Merely by having an ancient history, no place is the center of anything in these times, however much Cairiens may wish to think this of their beloved Qahirah.Maybe to Egyptologists, but not to the rest of the Middle East.Depending on the cities of the world one has visited or lived in, conclusions on which of them offer the most diversity would expand into a fairly long list.Cairo would definitely make it to the list but would be among several others. The article itself is well written and the writer`s views are honest and spontaneous.Thank you Aisha, for bringing back memories of a place I enjoyed without missing and despite its blemishes.

``...since most history in Egypt is traced back 5000 years ago and Islamic history and the reign of Salahudin Ayubi is called recent history.``
Just out of curiosity, wouldn`t you, as a Pakistani, feel this way too?
