Never got a chance to experience Sholay myself but i have heard a lot about it and hopfully I`ll come this month. We do have our own ``besharam`` here in T.O. which might not be as big as sholay and whatever it`s in UK but definitly one of a kind...
Homosexuality in south asians shouldn`t just stop here..providing platform to have fun isn`t everything....We need to reach a point where we don`t need to advertise the LGBT or when we don`t need sholay or besharam to have a good time......but still what you guys have started is commendable...hopefully I can come this May for ur party..keep rockin` .

the desilicious parties are one of the BESTS! i love them and really miss them since ive moved away from NYC. it is one of the most comfortable places for a desi woman to dance to desi music with men and women and whomever else might be there. ashu rocks. one of the best chilled out parties in nyc. its keep a lot of the birdge and tunnel crowd away (who i am not bashing on by any means) but they tend to be homophobic and molest happy.
yay for desilicious.

Shan,
Welcome to Chowk!
I attended one of Sholay`s comedy nights-it featured Shazia Mirza, a Japanese Indian American mc, a young Indian American woman and a gay Indian expat. That evening was a sharply witty and fine example of the inclusion and vision that will ultimately redeem South Asians and Desi Americans from their stupidities. Thanks for reminding me!

Shan,
Desilicious, along with a few other queer South Asian clubs in North America all started up after both Shakti and Club Kali in the UK, (Shakti is from way back in the day) these have been going on well before anyone had ever thought about desilicious.
I`ve had a few friends go there, however, our Club Kali is way better they report, and we got some funky DJ`s too, one of my girl friends DJ`s there from time to time, they play all proper desi music, asian music for asian ppl, i told her to play the song `Gal sun dolna` by Humaira Arshad, had everyone jumpin on the dance floor.
Kali is very mixed now, with straight, white, black, etc all coming for the experience, and the drag queens are fab.
Another wicked night is Maya, for Asian lesbians, if you`re a guy you can only get in by invitation, but the women are fabulously gorgeous, and theres a wicked dance show too, its a very relaxed bar and the atmoshpere and vibe are cool.

A desi friend of mine once acccidentally walked into a Gay and Lesbian party on our college campus. He saw all the guys on one side and all the girls on the other side and his first thought was - ``Jeez!! This looks like a Desi party``. Then he looked up and saw a poster on the wall about the Gay and Lesbian party and finally figured out where he had ventured :-)

I dont get the title!
Why arent we ready for desiliscious~
I think the desiliscious parties are a blast, not to mention the beautiful people.
I get so tired of going to dance clubs where they dont play any world/mediterranean/dance music.
Urstruly,
why didnt you put your reply to hamidm in your email reply? I am sure you have disdain for Gay people. Allah ki Panah, Oh my God if you meet at such a place, what would Allah think!
