The naxal movement started out as a backlash against rich landlords who had oppressed poor farmers to the extent they had to depend on them for even their 2 meals. But some criminals hijacked it along the way with the result that it has now degenerated into an organized crime racket. The poor, who saw the naxals as a voice for them, are now at the mercy of these very goons.

The Government can talk to those who have genuine grievances, but what is going to talk to those who are merely goons? The naxals have sympathizers amongst the police as well as politicians. Unless the unholy nexus is broken, the situation is bound to remain the way it is, even worsen.

Redressal of the grievances of the poor should be given priority. Only then can the Govt. hope to break the back of this movement.

Urstruly:

A political opponent is not a terrorist. Have you heard of Jayaprakash Narayan? Challanged Indian establishment more then anyone else. Damaged entrenched feudalism in Bihar through shear moral responsibility. Never had to pick up a gun. Nver killed innocent people, scared the government through sheer mass movement. Though I politically am not a leftist I have nothing but admiration for the man.

Terrorists are those who pick up the gun and kill innocent people.

Dear Hindu People!

I don`t get it. Why in India, persumably a democratic country, every political opponent is a terrorist? I mean, I know what ails us - why no tolerance for dissent or opposing point of view. But what is wrong with you. Why do you have to kill evryone who doesn`t subscribe to your own brand of ideology? haiN? Leave them Nexalites alone, let `em live

All this commie Naxals land re-distribution activity reminds me of a similar thing in another part of the world. The negroid people in Zimbabwe headed by Chimp Mugabe are doing the same thing. Oh the horror........ The evil rich ( whitey ) is keeping the poor darkie down........ ohmigod. Whether the negroids in Zimbabwe actually succeeded in creating a land of milk and Honey after correcting the supposed injustices is a good question.

the author and all his fellow ``kacha`` wearing sanghis are all upset over the law & order problems in india. my question to the saffron brigade volunteers is why they were not raising these questions when BJP was in power. Dont these gandhi murderers remember that this government is 100 days old. so all the above mentioned law & order problems are a legacy of 6 years of BJP misrule and now UPA will have to clear up the mess left behind by BJP.

The gist of the matter is that RSS wallas are still frustrated over the fact that they have been booted out of the government and are hell bent on disrupting the functioning of the present government.

BJP is a terrible opposition party that is being a destabilizing force for the country as it always has been.

All i can say is...... Indians are bonafide morons.

For 50 years we have collectively lived through the hell of Congress rule..... the sheer incompetency, absolute corruption, total mismanagement, etc, etc....

All it takes for the Indians to vote en masse to stupidity is a Gandhi family name and sexy figure of their youngest.

Well, the stupid south Asian negroids deserve what they voted for.

Excellent article. The present Indian government is bending the knee to terrorists and the fact that Leftists are in the governing coalition means that the Maoist and Naxalite leftist groups are getting a free hand.
