goers and Kashmir University students have their phones playing their favourite tunes that have come all the way from Pakistan.
``I received it from one of my friends in Srinagar,`` Feroz Ahmad, a professional in his 20s told Times of India .
In turn, his friend received it from his friend. But the ringtone actually came from the people who have friends and relatives in Pakistan.
``It has become a long chain and it is demanded by friends. I too have sent this ringtone to at least one dozen friends,`` Majid says.
Pak Sarzameen Shadhbaaan is a well-liked in Kashmir as against the National Anthem, says Aaftab Wani, an unemployed youth.
Aaftab throws light on the reasons to this peculiarity. One, in Kashmir, the National Anthem was never taught to students in schools or colleges. Two, the hatred for India, which is growing ever since 1947, that finally resulted in militancy in 1989-90. Three, the natural love for Pakistan. People in Kashmir feel closer to the theocratic nation -- demographically, geographical and religiously.
``It has been like that ever since 1947. We saw and knew more of Pakistan in more than one ways. We used to hear Pakistan Radio or BBC instead of All India Radio ; we know names of Pakistani states, their daily temperatures and cricketers,`` Aaftab says.
He adds, ``In 1990, when insurgency erupted in Kashmir Valley, people set their watches half an hour behind Indian time so as to match the Pakistani time.``
``We still feel as a natural supporter of Pakistani Cricket team,`` says 60 years old Aslam Beig of Baramulla.
“Even now, Pakistan`s Independence Day is celebrated by hoisting green flags around and August 15 - India`s Independence Day is marked as Black Day,” he points out.
Besides, there are five Pakistani TV channels Geo , Q , Ary Arynews and PTV currently running through cable network in Kashmir.
``The latest trends in outfits, make-up and other things are adopted here because we feel part of the Muslim society in Pakistan,`` says Naseema, a Kashmir University student whose wardrobe is full of Pakistani salwaar kameez.
Ali Mohammad, a taxi driver, however says, ``This does not mean Kashmiri people want to accede with Pakistan. People just feel closer to Pakistan.``

Sher Shah,
There are so many of these ill-fated traumas of natural life living in Pakistan where it still sometimes takes a person three hours standing in line to pay one`s electric bill, waiting years for the courts to decide a verdict, pulling innumerable strings to get an average job to make ends meet, being repeated quashed under the boots of government departments to get some genuine job done, facing illegal police extortion of middle-class citizens for one by arresting their children under false pretences and asked money to release them, and people living through rape of their girl relatives by landlords among other instances.
And we still find people who live through this horror and when you ask them what they think of Pakistan, they say, ``Pakistan Zindabad!``
We youth must be the wave of change, but not by brandishing weaponry at the oppressors. Rather to educate our young (and old alike) of and to wake them up to the fallacies of our society and give them an optimistic map of the future and to work with them on ways to make the dreams of our greatest poets and scholars and patriots come true.
``Be the change you want to see in the world.`` - Gandhi

What does that article prove, other than TNT is alive and well? Until that evil and ugly theory is rooted out, we will have no peace. Maybe instead of Gandhi, if India had a strong man, who would have lined up every TNT wallla against a paan stained wall and shot them dead, we would have been better off.

What is killing Pakistan is it`s commitment with religion. We are trying to run behind a ghost which doesn`t really exist. This deprives us of any cohenrancy, any common agenda. On the other hand, confusion and intolerant dissent are very much in.
For an example, let`s take a patron who wants to Islamize Pakistan (let`s take Zia for instance). His policies take the country backward beyond imagination but nobody condemns him vigorously because he did most of the stuff for the holy grail of religion.
On the other hand, if we have some good administrator who happens to be open minded, we will not appreciate the good he brings to us because he will not look religious to us. Please note that at least I have no doubt in the fact that a religious oriented ruler can never be competant administrator.
So, we don`t know clearly what we need and this innocent evil sitting there on the top most place is instilling a numbness in the whole nation and this is what is killing us.

And I can say this article is becoming more and more a hot issue....
Didn`t anyone read behind the text that it is the people itself? Look at what is happening in London at the moment.... They put the patient Pakistan in it`s grave..... People, respect your country as you respect your parents!! If you go visit outside the house, take care that you behave as how your parents used to raise you.... And now read the article again with this in mind......
