FM has great potential and a huge audience........but thequality of porgrams is pathetic.......too much of small talk.....housewife material and cooking recepies and now that indian songs r allowed.......all they do is ...play thiose filmy songs.....and do nuttin......plays and intellectual discussion r rare or completely absent.......its on decline in quality but on the rise in audience

In Pakistan We have an impressive (radio) infrastructure, one of the best in the world, with broadcasting content that is of limited interest for its listeners, Obviously, all this enthusiasm over FM radio has brought in jostling among the industry, i want to know more abt Fm radio in pakistan

EXCELLENT ARTICLE, touching on an important issue - i think this is part of the bigger picture on the sort of revolution taking place in pakistan where new t.v. stations are popping up with great programmes as well as the radio scene as the author has discussed. We should applaud this information revolution and embrace it - a healthy society is one which debates and is open to a wide spectrum of arguments and views.

A lot of radio is entertainment, and that in itself is fine, but if its scope can be (and is being) expanded to provide vital information to people about their rights, their options, and possibilities that they might otherwise be unaware of, it should be considered indispensible. Given that the majority of this country is illiterate and poor, radio may well be THE medium of empowerment. Good article.

FM radio was not supposed to be like this. It now functions like AM radio.
