General Musharraf says that the country is facing no external threat, but only internal threats.
Maybe it is because Pak army has decided to surrender before foreign enemies/challengers on all issues, but NOT READY to make any concilliations with the Pakistani civilians?

furqamanat : ``and if the revenge is sweet trust me all those jehadis are still waiting in the wings to tear india apart..u shud go and thank USA for keeping them at bay for a while.. ``
Your faith in your jihadis is touching...but naive... I am not sure about what USA has done for India , but Indian Army has certainly shown great aptitude for cutting off the phalluses of your brave jihadis and sending them off on an excruciatingly slow and painful journey to their maker and the 72 houris...
Pakistanis have been dreaming about India breaking into several pieces ever since the day Pakistan was formed in 1947....only to end up losing half their own country ....go ahead and dream on...
As far as your comment about muslim Indians not being able to reach high positions in Indian Army is concerned , just for your information - the current Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Armed Forces is a certain APJ Abdul Kalam.....

mr. malik
after reading yr article i d only feel bad ..feel that every second indiv in pak army is a rapist, as if pak army consists of frustrated power hungry individuals who cant think straight.
whtever b the case, u cannot blame the whole institution for indiv acts, accepted tht its a shame...yet its very much like the american way of thinking,
linkin islam & muslims with terror & extreme
its necessary to voice yr opinion but
when we speak/think like a critic, we must think of an alternative feasible solution az well.
tryin to prove tht army is root cause of evil, do v hav ne alternatives? mian shareef? BB?who else? think bout it.

#11: I read your post with interest but I beg to differ with you. I do not read Pakistani Newspapers to know of the current affairs in that part of the world. They start with rapes, murders, lawlessness and they end in the same dirt. Yes, in the middle there are some highlights of Karachi Stock Exchange and a well-oiled picture of Shaukat Aziz. That`s neither pleasant nor entertaining.
I also don`t know the tribal areas and their way of expressing their concerns. But with all said and done, I do not think that Bugti was trying to use the woman`s name to accomplish any personal vendetta against the armed forces. I am saying this after reading a few excerpts here and there. I have not followed the story in its entirety.
Despite the prevalent madness, I do believe in the goodness of actions and people. He may be bringing her name up again and again to raise awareness on the horrible act. If you do not mention her name then no one knows that someone (real) was violated and who was behind it. There are 100s of women who are both violated and deprived of their basic rights in Pakistan. Can you name all of them? Can you ask a newspaper to compile the list in the past month or so?
In any country, facts have to be clearly stated to punish the crooks and institute justice. If you present a generic scenario with fictitious characters, no one can hold anyone accountable. Period. Bugti`s repeated mention has some validity behind it. I am not familiar with this Baluch or Pathan honor stuff, so I am not in a position to comment.

Well done Malik Imran! But this you could do only while sitting in Finland.
You can`t imagine to what depths the `Bloody Civilians` have fallen in this country. The case of the lady doctor is only a micro-manifestation of the `Macro-rape` to which this nation of the Pakland is being subjected. And the civilian stooges of the army are no less responsible for this. It was Bhutto who made the army a `Holy Cow` by enacting laws providing severe punishments for criticizing the army. And was it not a rape of the constitution to turn it into a `Fatwa`?
It was rightly said by a self-confessed stooge of the army, Pir Pagara, ``Countries have army but in Pakistan, army has a country``. So we Pakies are virtually slaves of the army. Does not Shariah allow non-consensual or non-civil sex with the slaves, whether male or female?

re: rape of a girl in Australia
After this rape of a doctor in Pak by military officer (s), there is now news of a similar incidence perpetrated by a Paki cricketer (name withheld) in Australia. Detalis are awaited.
Why does it seem to me that the mindset involved is the same in both cases?

ahhh and i thought u have some understanding and will try to speak out of intellect and not pure haterd towards pakistan being an indian... u brought it on ur self in kashmir... dont tell me that kashmir was a part of ur Great INDIA.. cz if that is soo then u have to explain wat Nehru said aba UN plebscite.. perhaps he was under the influence of alcohol .. that does tell about the leadership india had.. isnt it .
well keep dreamin that NWFP and BALOCHISTAN can break apart.. because army wotn let even if it means a mass genocide.. and if the revenge is sweet trust me all those jehadis are still waiting in the wings to tear india apart.. u shud go and thank USA for keeping them at bay for a while.. the question is not that if balochistan and nwfp is going to be seperated . question is that how long can u keep kashmir . nagaland.. asam.. and ur bombay mafia to wreck havoc in country..
aba rejoicing over pakistan.. may i suggest that try to feed ur country men who are ready to sell their daughters cheaper then wheat.... do rejoice but on the point that u dont have poverty and muslims can actually join Indian army in higher ranks .. but if u are still so naive to ignore all that and jump up and down on ur couch because some other country is fallin apart.. that goes to show that how low can indians stoop to have their kicks.
there was a poem by yeats..
``is their another troy for her to burn``..... after readin ur comment i so want to put
``is their another kargil for her to burn``
it is people like u who wud even make baghliar dam a problem and then wud preach about peace and love..

jay-
you are right. much of our problems are based in where we historically see ourselves placed - or misplaced rather. And it is our inability to address that. For those of us who try to address it, we try, and we are ashamed.
However, I stand to defend the author of this article. We may disagree with the level of analysis and insight therein, but atleast the critique is leading to some better answers. I stand to defend all critics of our society, because with time, out of frustrated efforts we have even turned to strangle the critics in our society - and hence, bad has ceased to be bad, since no one says its bad. Now rape and honour killings seem to occupy smaller corners in the papers. I dread the day when they will cease to be news - like robberies and crimes, and army take-overs of land.
lets see things in context, jay.

I agree with you for the most part. Army people are to be blamed because they have tried to cover the criminal.
Just as a comment, ``there are no reports accusing Americans of raping, let alone gang-raping, Iraqi women`` is simply not true. The kind of pictures I`ve seen (which were later removed from that website, otherwise I would have posted the link) are horrible. It`s only in poor countries like ours that we learn how to control sexual desires. But not in US. And that`s why US soldiers create havoc in this regard wherever they are deployed. Even Washington Times reported the sexual offences US soldiers are doing there and according to that report, not even teenage boys are safe from them.
Rest of your article pretty much sheds light on true army behavior. In short, army`s motto is ``bloody civilians are less smart, are indisciplined and hence should be tamed by us.`` Given the lack of intelligence on part of Pakistani people, I am NOT surprised that many of them still support Pervez, the ultimate dictator.
