Unfortunately, I am totally against the idea of a professional Pakistani Army. I wish that people of Pakistan could disbanned this criminal outfit. Any mention of it that glorifies it or its methods or its equipments makes my skin crawl. Why can`t we have a revolutionary gurad type militia where all able-bodied ordinary Pakistanis go through a compulsory rigorous two year military training under the watch of a very small organized professionals of no more than 30K to 50K in strength. After all Iranians did fight a 10 year war against West and its puppets, and were unbeaten. This proposed army would rely on hightech weaponary backed by a viable nuclear deterrent rather than on the foot soldiers. That way the foot soldiers and generals would be able to make an honest living like rest of us instead of sucking our blood.

Ijaz # 2

I recollect the Lal Kabab wallah of Quetta who served the ``Joints``. Frequently went there.

You could be also right about the Ghaza Bund pass. Aerial distance of the firing range was very close - and it could be that location.

Nazar,

Great article and very interesting.

I recently saw a TV documentry where two Mig 29 belonging to the USSR had a mid air collission during an air show. One of the planes got literally sliced into two, but both were saved by the Russian ejection system which National Geographic said was one of the most advanced in the world. I wonder if you have seen the documentry ??? I for one could not imagine how they managed to survive.

Well they say that women are more intutive than men, and probably there is more for us to learn within ourselves, than from outside. Your wife`s prayers probably saved you, though I dont think that killing the goats had much of a role.

It was interesting for me to read about the tough conditions, and lack of basic facilities which your forces live in as its a similar picture this side of the border.

Cheers

I can understand........during my childhood days I used to run over those terrace hedges without any fear of fall or any accident. I still believe that all those countless tabeezs that were strung around my neck from the mazars of the pirs had something to do with it.

Nazar,
I was always expecting you to tell us of the inquiry.
The world is so smmmaaaall. I recollect seeing a MIG going down in 1978 around Ghazaband Pass. Was that you?
You also forgot the Lal Kebab wala who sold joints and the lovely Achars and sweet meats made by the Dittus. You could have also mentioned the rich Hindu community of Quetta.
As an aside, are you, or were MIGs allergic to you. One sprayed fuel over the KKH and the other caught fire. A bad Coincidence.
A nice reading
