Hey JC, won’t you smile for me?

I used to think sex and violence were the only things that sold. If one could not direct a good book or a good movie, add some sex and some violence to it. And it will definitely get a certain loyal audience. If Chowk were to today add some sex to this site, its hit count would go through the roof.

Now, I think another aspect needs to be added to it: religion. Sex, violence and religion sell. If one becomes a tele-evangelist like Fallwell, Israr and Benny Hinn, one can become a millionaire and even enter politics. And even be declared the next, ``savior.`` If on the other hand one can slanderize religion like Rushdie, Manji, and moviemakers from Holland, one can achieve the same, ``savior`` status with a different crowd.

Either Jerry Fallwell is going to save mankind or Salman Rushdie will. I am still waiting with my toes crossed. Why are all these, ``saviors`` so wealthy? Religion has served them well.

Back to the article: You have gone from BJP, to Vagina to J.C, in your writings. With these topics, you seem to have covered the violence, sex and religion spectrum, respectively and completely. It seems as though, ever since the demise of the BJP, you are running out of topics to write on. The easy way out is to get into writing about Vaginas and Prophets. But that is a slippery slope, since it relies more on controversy and less on content.

Perhaps it is time to start concentrating more on content, and less on, ``shock`` value. Articles outside of the BJP, female sexual parts, and religious entities would be greatly appreciated.

This is too deep for me! But I am glad that you chose to discuss JC as a human being. I believe that a discussion forum such as this should not hesitate to discuss the lives of all prophets and religious figures - dead or alive - especially if they are supposed to still serve as role models for us.

How about Satya Sai Baba or the Kanchi Seer? Are they tantalizing or they need to dead Prophets? In that case, would you dare or care to explore (with delicious pleasure offcourse) vulnerabilities of some other prophets?

start with using only initials to refer to the prophet .. baby steps.. (e.g. S.K Yadav for Bhagvan Shri Krishna, R.B.D for ram-bin-dashrath etc.).

I enjoyed this Farzana. This image of the vulnerable Jesus who might have faltered and even questioned what his destiny asked of him is the reason I found The Last Temptation of Christ so powerful. Like most modern women I have also been fascinated by Mary Magdalene, especially the new interpretations and the knowledge that she went from being a decent woman to prostitute because of deliberate tamperings with the testament. Interesting!

I would image the continuing success of The Da Vinci Code also proves that the humanness of Jesus and his relationship with Mary totally enthralls people.

Of course, if JC (divine or not) was around he would be a long haired peacenik and would probably be hated by the religious right that takes his name all day along.

I understand the irresistable urges to copy whiteman agnostics and atheists but why do we have to be so disrespectful towards religious figures, even if they are of other people. Why can`t brown agnostics have their own code of ethics. Why are they so incapable of ``free thinking``?
