//...When you have a hard time distinguishing between ``persecution`` and outright state-engineered slaughter, rape, torture, and burning of innocent human beings, I expect very little understanding from you...//
So there is a difference between how you persecute Ahmedis, hindus, christians .... and the way Modi persecurtes his muslim subjects ????
May be there is a difference - but the persecuted minorties in pakiland and those in Modiland will NOT agree. For them - it`s all the same.
But, now I understand where you are coming from. It`s the Book - isn`t it - which says you can legally persecute kufrs and ahmedis???

scott/244 - thank you for your non-opinionated opinion, too. The only person I know with four wifes is a dear friend who also contributes to chowk now and then. He had his four wifes at separate times, and they did not get in the way of his writing as well as scoring abilities. As a matter of fact he is quite a respected historian who knows a lot about India and Pakistan and history and sociology and Lahore and Banaras and stuff, and was the one who pointed out to me that the photo put up by Manto Yasser about the gate of the Government College Lahore was actually one that had been morphed with a picture of a gate at BHU with the students therein.
tahmed32/257 - Sir I am not being mean.
I have been more than grateful to my Pakistani friends and my reportage has been adjudged more than fair by many of them. I think there is a segment who can not read well who are going about passing adverse judgements, so I suggest you read the travelogues again. They are also up at outlook`s website, are being transalated and serialised.
Luckily for me, one of the Indian media photographers who spent the full month travelling Pakistan during the cricket days has presented me with a huge album of his photographs. I am wading through them right now, waiting for Yasser Manto to improve his photo pasting skills, and shall then post them to him to scan and place on the Internet to his already burgeoning collection of Lahore delight snaps.
Apart from the fact that I have not laughed like this in a long time, imagining the fine young Yasser and Omar foaming at the gills as they go about pasting photographs, which may have been mean.
Manto/258 - I know about Govt College, Lahore, my Dad was from there. I am just telling you to take a closer look at the photograph you`ve put up, it has been morphed with another one from a similar gate at BHU/Banaras. Since this is your first day with photographs on the net, I can understand.
And I am glad to learn from you that jehad boxes are simple voluntary donation boxes for mosques and women wearing hijabs at Lahore RS were ignorant visitors from India.
Manto/259 - yes, we know that was not Falettis. The DTC bus drivers/conductors stay there now, so we would have seen their buses parked in its courtyard.
manto/265 - your efforts on photo-pasting not-withstanding, this latest bunch shows only some buildings, roads and plenty of men. Where are those denim clad feminine hordes?

rajsinghi/206 - the economics of running a newspaper (or tv channel, or magazine, etcetc) always but always factor in the non-tangible benefits that the owners of the media manage to acquire.
Salaries in Pakistan are, today, lower than in India. Newsprint is not subsidised in India, has not been for over 15 years now, though it is ``controlled`` in Pakistan and available at a lower rate. Newsprint and machinery usually come from the same Canadian and European sources, respectively. To my first hand knolwedge, Pakistani newspapers tend to be printed on lower quality newsprint and with what appears to be older technology machines and dies.
In other words, Pakistan has every reason to produce and sell newspapers at cheaper prices than India.
But they don`t. And not just that, even availability is blocked. The ONLY place within walking distance of Lahore RS where you can get newspapers and magazines is the RS itself; there are none of those stalls and shops that you would expect to find outside.
Likewise, I did not come across one single public newspaper display, where media or public spirited persons would take newspapers or magazines and place it either on a wall/board or reading area. The general population is starved of reading matter, though the presence of television and video is excessive.
On the baba/baby log factor, do appreciate that feudalism is fully prevalent, socially acceptable and growing stronger in Pakistani society as was prevalent in the pre-Independence era too. There has been hardly any worthwhile land-reform. Bonded labour is still the practice rather than the exception.
I have discussed this issue about the Indian media not coming out with home truths about the Pakistani media with some of the best of them, and the reply is`` oh well, when they come here they are our guests and when we go there then they are our hosts so how can we etcetc?
-- all i can say, esp with reference to the pakistani media, is that u are a lying SOB (and that`s putting it politely) -- i have been in print journalism since 1993 and have gone to India three times and interacted with many journalists there -- and the cost of living u moron -- this is something u could get from seeing the newspaper price differentials -- is such that salaries in Pakistan are higher -- so your most basic premise is wrong and those this has been denied several times by me it really doesnt matter to a liar such as yourself -- as for the chemists in lahore and news stands in lahore, again either you`re blind or an inveterate liar -- i think the consensus on chowk leans decidely towards the latter -- i hope the sadnas, the arjuns or the other self-anointed paki haters here will not spring to your defence -- u, sir, are a liar but your articles, esp travelogues (which need to be judged with some sort of factual context and frame) are quite inaccurate but are repeatedly published on chowk -- reflects poorly on chowk as well -- look at any pakistani newspaper moron and u will find that they do a better job of reflecting reality in pakistan than the mainstream indian press does in the indian case -- in fact one reason why the BJP defeat was sort of unexpected, or for that matter chandrababu naidu`s defeat came as a shocker (at least to audiences outside india) was because the indian press fed them a daily diet of everything being all and well -- `shining india` wasnt really all that shining, something that the majority of the indian interactors on chowk cant seem to come to grips with --

I didn`t see any outrage from you when Muslim Sudanese (specifically, black Africans) are being killed by Muslim Sudanese (Arabs) in Darfur.
Oops, I forgot: it is okay for Muslims to kill Hindus, it is okay for Muslims to kill Christians, it is okay for Muslims to kill Jews, it is even okay for Muslims to kill Muslims. But no one but Muslims should touch even a hair of another Muslim.
Thanks for the lesson from Al-Koran.

No Pakistanis killed....one million Bengalis slaughtered like squealing goats at Eid.
Now that is one hell of an equation. Zero Pakistanis = One million Bangladeshis.
What a fukkin shytehole of a genocide receptacle is Pakistan.

Veerishms:
1. ``the only medicines available I saw in Pakistan were aspirin varieties in general stores and some other stuff being smuggled in by the people on the Indo-Pak train....Likewise, I did not see any chemist shops in Pindi.``
Damn. I always knew those chemist shops were fronts for some shady deals going on. Veeresh was too clever and saw through that right away. ha! ha!
2. ``Lahore Govt. College is a reconstruct of a scene from Banaras Hindu University (BHU) ``
I spent four years at Lahore Govt. College. Now I realize it was all a fake, a dream. That building I walked in for four years (admiring the prettiest girls I have ever seen...those were the days) was not even in Lahore all the time!!! Guru Veeresh knows that Banares Hindu University is the only building in the world that has gothic architecture, as veeresh knows very well. Indeed, gothic architecture was invented by those clever benarasis. ha! ha!
3. to salim ``you have lost the acid touch``. So sad. Calling the law firm of kkandk. Salim needs you back to provide the acid touch to veeresh.
4. ``people from Lahore in denial``. Yup. They continue to welcome anyone - including Indians - with open arms and warm hearts. They need to wake up and get real from veeresh.
5. No response from veeresh to the picture I helpfully provided to back veeresh`s History of Lahore, Revised Edition, where he pointed how ``Lahore was liberated in 1971``. I suppose this means I dont get the 100% tip veeresh gave at the Lahore restaurants (which werent really restaurants, as veeresh knows, but just dhabas towed on the India-Pakistan train from Delhi).
Veeresh: seriously man. Get a life. I may have to put you on lithium if you go on like this.

Dost Mittar: I didnt read whatever gibberish mohar addressed to me since i am told him i would not be wasting anymore time with his posts - the man is a proven liar, and based on what i read in your post he has proven it once again.
#258 Posted by tahmed32 on October 25, 2004 7:39:41 am
Veeresh: Actually, more seriously, I am amazed at the meanness with which you repay the pakistanis who were obviously (from your posts) quite hospitable to you. And hamidm`s advice is good - stop making a fool out of yourself by making such absurd statements.
#257 Posted by MantoLives on October 25, 2004 7:39:41 am
Veeresh,
You are either delusional or an outright liar . Government College Lahore is very famous and has existed for a long time too... http://www.gcu.edu.pk/Home.htm .... Many luminaries from not only Pakistan but Indians have gone there... that you are denying its existence is further evidence of your bigotry. It is amazing the kind of lies you are putting up here.... jehad boxes for example were more likely simply donation boxes for Mosques... but to someone like you there is little difference... the women who covered themselves when entering Pakistan were probably Indians visiting Pakistan for the first time and boy are they in for a shock. You admitted that you never visited 80% of Lahore and you were basing your judgement on selective experience and that too a very biased interpretation....
Friend...
I am not responsible for the order the chowk staff puts my posts in... so grow up.

PS:
One correction: The picture attributed to Falettis is actually Lahore Country Club. It is still Lahore...
However how delusional can one be to deny the existence of Government college Lahore....
More pictures to follow... more of veeresh`s lies to be deconstructed...

I wonder why Veerish malik was humming this song all along while on his way back to India.
`` aaj mai jawan ho gayee hoon
Gul se Gulistan ho gayee hoon``
Is it due to Gul burger, or maybe its because of our fine young soldier from the Northern parts of Pakistan ... my bet however is on the famous Fair, tall, handsome Custom Official ... any clues !!!!

HP 249,
This is the extent of their democracy, their secularism, their equality... I think harimau`s statement says it all... he is an enlightened, educated and liberal Indian .... but even the most bigoted Mullah/ sectarian fanatic in Pakistan would be put to shame by what he said...
Given this background ... is it surprising that Veeresh was never taught to tell the truth?
