aoa aunty
what an absolutely wonderful article... your mother was an exceptional woman. may Allah bless her in the after-life as much as he did in this one... for she truly was blessed to have you as a daughter.

Excellent article. As befitting a tribute as can be.

FarzanaVersey #38, {``I could have used ‘Canonising the clit’. ``}
Farzana,
It`s not nice to refer to Joan or Arc or Mother Theresa in such a manner. :) But, then you could be talking about that Betty Friedan, who recently kicked the bucket.

This really does give an insight into the lives of PAF wives: not very different from that this side of the border.

Very touching. My Uncle is also in the Air Force, so I could relate to a lot you write about. This site helps me understand Pakistan, something thats just not possible through any other media.

Samina,
This is the second article from you on chowk that I am reading. Both your articles left me amazed at your expressive power in matters of the heart. Being an airforce baby myself, I can relate to your pain, though I can`t claim to understand its extent.
Re: # 3
That`s as insensitive a rant as I`ve ever seen. First off, the author is not one of ``us girls``, she`s a woman who probably has children older than you. Secondly, don`t go around claiming that you could write stuff that would be unexpected coming from a Pakistani girl; either do it and shock people, or stay quiet. There`s nothing worse than a backseat driver.
Irfan.

A good attempt but why do us girls always end up getting ourselves labeled as
weepy sentimentals? I wished I could write because I would love to write stuff
not expected from Pakistani girls.

one correction to my post below: i double checked and see that your late husband was air commodore, not squadron leader as i had put down. sorry for the mistake.

Ina lilah wa ina ilayhi rajioon. May God bless your mother`s soul. When visiting Pakistan (i live in the US) in August 2003, I visited my father`s grave in Islamabad and saw the one to his immediate right was the grave of your late husband, squadron leader rizwan. Small world!! I remembered your article on chowk about your husband, and said a prayer for him as well.
