Good informative article.
[According to them, God set the values of the universal constants in precisely such a manner that the universe could support human life.]
``Not only human life but all kind of life``, according to Maulana Maudoodi or some other Islamic scholar. One of the example to go with the above statement of yours is: ``God purposefully made the density of ice lower than that of water at 4 celsius so that sea life in the arctic and antarctic seas can survive under ice.`` Many Christian scriptural fundamentalist also agree with this statement. However when you use the same logic for native Americans to cross Bering sea and coming to Americas (thereby god choosing to give this land to native Americans, like giving Palestine to Isarealites), they balk. Now instead they justify it as ``manifest destiny`` and similar stuff.

Dear discoverer:
To answer your fisr question, the scientists do not believe that God has much to do with the working of our universe. Much of it can be explained without reference to God. The other mysteries which remain unexplained at present will probably be explained at due time. Such a belief is the strong suit of science; without this belief, there will not be much motivation to do science. If God has created the universe and the laws that govern its operation, He can also change them at will. In such circumstances, there won`t be any science, it will all be the will of God.
But again, there are many scientists who are believers; their belief is however very much different from the conventional belief. Their God does not interefere in science. The question as to who created the laws of nature is still a mystery. Many believing scientists tend to attribute the creation of the laws of nature to God; many others are just indifferent. It doesn`t make a great deal of difference either way.
Hope, the above answers your questions although they may not be entirely to your liking. Belief in God is a personal thing which is quite okay.
